  1. you can by an OBD2 scan tool to read your own codes. Prices range from 30-500$ depending on the features. Some you can hook up to your laptop.

I am looking at getting the digimoto one for about 100$. You can read all the car sensors, pull codes, and reset the codes.

  2. that is not the same error that i get when it crashes. I get a max database connections exceeded error which could mean any number of things

Most likely this site is sharing a server with a number of other websites and those can contribute to the issue as well. It depends on how the host is setup. It could be max simultaneous connections, or max connections per hour.

For instance, our site would crash almost at the end of every hour. As soon as the clock would hit the next hour the site would be back running.

Yesterday the site crashed every time i logged on and started browsing. Other days i can browse fine without any problems.

  3. hear hear!

oh well I guess we'll give them the benefit of the doubt for a say a couple more weeks before making alternative arrangements... :D

The problem when running a forum is that each page load uses say 10-20 database queries PER PERSON. So once you get 50 people on the site at the same time, the database server will reach max load. Hosted servers typically cap this load to keep the stress down on their server and make sure all the hosted sites get equal processing power.

The only solution is to get them to up the max database connections limit or remove it entirely.

  4. this is not a phpBB problem. This is a problem with the server configuration not allowing more than XXX number of database connections either simultaneously or per hour. We went through this same issue several times and decide the hosting company was screwing us. We had to get a new host that was suitable for a forum environment.

  5. I run 350z-tech.com and we will be working with 350z-uk.com. Looking forward to spreading the love across the waters :yahoo:

We have the 350z wikipedia running and still need much help collecting information. This is a free, open source tech guide / database of all things 350z related.
