  1. I'm heading down to Notts for that afternoon, so might see if I can set off a bit early and drop by first
  2. Hi all, I got my Z back in November and just remembered I never actually introduced the car, so here she is! HR with 83k, stock apart from an Invidia Gemini catback. I've wanted one since I was a kid, and I look out of the window several times a day just to gaze at it Got a few bits and pieces of work planned over summer ranging from stone chips and bodywork fixes to a potential suspension upgrade. Might post here as I do them, and will hopefully run into some of you if I make it to any Z meets!
  3. I seem to be having an extreme version of this issue. All gears have needed a firm shift since I got the car, but second was a bit difficult to get into, especially when cold. Now it seems to lock out of second more often than not, so I need to shift 1st to 3rd. Double clutching to get second doesn't always work either. Car is a HR with over 80k miles, it had the transmission oil changed with the OEM stuff about 5k ago. Clutch and flywheel are original (as is the clutch fluid by the look of it - but this is going to be the first fix I try). Do you reckon gearbox surgery is on the horizon - or is there a chance it could be to do with the clutch/DMF/CSC being on their way out? I saw in this old thread that a new clutch/flywheel solved someone's 2nd gear issue:

That's amazing, definitely garage goals! Mine is sat on the drive dealing with the cold, got a couple of the microwaveable dehumidifier packs in it and they seem to help a lot with condensation. Looking forward to summer
  5. Hi all, recently picked myself up an 09 HR and fulfilled a childhood dream (planning to put up some pics soon as I've got it all sorted and polished up ). Unfortunately I experienced random misfiring shortly after getting it (no engine codes) and after pulling the coils I found a bit of oil in the front two spark plug tubes on the driver's side. From what I've read it would seem the spark plug seals are going bad, so it looks like the valve covers will need replacing. I have a few questions - Does anyone know the best place to pick up these covers? How harmful is it to the engine to drive in this state? And is there any other work or preventative maintenance that you'd recommend being completed at the same time as replacing the covers? I'm also located in west yorkshire, so if anyone has any garages that they use in this area I'd appreciate recommendations Thanks!
  6. You're probably right, more risk than it's worth, will just keep on the lookout for one with no issues.
  7. Service history is good, but as to whether it's been driven far or hard like this I can't say. But yeah it's not going to be cheap if it does have issues, which is making me hesitant. If I could guarantee no damage has been caused, I'd be happy to buy it. I have no issues putting up with low performance until it's fixed, but I've read posts where people talk about it being harmful to the engine. Granted I've not personally heard about anyone with a ruined engine from gallery gaskets either. I'll also have to look up AB Autoworks, Halifax isn't far from me. How much did they charge for the process?
  8. Hi all, I'm considering buying a HR, however it's been driven with low oil pressure (in the low single digits at idle, based on the dash guage). Good service history and condition otherwise. How much risk does this issue pose for the engine? I'd plan on taking it to a specialist asap to have the gallery gaskets done if I bought it, however I don't really want to inherit an engine swap/ rebuild. I've been looking online, but there seems to be conflicting information on whether the car being used in this condition will kill the engine.
