That video Davey posted is exactly what mine looked and operated like, miles better. Personally I hate those LED strip lights, so I kept my eyes out for a set of depo clear rear units. Got them, got LED indicators, reverse and fog lights and bam all wired up looking great.

Why am I just finding out now that there's clear lights🤩 Clears with LED's it is! Thanks for that!

Ta damn, T20 fitment same as the fronts

Jesus they're miles better man! I've been looking at the full led strip some people run. Watching some on Ali express atm. I'll probably set the car on fire with my wiring though🤓

Yeah they do, you just need to find the right bulbs. First set I bought hyperflashed so sent them back, second set from a different supplier work perfectly front and rear. Quite literally plug and play, and it sounds stupid, but they take years off the car cosmetically.

I now cannot unsee incandescent indicator bulbs, they look so ugly with that slow flash on/off. The LED is so crisp and sharp.

Thanks, I miss that car alot sometimes. Just wish she wasn't quite as old when I got her!

You wouldn't remember the name of the brand would you? Does the white light in the switch back run constantly then turn amber when signalling?

You can buy switch back LED indicator bulbs that do not need a resistor wiring in. I did on my Nismo and they work perfectly and are super bright

I remember HR headlights to me DE, then got the bonnet. Night and day visual improvement

Damn I thought the switch backs didn't work in these🤦🏽‍♂️ BTW that Z is bloody phenomenal!

They look like 6 pin to 8 pin adaptors they save you rebuilding the connector if you had a DE with 6 pin and want to fit HR lights which usually have 8 pin I think the 2 extra pins were for auto levellers as some models didn't have them

So that's what they are! Thank you

What a difference, always surprised me Andy didn't buy these years about. £4500 on wheels and tyres but left the dates DE lamps. Wait till you go out for a drive at night!! Way more light output and the amber side lights are a cool touch. No idea about the plug sadly.

More like £4800 without rubber😳 Trust me mate he forgot a lot more than headlights on this thing😂 but we're slowly getting there. Honestly can't wait to try them out properly. I've ordered some resistors to arrive tomorrow so hopefully get to see the indicators work🤞🏼 If anyone complains I'll just stick a BMW badge on, I'm sure they'll understand. Christ I've had better light come out my phone than the DE's😂😂

They be looking most excellent

Now get some clear vinyl wrap on them to prevent oxidation spoiling all your hard work!

Otherwise even the pants British Summers will have the oxidation back more times than Arnie and the Terminator franchise :surrender:

Over the moon with them😁 After seeing Davey's results I ordered some clear wrap the other day. You've actually just reminded me about it so thanks for that😂👍🏼

  8. They work perfectly and what a difference!!

The indicator bulbs need a resistor but that aside, they're fantastic!

Oh, they had some kind of adapters on them. Can anyone identify what they are as they didn't fit my Z's plug (literally had a heart attack thinking they wouldn't fit😂)

I have my old ones up for grabs if anyone's interested.

  9. Came across this old, battered, blast from the past on ebay and had to take on the challenge to bring it back to life!

Managed to get a BMC sticker but still can't find a CDA one😕 Nevertheless, after several ours with a toothpick and toothbrush it was ready for the K&N cleaning kit with a final polish to finish it off.

Initially, I would have liked more time period correct mods on the Z. However, nostalgia aside, modern does mean better.

Unfortunately, I don't feel the BMC intake would be better than my current setup. (Direnza intake pipe/heat shield with Greddy Cone filter)

Back in the day if you had one of these on your saxo or 106 you were the pups nuts😂 Couldn't 'not' use this, so she's going on my other money pit, MK2 TT.

    Some before & afters👍🏼

  10. Slowly bringing them to 2023 with some new LED indicator and side light bulbs. Cheap enough. Will hopefully not get the hyper flash but I won't hold my breath😂 They look great though!

Removing the front bumper tomorrow to fit the new HR's. Can we all please join hands and pray they bloody work😂🙏🏼

Absolutely MEGA set of wheels, can't be many of these in the UK. Got a price in mind?

According to RVL they only made 2 sets of these with the other set going on a wide bodied 911 over there in the states. Unfortunately, the owner made them into a bloody table (I have to settle with IKEA). So looks like the only set on a car in the world.

I'm looking to have them rebuilt before summer to sell them ready for show season and I'd put them up at £3850. In there current miserable state, £2800. Just enough to get some RPF1's and some rubber hopefully🤞🏼

Highly doubt you'll find a great condition front bumper for sale, i'd advise to have your one repainted. These cars are truly terrible for stone chips, so a refresh is your best bet - plus it gives your the opportunity to go smooth.

Honestly I think that's going to be the only option. I would der what it would cost for a refresh🤔

Fantastic work and even more £££ saved too. I can highly recommend PPF for the lamps to stop them fading again.

Thanks Davey, just purchased some on ebay after reading your post so thanks for that😊👍🏼

So I repolished one of the headlights and then wiped down with alcohol. Re wiped with water.

    Then started my wrap.

All went well til I peeled off the protective top layer.

No bubbles but some cloudy patches similar to when celotape sticks against itself adhesive side to adhesive side and when you pull it apart it isn't clear anymore.

I thought maybe I used the wrong lube so tried again with JUST WATER........

May as well have tried using it dry....... total mess:surrender:

Going to order another FOUR pieces as I'm adamant to nail this:lol:

    IMG_20210725_174044.jpg

That's a great idea man. Is there a specific wrap you used? If so, do you have a link?

**EDIT, sorry. Just seen the link above 😂

  15. Just a post to see if my 3 Piece RVL wheels tickles any fellow Z owners pickle while seeking advice from anyone who tracks their Z.

Came to a point now where flashy 3 piece wheels aren't my thing anymore.

I'm literally scared to use them. Panicking if there's a bumpy road ahead, constantly scanning for potholes and forget about grabbing some McNuggets via a drive through! They're amazing to look at and the build quality is second to none. But unfortunately it just kills the vibe during an outing in the Z.

They're 19×9.5 ET:12 in the front and 19×10.5 ET:12 in the rears. Will come with the centre lock conversion of course.

Do you guys have any ideas/experiences with lightweight wheels? I'm looking at some RPF1's. Would be great if some of the track wizards could weigh in with advice and wheel/tyre specs 😁👍🏼

Also, if you guys want some super cool wheels for your show car, you know where to find me😊 Just purchased some brand new centre caps (still recovering from the import tax charge🤢

    Just an update:

After drying the condensation, it left water marks inside the lens😭

So I was put in touch with a nice guy who regularly works on Z headlights to bring them back to life. Unfortunately they quoted £300 to open one headlight and clean the waters spots. As this is wayyy out my budget I tackled it myself.

Literally had them split and cleaned in 30mins😁

Resealed with butyl and ceramic coated. Far from perfect! However, it's not a "show car" anymore so I'm more than happy!

Let's hope they're plug and play with my 03 Z.
