Hi all
Im new so please forgive me if i posted this in the wrong place, i have also searched through some old oil pressure threads but cant find anything that matches my 350z's symptoms
This new years eve, i drove down the motorway for 40 mins to work absolutely fine. Finished work at 14:30 and started the car and immediatly i knew something was up as the car sounded alot louder than normal and very throaty and hollow, i drove it out the car park and it sounded like a tractor but didnt feel massively lumpy. My thoughts are its a misfire but it is still pretty smooth and i havent ever expierienced a misfire on a V engine so im not sure how prominent that would feel, if you really concentrate you can feel a judder but to anyone not familiar with a 350z, evidently (as below) you cant tell
It was idling/ high revs at 1250 and oil pressure sitting at about 45 where as it ALWAYS has sat at 30 unless accelerating it would go to 90 buyt neevr any higher. So thats a worry. Checked oil levels, fine. It was overdue a service though. Each time the AA or RAC guys (i had both out) started my car the oil pressure seemed to get higher and higher until on 02/01 when i started it after 2 days to drive on to a flatbed to be taken to a garage the oil pressure was idling at 90 and it sounded even louder and throtier and still idling high. The thing that is annoying me, is the recovery mechanics and the guy that has it at his garage now all think its fine and sounds fine, but no offence to them, they dont know what it sounds like normally. It sounds nice compared to a normal car but compared to a healthy 350 it sounds like a tractor and very hollow :(
The AA and RAC couldnt find anything wrong as there are no fault codes showing they cant find anything wrong with it or see any live data so i have had it recovered to a garage where it is now. The mechanic as i said above couldnt work out what is wrong with it and said he took it for a drive and the oil pressure is high but it seems fine (but its not) so i asked him to do an oil and filter change as it was overdue, which he has done and when he put it on the ramps he noticed the passenger side flexipipe was completely cracked, so i have had a plate welded in by a customs garage now in hope that could have been the culprit but the guy has just called me to say its all done but oil pressure still idling at 60 so im lost now
Please if anyone could shed some light on it i would greatly appreciate it . Im heading over there on weds evening to go and drive it to see what i think of it but im not confident its going to be running any better
Huge thanks in advance to anyone that replies
