Was done in the last year I owned it mate, print out should be in the history to give you an idea of where it is/was

Think that was £80 off the top of my head on a laser rig

I curbed it doing 60 so probably need it done... Still goes perfectly straight but want it checked just to be sure. I'm also fitting lowering springs this/next week and don't want to wear my new tyres oddly.

So my order of the whiteline springs got cancelled due to being out of stock so I'm actually still in the market for springs

Me too - bought them from 2 different retailers on ebay and they both have cancelled my order.  I thought they carried stock but they must just dropship it direct form Whiteline.

It's what this forum is here for.

Definitely - I've got a lot of good advice from here so far, nothing wrong with trying new things though and possibly adding more valuable information to the forum.

Grabbed a random pic off the internet of a 350z lowered on Tein S Tech springs on 19 inch wheels, looks perfect drop in my humble opinion

You're right that looks spot on - just what I'm after.  The rear looks lower than only a 14mm drop though?

  4. I think that Eibach are a bit too low, and Tein are too high.  For me the rear end looks much to high up, and the Tein springs lower the front more than the rear.

Only reason they are tried and tested is because people have bought them! If no-one buys the Whiteline springs we'll never know...

Edited: Well I got that wrong, I thought Teins were lower by 17mm Front and 14mm Rear as mentioned in this thread, but according to Horsham shows that it's a 1.5" drop? Then checking Torqen it says 0.7/0.6"... confusing

To help out whom ever you end up choosing, spray the crap out of the bolts and tie rod ends in something like wd40 (much better stuff out there but you probably have a can at home) the night before.

It may make the difference between a quick and painless job, to something like Alex pointed out.

I'll do that! I've actually just ordered some Whiteline lowering springs which I will fit on Wednesday before the alignment on Thurs, so shall spray everything then.

I had mine done by Drury Lane Garage in Manchester last year. The car felt more planted once it was all done. My car is standard too. I paid £144 inc vat.

Just googled them and this was the first pic from Google - yours by any chance? :D

  6. Thanks all for the advice.

The suspension is stock, but I would rather not have somewhere like Kwik-Fit mess about with it, so will stick with the specialist.

Thanks for confirmation on the price Alex.  I'll mention your points on camber & caster and see if they are willing to negotiate.

  7. I'm based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, I just got 4 new tyres fitted and wanted to get the tracking looked at as the wear wasn't 100% even on the old tyres.

I've phoned up a local performance specialist who charges £120 for a full alignment. I get that he deals with fast cars alot but is that not quite a lot for an aligment? He uses the 3D Hunter system, but so does Kwik-Fit who charge about half the price.

Is this normal for a quote, or should I shop around more? If anyone knows of a good shop local to me that would be great. If rather avoid places like Kwif-Fit/Halfords and go to someone who knows what they're doing.

Black has all the options. It's your calipers which need to contrast with the alloys.

Personally would say gun metal alloys and red calipers. That's a safe bet and will look mean.

Wanna be risky? Try copper/bronze alloys and gold/yellow calipers.

I hadn't even considered the calipers.  Not sure how a copper colour would contrast with the gold brembos, hopefully it works!  I'm going to download photoshop and see if I can work out how to do it on there.

    Anthracite or smoked chrome

What wheels are you running? I’ve seen satin/matt finishes on some wheels that look great

Stock rays wheels, I've thought about a dark grey too, that and bronze are my two favourites currently.  Maybe gold but that sounds a bit much for me

    On black? Literally anything.

Well I'm not into bright green/pink! I was hoping a few people might have pictures of their wheels that I could use for inspiration.  I don't want it to be to in your face, just something subtle & sweet.

Annoyingly, I can't find the tread I saw a picture of the dismantled AC controls - think it was on my350z, thread about swapping all the LEDs. But, I do remember that there's sort of two rings of copper contacts on the board inside. The knob presumably shorts across different sets so control the speed.

Maybe you've got a bit of dirt in there stopping it working? Though if it is that, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to clean...

I think it's this thread here: https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-interior/429871-interior-led-conversion-3.html but it looks like the pictures in section 2B are corrupted and show random 350z pictures instead of the control internals, damn.

No idea how dirt could have messed it up.  I'll try pull it all apart tomorrow and see if there's anything obvious, it's just really odd how it started happening so randomly

  12. Getting my wheels fully refurbed in a couple of weeks, and I want to change the colour a bit.

My Zeds black, so I feel I'm not really left with a lot of options in colours.

I think black is a bit too much, and the OEM silver is a bit dull.  Anyone got any recommendations on colours? Or any photos of what you've got done on yours?

Top of my list atm is a bronze colour.

    Thanks.

  13. I've just got back from a 1800 mile road trip with the car, and there wasn't a single problem with it the entire trip.

I started the car today, and the fan speed control setting doesn't seem to be working correctly (car is an HR if that makes a difference)

The fan speed has the following settings - Off, Auto, Low->High

Off & auto work fine, but the first 4 "notches" of the Low->High dial seem to now function as Auto, so the fans basically function on max until the desired temperature has been reached.

The next notch then goes back to normal, so notch 5 now equals notch 1.

Anyone experienced this before? I've heard the cable behind the heater controls can be quite fragile, but I haven't recently messed with this so don't know how it could have got damaged.

If the above explanation doesn't make sense I can take a video later today.

    Thanks

  14. I've just replaced the shift knob that was on the car when I bought, it with one from M-Tech Engineering.

Not sure how much it's worth, but I'll say £15 ono? - dropped to a fiver if anyone wants it.

It does have a few marks from use, but they are fairly light and look like they might polish out.

It fits really well and sits on top of the boot perfectly.

  15. I'm a complete idiot and curbed my front left wheel while doing about 60.  I'm about 30 miles away from John O'Groats as my gf and I were driving the NC500, so I'm fairly sure no one can help but thought I'd ask anyway.

Does anyone have a front wheel for sale (Rays) anywhere near the highlands?

Obviously I can put the space saver on, but I've got another 700ish miles to do and don't think they are designed for that.

Anyone got any other ideas?  The wheel is currently holding air but I don't know for how long.  A tyre shop in Wick has had a look for me and checked it's not leaking, but said there really isn't a lot anyone can do.

    Here's a photo, yes I know I'm an idiot:

  16. Going on a 1500 mile road trip at the end of this month, so I'm changing all the fluids on my car this weekend.

I haven't had to change a fluid on a car before that involved using a fluid transfer pump.  Once I've used the pump to fill the rear differential, how do you then clean it to then use it for the gearbox? I assume they're not one time use, but you can't just rinse it out with water can you? Or would the residual oil left over not make a difference?

I've had a google as it's not really a Zed question but haven't found anything about it.
