  1. So it's been 3 weeks since buying the 350z and it's not been the best experience so far. Expectations were a little high as it's was supposed to be an upgrade from my MGTF, but I find myself missing it, especially in this weather. The on going frustration with the roof not working had me contacting 4 different, recommended, hood specialist who all couldn't help. I've refurbished the 5th bow motor with no improvement, so I've given up and booked it in with Nissan. I really hope they can work it out without bankrupting me. And now a new issue, the cooling fan motors have packed in. Having checked the obvious I've concluded the fan motors need to be changed. Not a difficult job apparently but that's assuming you're handy with a spanner. I am not. I've pinged Abbey Motorsports as they are well regarded and only an hour from me. So hopefully I can get those looked at before it overheats so much the head gasket goes. Is there anyone who has taken these out who can give me a few pointers? I understand I can refurb the motors but can't work out how to take the actual motors out. A few posts I've read suggest it's easy to do but none of those posts have pictures, or a lot of detail. Both of which I would find useful. I'm sure once the niggles have been sorted I'll be so much happier but until then.... It's gonna get better, isn't it?
  2. I'd try sending a PM to Mark aswell UK_350z just incase he doesn't see this as it's quite an old thread. Thank you SHEZZA, I have now done so. Fingers crossed.
  3. HI there, just wondering if these parts are still available? I've just discovered that my fans have stopped working and all tests point to these. Also what would you charge to fit them? Thanks
  4. Have you tried Bridging the switch on the brake pedal before testing with multimeter ? Thanks for the reply, Classix, appreciate it. If you mean have I pressed the brake pedal while testing with a multimeter then yes I have. I've bought a new switch just to rule that out but if that doesn't work then I'm stumped. Again.
  5. Hello all, proud new owner of a 2006 350z GT Roadster and so far I'm very impressed. It's only been a week but I've not stopped grinning like a Cheshire cat. the one and only isissue I have is with the roof, whwhich I knew about when I bobought it but has so fafar has be stumped. I've read about the 5th bow motor issue so I took out the 5th bow motor and replaced the brushes as this seems to be the most common issue. Wasn't as difficult as I thought and when I connected the motor to a 12v power supply it buzzed into life. Happy days. One thing I noticed before taking the motor out was when the motor was plugged in it didn't make any noise when I pressed the electric roof switch, I assumed it was because the brushes were worn out and the motor wouldn't work anyway. However, before I put the motor back in place I put a multimeter to the plug (that goes into the motor) and there was no reading, which I think means no power is getting to the motor . I've checked the relay in the engine bay, found the fuse box inside but I don't think there's fuse for the electric roof there. So I'm back to square one, with a refurbished motor Would anyone have any other suggestions I could try? Thanks all.
  6. Hello all, sorry to drag up an old thread but in a funny twist of circumstances I now own the car that Rob had a query on. I knew about the roof issue when I bought it so no problem there. Half the enjoyment is working out how to fix it! I took out the 5th bow motor and replaced the brushes as this seems to be the most common issue.
