  1. Yeah there's always the odd group of kids gawking after it. A nice little rev of the engine gets them excited haha.

Iv had a few people tailing me down the bypass and trying to race me through town at traffic lights etc.

Expecting it to be just like need for speed or something,I just leave them to it :/

  2. I have now owned my Zed for a whole month and I cannot believe how in love with it I still am. To celebrate I thought I would list 5 things that made me smile about owning this special car.

    1. The engine noise between 3000-3500 rpm phwooaaarrr.

    2. The look on similar aged peoples faces when they see me driving it.

    3. The look on older guys faces in their Vauxhall zafiras with their wife and 6 kids screaming at him whilst I drive past.

    4. The fact that there aren't that many on the road. It feels special owning one.

    5. Replacing my boot struts gave me a massive sense of achievement and pride in doing some maintenance myself. Onto the penny trick next!

  3. I think I need to do the same check, iv found my run to work and back is about 32mpg. But around town it is terrible.

Definitely worth resetting everything and starting again.

My fuel gauge is a little temperamental too!/

  4. After much reading in the forum and checking out the sgs website, i have replaced the boot struts in my Z.

Many thanks to everyone out there with the advice and info, ill put some pics up and a step by step guide of how i did it if anyone else is interested in doing theirs as i tried fitting them both a different way and found the easiest way for myself.

*quick tip* - if you are ordering the standard, or the lip spoiler struts, then the price of the two comes to less than £50 which is where sgs' free delivery starts.

You can order some caravan/medium car chocks from the site, for £5 and this brings your order over the magic £50 mark, and still costs less than what it would to just order the struts.

you save about 40p and get some free chocks out of it too...

  5. Ah thanks for the replies guys.

The garage put a new middle section in, however they left the rust box at the end so maybe its worth giving them a call.

It sounds like something has broken off or come loose inside. But the exhaust has started to corrode anyway, so either way it needs replacing :( I don't mind fitting it myself, but its still ~£200 for the box :(

  6. Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Bought my Z around three weeks ago and have had a rattling around the exhaust for the last week and a half of careful use. I took it to a garage and they found the heat shielding had rotten away and was rattling around, he took that off as he said you don't really need it as there is other protection above. But there is still a rattling coming from the back box, the exhaust seems to be rusty in areas and has corroded inside the pipe on one side.

I'm not sure where I stand, but I bought the gold year warranty just in case anything went wrong. Just wondering if anyone has had any joy going down this path, as I have already replaced the boot struts (from my own pocket).

  7. Thanks for all the replies and the info guys, nice to see a range of opinions.

My usual journey is a mile or so around a cul de sac/built up area, then onto a main road leading straight onto the dual carriageway for the rest of my journey to work, its 13 miles each way and not the worst of journeys as the main road and dual carriageway will be fairly clear and they are straight-ish which helps!

unfortunately there is no alternative means of transport to my work place, £800 does seem quite steep especially if the standard tyres are suitable for low speed/sensible driving. i dont plan on drifting round roundabouts just yet :p

  8. This is all relatively new to me as iv only had FWD cars in the past, and none of these had anything near the power my zed has, i spoke to someone at work yesterday, and on the off chance he mentioned i should be getting some winter tyres on as it had certainly done him the world of good in the past.

Now, im not too heavy footed, and i drive sensibly in adverse weather conditions, but accidents happen, so in everyones opinion, is it worth getting a set of winter tyres from now until Feb/March time?

if so, what brand/tread/style would people recommend, and what should i do with the normal ones whilst they are off?

Thanks for any info in advance!
