  1. Hey guys, I've got rust developing in both of my rear arches which has started to blister the paint quite badly. Additionally, I have a wee spot of paint that looks like it was a bad repair on one of the front arches. I want to get both of them sorted soon. I imagine that the rust will have to be cut out and new metal put in, then sprayed and blended in with the rest of the paint. Does anyone know of a decent bodyshop in the Glasgow area where I could get this done and roughly how much I should expect to pay? Cheers, Kyle Edit: I just realised I have probably posted in the wrong section. Mods, feel free to move this.
  2. Thanks guys! Yeah, I've been meaning to buy one for ages. I half fancy another so I don't have to pull over and move the camera all the time... might be a bit excessive though!
  3. It's a cracking road. Got lucky with the weather - it rained the day before and after! The route, if you're interested. https://goo.gl/bHbjsY

    My GoPro Video

Hey guys, I picked up a GoPro and have cobbled together a wee video this weekend. Unfortunately due to wind noises I scrapped the audio and replaced it with a song, but I will be getting a microphone soon. Enjoy.
  5. You in the silverburn area too? No, I'm in the southside, near Strathbungo.
  6. There was a period where 3 (including mine) parked near my flat. Mind you I haven't seen all that many otherwise.
  7. Nah, it didn't. The guy looked surprised at me giving him the thumbs, haha!
  8. Spotted just outside the Mulberry bistro on Pollockshaws road, I got a thumb! 53 plate (I think) with a wee wing.
  9. I saw a few lemons before I found mine, and even it wasn't perfect. Nothing I couldn't sort myself though. One was priced at £4000, so I wasn't expecting a show car, but wow, it was a pile of junk. I test drove it though as I'd never driven a zed before, ha. The guy was pretty pi**ed off when I walked away. My friend who was with me told me he would have slapped the money out of my hands if I'd tried to buy it! Hold out for the right car - you and your bank balance will regret it otherwise!
  10. I managed to replace the belts - it's a really easy job once the undertray is out the way. I had to remove one of the radiator fans so I could get a bit more room to bash the socket on - it went on eventually! I replaced both locking nuts whilst I was at as they were in a bit of a state.
  11. I can't even get the socket on it to turn it!
  12. My aux belts have started squealing, and having inspected them they're due a change. I've managed to loosen off the right-hand side locking nut (14mm) on the idler wheel no problem, but the other one is rounded and I don't have the space to try and get a smaller socket on. Is this a nut that can be replaced easily if I ruin it by loosening it with vice grips for example? Any advice nut would be appreciated! Cheers
  13. Just found the thread, yep, they look ace! I don't really have any plans for my car other than to sort out a few niggles. I would like to get my wheels powder coated, but I'd probably keep them stock. Who knows what might happen though eh!? What kind of exhaust do you have? Obviously I didn't hear it, but it didn't look stock, yet looked nice and tidy.
  14. That was me, picking up the GF. Nice lookin' car - the colour of your wheels reallys works with the orange. I've just recently moved to Glasgow so it'd be great to meet some other Z owners down here at some point.
  15. I have a friend with a Z who had a spare MAF, so we swapped them over. It's also just been through and passed its MOT, which is a huge relief! I haven't had a misfire since I swapped the MAF, but I don't think I've run it for long enough. I think I'm going to pick up a coil pack so that I have one ready when/if it goes again! Would any of you recommend a particular make of coil pack, are Hanshin any good? They seem awfully cheap compared to the OEM ones.
  16. Righto. I have a friend who has a spare MAF, so we can swap that out and see if that's the problem. If not, then that's that ruled out! What I'm gonna try next is disconnect each coil pack one by one whilst the engine is running and see if there is any difference or not... Surely if there is a significant difference then the coil is good? The only problem doing this is that my problem is intermittent, so I could start the car right now and it'd be fine. :| I'm also perplexed by the fact that I don't get a specific cylinder error, which I'd expect to see if a coil pack had failed. All of this wouldn't be such an issue if my MOT hadn't just run out, and it'll fail if I have any errors on the dash
  17. It has 113k miles. Today I got at the coils and plugs. They've got life left in them yet and there's no damp at all. I also noticed that the oil cap comes loose again once it's tightened too much so I changed it over. The problem is very intermittent... I took 4 journeys today (30 miles total) and it only happened on one. Is it possible that it's a MAF or o2 sensor?
  18. To add to my woes... My battery died! Managed to bump start it... Man, it's a heavy car. Got a new Bosch battery and it started after a few attempts - definitely looks like bad spark. I'll hopefully get the chance to look at the plugs and coils tomorrow.
  19. I think you're right. It's unlikely I'll get the chance until the weekend so I might be wise to take the bike to work for the next few days... Will keep you posted.
  20. Hi all, My check engine light has now flashed up on two separate occasions. On Friday I was driving across town and it came up - the engine was really lumpy and sounded like it was a cylinder down - like it was misfiring. So I pulled over, idled for a bit before turning the engine off. After 5 minutes I started her back up again and she was back to normal - no check engine light or lumpy idles. I forgot about it until today when it happened again. This time after turning her off and on again the CEL was still present. I visited a friend to borrow his ODB scanner and expertise and we got the following code: P0300 - random misfire. We then visually inspected the car and noticed a few things: "mayo" in the oil cap. A small amount, but enough for concern. water/oil mix near spark plug/coil pack seals for cylinders 2, 4 and 6 (NS - the other side was bone dry) It is also worth noting that: We've had a LOT of rain up here recently and I've driven every day. I changed my belts last week. I also had my NS compression arm replaced last week (not cheap ). I don't have an engine under tray. I bought it like this and I have been intending to buy one, but we're in the middle of selling and buying a house... My friend suggested it's possible that it's an o2 sensor, or that water/oil has worked its way into a coil/spark plug. Could it be the bad weather, condensation etc, or does it sound more like a failed gasket? If anybody had any experience with this or could point me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated. Cheers, Kyle
  21. A few months ago I bought my first zed - safe to say I am absolutely delighted with it. There are a few age related niggles I'd like to sort out and other (minor) tweaks I'd like to do over the coming months, but for now I am happy just driving it!
