  1. I can't afford to outright buy a new Mustang, and my limit to live comfortably ( I'm young and in a crap job ) is about £450 a month.

My only option is to put down a £9-10k deposit and "lease it" for the first 3 years, then take a loan for the remaining £16k and pay that off over time, all in taking near 6 years to pay off at £450 a month :'(

Can't sign up to that with the current job market in case I become "unbusy" lol It's a lovely car, but not willing to stress that much over it just yet.

  2. Im after a wheel for a 2005 Zed.

    Cheers

Have to tried Jack at Royal Steering wheels? He does damn good work, and can fit it for you if you need to.

He does an exchange basis, or if you need to use your car still, you pay him a deposit and he just swaps it forstaf your wheel when you arrive

I ordered mine, and 2 weeks later got a call to say it's ready, drove over there and he fitted and exchanged wheels for me in under 30 mins :)

Looking at your location though, I think he might be a bit far away :S

  3. I haven't checked inside again recently, but the last few days my car has been bone dry inside, windows included, so I'm thinking that maybe it was just the moisture in the air mixed with the fact I drive my car at 10pm and then again at 8 am, so the car is warming up when its most cold outside, and then cooling down as the day itself warms up - double whammy of condensation !

Seems mostly fixed now, thanks guys :)

  4. Reminds me of Need for Speed Underground 2 with the SUV's and how all the wheels look massive :p

As with the above, not for me I'm afraid - Firstly I find anything above 19's too big on the Z, and the're isn't a lot of actual rim to look at lol it's like buying a bag of crisps - a lot of money, for a lot of air ;)

  5. wow I bet that took alot of time. Now to catalogue it all. Always fancied a block to make a coffee table out of like on top gear. ;)

I did that, but I used a Mercedes M113 engine lol. Bought the entire thing, still running, for £300 delivered!

    Sold a lot of it n got a nice 5.0 V8 table.

Be warned, it's a lotta work taking them apart while trying not to break things, and you'll spend double your budget making it haha.

Had mine powder coated in a bright silver, and used conrods/pistons for feet/arms for the glass. Conrods were painted gunmetal for a bit of contrast.

And glass is more expensive than you might think!

  6. Ok thanks mate for getting back to me, I wasn't sure but thought it may be the case, may just end up weighing the bloody thing in as can't find anyone to take it

Have you tried the for sale section on the forum? That usually works very well, and the exhaust is a common issue on the Z, so should sell quite quickly. I'd say if you want a quick sale, cats and all, go for about £150 - it's not the best price but should sell damn fast like that :)

  7. I'm sure most people will tell you this, and I wholeheartedly agree, Try and get a forum car/enthusiast owned car.

They are generally speaking a damn good buy, and you know they have been looked after and cared for, regardless of cost.

I wish I had found the forum before I bought my 350z, but I managed to find a 1 owner 50k miles '56 model. I was happy with the price at the time, but having seen what I could have gotten, in better condition, I kick myself every time a car comes up for sale on here :p

Stick around, and feel free to ask questions, there is an entire fountain of knowledge on here :)

Generally I'd try and ignore cosmetics ( I know it's hard ) but if you find a mechanically sound one, with full service history, drives well and feels good but looks worn outside, I'd still consider it.

The 350z is known for bad paint, so try not to get too hung up on it anyway - I know it does reflect its life ( pun intended ) but I'm sure a stone chip or scratch will bug you less than say, a clutch job?

  8. Having just recently bought and fit an HR to my rev up, it does indeed fit, but only the cat-back - Cats don't fit/work unfortunately

By installing an HR system, some plastic panels need to be removed, I believe they were just splash guards anyways - if anyone really wants to know what I mean with the panels, I can upload some pictures around 9 am tomorrow morning for you :)

  9. I won't be making it at those dates, my other half's parents have a timeshare in Scotland near Loch ness, so we might go up for a week or so in August (did a similar thing last year but in the brecon beacons) and just drive :)

Although I don't want to just use their time share having seen those amazing places, and roads!!!

(All of which will be driven at the speed limit.... :stir:)

  10. My folks are addicted to the damn lotto thing I swear to god.

Literally buy 2 tickets for every draw... my dad rang me the other day to ask if I can go buy him another ticket "just in case"

I laughed n said fine, but luckily their website was down and I couldn't be bothered to go to the shop ;)

Surely nobody wins on this? working on £6 a week minimum you're over £300 a year, yet he refuses to spend that extra money on a nicer car "cause the tax is ridiculous"

The most we've won in one ticket ( this has only happened 3 times in 10 years ) so far have been 2x £100 and 1x £50 - Seems like a bit of a lost cause to me but hey.

  11. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the search!

£9k should get you a very nice low mileage 350z HR if you're lucky or a very nice supercharged 2005 DE :)

For that budget I'd avoid anything over 50k miles and 3 owners. Don't rush!

    OOPS, I rushed.

7 months ago ( omg that long already?? ) Bought a 1 owner, 50k miles, FNSH model from a dealer. 07 plate "revup" - £8700

In a way I regret it, cause that midnight blue one further down looks great... and HR!!!

But what sold me was the 1 owner and relatively low miles, and at the time, was the best I had seen in about 4 months of searching.

I guess we can't all wait and be patient for the best one :p

Having said all of this though, there are currently none that I would buy on autotrader, based on colour and being convertibles.

I'm a fussy one ;) Only wanted a black one ,manual, GT spec :D

  12. Hi guys, since I've had my Z the bolster has bugged me, it had the usual wear and tear, but the dealer said he'd sort it for me - Turns out that he thought a rip could be fixed with an oddly misshapen blob of hot resin by the looks of it. Not even a nice even shape - A right blood mess. I had to do the cringe-worthy sharpie repair to try and hide the surrounding bits he missed that were still a bit grey - Here is an embarrassing pic of the side bolster, not the base by my butt!!! Hard to tell in the pic I know but its early in the morning and I cba ;)

    20160112_045413_zps2be1b2df.jpg

Anyways, ignoring my dodgy repair skills, would it be possible to just repair one bolster? My drivers seat inner bolster (towards the inside of the car) is fine, foam still firm and everything, but the one used the get in and out of the car is bad.

I did the scientific squeeze test... the foam seems to have collapsed or at the least is a hell of a lot softer, and obviously the tear/repair stuff bugs me and I want to get it fixed and looking good :)

Having seen quotes for around £300 a seat, I can't quite justify that for a tiny niggle - Don't quite find the 350z seats that great, but then again, I am of a small build so not many seats hold me :(

(I sat in a Focus ST the other day, and that thing hugged me nicely - I'm 6 ft 2 and weigh around 13 stone - lean build if anyone cares - just so you know I have no rolls to work with haha )

Anyways a long ramble for a short question - Can you re trim just one bolster?

Also going to be cheeky here and ask another question, roughly how much would it be to add heated seats into a seat?

Love the feature in the winter - and a lot of aftermarket seats I like don't have it :(

EDIT : I will be adding more pics later when I finish work, and it MIGHT be light. Just so the pro's can see the general condition of the seat and advise me on what to do. I'm in two minds... fix it so it looks decent, or go apeshit and go fancy.

Want to get a Mustang eventually, but that's 2 years away, so the seats gotta look good and stay looking decent for resale, without bleeding me dry - Tough order to meet I guess !

  13. Hi guys, I've noticed now with the colder weather that my air con just isn't clearing the windscreen like it used to, so I wiped it down with a cloth- it was bloody soaked!

This got me thinking, oh crap, must be a leak somewhere. Checked the carpets inside, but they are bone dry - same again in the boot.

I've checked the door seals and window seals but they all seem okay, (edit: I was washing the car and obviously sprayed them directly with a lot of water at the time, and tried to see if any seeped through, but dry as anything )

Can anyone suggest anywhere or anything to check in particular?

A bit embarrassing when I leave work and my nice shiny sports car is filled with water and I have to sit there wiping it down so I can see :(

I have those rechargable dehumidifiers in my car ( 4 of the buggers!!! ) and they used to last about a fortnight, then slowly a week, and now barely scrape through the damn weekend!

In my folks car they last nearly a month and they only use 2, so this needs sorting clearly - (Edit: I even tried using theirs and it made no difference)

  14. This is not my personal taste, but have you thought of an aftermarket bumper?

Could end up cheaper, and 2 birds 1 stone sort of thing, if you want a different one that is.

I like my cars subtle and almost stock looking :)

I think the grill changed slightly, and the reflectors also - Whether or not they are both plug and play I do not know, sorry.

  15.

I saw on ebay you can get LUK DMF and Exedy clutch for 310.00 + approx £250 labour I guess? So that's not a major blow, however, I worry about the gearbox and any help is much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Just a friendly heads up, as others on the forum and traders on here have found out, A LOT of DMF/Clutch combo's on eBay seem to be fakes.

As for the syncros, I'm not sure, My 2nd gear seems to be a bit strange about wanting to be used sometimes, but it doesn't grind, more just locks me out completely!! Well, I can get it in there, but I don't feel comfortable trying to push it into gear that hard. Just have to go back to neutral and try again, or just use 3rd ;)

Your problem I can't shed light on I'm afraid, but I'm 97% sure that someone here will be able to help :)

  16. Could be free motoring for you...

    Thats the plan really.

I nearly got enticed into a new 570s but looking at the depreciation curves of the 12c (my car listed at £206k!!!) and the 650s they both lost £30-£40k a year initially!! Hopefully the 12c is on a steady depreciation curve now.......personally I can't ever see them dropping below the values of older stuff out there like 430's, pre-LP Gallardo's etc..............but you never know I suppose!

Also bear in mind that a lot of the early niggles have been ironed out with retrofit upgrades too which is great. It hasn't dated one jot despite being five years old either, I find the 12c pretty much indistinguishable from the 650 and 570. Good call on the colour too, is it volcano orange?

From behind I can't tell the 650 and the 12c apart, but from the front I can.

The 570 is different all round.

In pictures the 12c looks a bit more dated than the 650, but in the flesh... phwoar!

Good point on the depreciation, at circa £130k these are "bargains" if you will, have a look at prices of 2 month old 650s and you can buy a full spec 370z for the depreciation!!!
