  1. Welcome all, Last September, I posted the attached video of my beloved 350z which had developed a significant knocking sound, becoming a 350d. Unfortunately this occurred days before I had to move location for a career change, however, the general consensus was that it was terminal. Fast forward 6 months and after considering many options (engine change, track car build, break for parts etc.), unfortunately I think it is time to let it go. The time and cost required to achieve any of those ideas is simply too much for my current appetite and situation (moving location frequently), and I would rather the Zed goes on to better things. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16iYwMi8B9ul7-N0prC4smQcjqzhr-nlh/view?usp=sharing I was wondering if anyone had any advice or ideas on what is best to do next? Can anyone signpost me to any breakers who would potentially be interested? Is it worth getting an opinion on the knocking sound in person (in the slim chance it's not major), and does anyone know someone in the Herefordshire region they would recommend? Or should I simply put it up for sale on this forum as it is? As it stands, I plan to do the latter and put it up for sale as soon as I can visit to take some photos. I'd just like to open it up to the forum in case there are any alternative options out there! Chris
  2. Yeah I feared this as soon as she fired up, engine oil is about 40% the way up between the high and low marks. I will drop her off to a garage for a deeper look, but I imagine the outcome will be the same. Thanks zmanalex, you may well hear from me soon. Cheers guys
  3. My 2003 zed has developed a concerning and significant knocking sound coming from the engine bay, after starting it cold this afternoon. I fear the worst, but I thought I would share it on here for any opinions in the slim chance that it could be something common or (relatively) minor? After recording this video, I have not and do not plan to drive the car until it is diagnosed or repaired. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16iYwMi8B9ul7-N0prC4smQcjqzhr-nlh/view?usp=sharing. Mileage is 116,000, it was last serviced in March (and has been serviced yearly throughout its history). Back in April it did develop a misfire but this was quickly found to be a faulty coil pack and repaired. It has run without issue since then, up until starting it today. As with most car issues this has developed at a fantastic time, with a significant career and location change for me coming up at the end of this week... and garages fully booked with MOTs! Any help / condolences would be greatly appreciated. Chris

  7. Long exposure taken in car on the M1 in heavy fog. The camera was jammed underneath my passenger seat headrest so not an ideal setup but it did the job!
  8. I'm afraid it's been sold! Sorry about that, I should have updated the thread. In case you are looking for similar, yes this was pretty much a direct replacement and I was able to stream bluetooth without problem in my GT, all you need is 2 InCarTec adapters (if you want to keep the steering controls working), one is the main harness and another is an adapter specific to the make of your head unit. I am not sure if it's different for non BOSE but there is plenty of info on the forum that will help! InCarTec harness http://incartec.co.uk/pages/Product.aspx?P=2975 InCarTec adaptor for your make of head unit (Kenwood in this case) http://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=2647 Hope this helps!
  9. For sale is a Kenwood DDX4028BT Head Unit that was removed from my car for an upgraded unit. It is in excellent condition and fully working with all harness' and cables included. I will also include the incartec steering control adaptor cable (for the controls on the steering wheel), however this was not working when it was in the car. It could have been as simple as a loose connection but I believe it is faulty, regardless everything else works as normal and this is simple to replace should you want the steering controls. The head unit does have a 'Nav' option on the home screen and there is a port for a GPS cable on the rear. I don't believe maps are installed and I have found no information on whether it is possible, therefore I have priced it accordingly (if it is easy to install navigation then this is a bargain!). Further information on the unit can be found here: http://www.caraudioc...8bt_p-26848.htm £150 delivered. Thanks for looking!
  10. Some good going that. Yeah the weight will shift to the front. Rear might have lifted briefly but then how we're you leaving skid marks if their wasn't really enough weight over the rears to keep enough contact with the road to take rubber off your tyres. Especially with water between the tyres and asphalt. Did you get out and check for the skidmarks? Just curious. I think the skidmarks he was referring to were brown in colour and difficult to get out in the wash...
  11. Stripped the GPS wire and tried placing it on the motherboard to get a connection but couldn't get a consistent signal, decided against risking soldering it so have just gone without for now. Have contacted a nearby Pioneer repair centre to see if they could offer anything, although it'll probably cost more than it's worth. As for now i'll just have to learn how to use one of these mystical devices...
  12. I have recently moved my Pioneer Avic-f930bt from my old car to the 350z. Unfortunately in the process the connector for the GPS module got stuck in the back of the head unit. In a frustrated attempt to remove it, the connector and housing have torn off the motherboard - fantastic news! What are my options from here? I was hoping I could simply strip the wire from the GPS module and solder that to the motherboard, would anyone know if that's even likely to work? Far from an expert with this so sorry in advance for any stupid questions Back of head unit for comparison, GPS connector is middle right of this picture.
  13. Thanks! Will keep an eye on it
  14. Had a look under my car and noticed there's some scrapes on the Y-pipe. Unfortunately I can't get a better look as I don't have access to a ramp but should I be worried? In particular at the top right of the second picture. Car drives absolutely fine but it's hard to tell if it's blowing or not. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. #

    First pictures!

Finally got around to taking the first photo's of my new zed. Shame about the bug splats, might have been enjoying the surrounding country roads a bit too much Could probably use a touch of editing, but i'm hopeless at that!
  16. As it turns out that car was a 350z. Relatively new to forum so just saying hi! 2003 GT in Gunmetal Grey. Not the greatest picture and taken in dim light, but hopefully i'll be able to upload some more in the future. It's quite a step up from my first car! Chris

    350z GT

Recently had a look at some and I'm now swaying towards a coupe sorry! Really appreciate the help though
  18. Funny you say that because I had a similar feeling when I phoned, not sure why, I think I was expecting the owner to be more enthusiastic about it, especially considering it's mileage. The fact it's still available after 2 months is surprising. I'll probably leave it but as I travel past Gloucester on the M5 sometimes, it's tempting to have a quick look.
  19. Thanks for all the replies, I feel that it's good value for the mileage but I agree that it's expensive for an 04. I'm personally looking for an OEM car with this spec, so it is tempting but then again I know there will probably be just as good examples, with higher mileage for cheaper.
