Two builders go into the pub after a hard day's work. They're sat drinking for a while when a very smartly dressed man walks in and
orders a drink. The two began to speculate about what the man did for a living.
"I'll bet he's an accountant." said the first builder.
"Looks more like a stockbroker to me." argued the second.
They continued to debate the subject for a good while until eventually the first builder needed to use the toilet. On walking in, he saw the smartly dressed man standing at a urinal. "Excuse me mate, but me and my friend have been arguing over what a smartly dressed fella like you does for a living?" the builder said to the man.
Smiling the man replied, "I'm a logical scientist."
"A what?" asked the builder.
"Let me explain" the man continued, "Do you have a goldfish at home?"
A bit puzzled, but intrigued the builder decided to play along, "Yes, I do as it happens."
"Well then it's logical to assume that you either keep it in a bowl or a pond. Which is it?"
"A pond" the builder replied.
"Well then it's logical to assume that you have a large garden." The builder nodded his agreement. So the man continued, "which
means it's logical to assume you have a large house." "I have a 6 bedroom house that I built myself." the builder said proudly.
"Given that you have such a large house, it's logical to assume that you are married..."
The builder nodded again, "Yes, I'm married and we have three children."
"Then it's logical to assume that you have a healthy sex life." "Five nights a week!" the builder boasted.
The man smiled a little, "Therefore it's logical to assume you don't masturbate often."
"Never!" the builder exclaimed.
"Well there you have it" the man explained, "That's logical science at work. From finding out that you have a goldfish, I've
discovered the size of your garden, all about your house, your family and your sex life!"
The builder left, very impressed by the man's talents.
On returning to the bar the other builder asked, "I see that smart bloke was in there, did you find out what he does?"
"Yeah," replied the first, "He's a logical scientist.
"A what?" the puzzled second builder asked.
"Let me explain" the first builder continued, "Do you have a goldfish at home?"
"No" replied his mate.
"Well, then you're a w4nker !"

I will never buy anything from the States again. Had a similar problem with LED rear lights, cost me in total over £95 when I had to send them back faulty, return postage and import duty lost.

Fair .... I am put off I think with the previous comments, adding yours too - though, as writing - it occured to me I work for an American Co, and have loads of colleauges over there, maybe could have someone collect / check and then fedex me .. Hmmm food for thought! -

Right, off that then!! - So as per OP, any decent? any reccomendations?

I've just bought an imported 2003 Auto with 32,000 miles on the clock. Having bought and sold many a car (mainly performance) Id question the mileage but it drives and feels very tight and everything underneath looks like new! Its been lowered by about 25mm I think, drilled and grooved discs at the front (non brembo). Induction upgrade and earthing kit under the bonnet and cat back exhaust upgrade.
I changed out the rear pads last week as they were rattling over every bump only to find that they had loads of meat on them. I replaced them anyway in the hope that the new set would be a better fit, but they still rattle like mad! I believe there is an anti rattle kit that can be purchased?
I get a slight antifreeze smell in the cabin every now and again, but I have no fluid loss and no gunk or water signs in the oil. No wet carpet so no leakage from the heater matrix and temp is constant with getting up to temp fairly quickly and staying put. I used to have a supra that had the same but every specialist that I took that to found no fault.
My concerns are that there are a lot of posts about common problems that seem to occur every week for someone. By buying Jap or German all the time I thought I was going to buy into a solid car on this occasion? Fingers crossed I have?
Just picked up the same this week, though mine sporting a 52plate - You know I was wondering what that rattle was!!!!! thanks .....
I get a "hot" smell in the cabin, more oily than antifreeze - but I've given her a good look through and see no obvious anything.
Not overly concerned at the moment, though I bought her as my toy so intending to work on her = nothing that can't be fixed

Going through her tip to toe, floor to ceiling - as she's totally unknown to me, will replace all fluids and filters /full service, replace or repair any worn anythings, replace / upgrade headlights.
Pretty much it for the moment ... once I'm happy with everything as it should be .... will start with the mods

Depends what your used to I suppose. My 350 has the best lights of any car I've ever had.
True enough that, The Merc and Seat I have are both WAY better than the Z "at the moment"

Alright boys! Well maybe some of the earlier ones had their headlights upgraded before you got them? Also it depends what you've been used to? Just trying to put a bit of perspective on it! í ½í¸‡ Same with sound systems too?

Maybe some of you guys need your eyes checking lights are really good on the early Z's my 53 plate is great in the dark rarely need to use high beam unless its a properly dark back road
Honestly, on mine .... I'd be better off duct taping two torches to the bonnet!

Just aimed at the JDM owners here ....
Need to replace my nearside front light pod / cluster > thingy! - have already read here they are different connectors to UK models.
Question is, buy it from USA?? - is there any specific type to look for? better/best ... worthy suppliers?
With that in mind, are there any UK JDM specialists for all round bits and bobs? or is there really not that much difference with regards to part replace!?
thanks
Justin

Some of them have gone cloudy by now and can be improved by polishing the headlight, I've never found my DE headlights that bad personally though.
Yeah, one side needs a little TLC (nearside) in the way of haze, but the inside has corroded the chrome - which wont be helping, so I'll be replacing > when I understand what I can replace with (different plug in to UK headlamp as I've just been reading) -
High Beam however is perfect and >

Bi-Xenons on the later cars are brilliant. Very rarely use full beam. I've heard, even with the Xenons the 276 models lights are pretty poor.
To be honest, I would consider them down right dangerous! Certainly on mine at least.... will have to do some research and see what my options are... any advise gratefully accepted.

If I am correct, you have an Import, so you may have halogen lights rather than HIDs, which would make yours even worse. The early lights aren't great, but the 06+ are great
thanks for that ... Looks like 1st mod isn't going to be what I thought it was then!
one of them needs replacing anyway, nearside has some corrosion going on (inside / chrome) - looks like some water got in there at some point.
Will do some more searching for options, seems a few threads now I look deeper into it...

Hows this? ... http://s204.photobucket.com/user/Jus1_photo/library/Mobile%20Uploads
will take some more after I clean and polish her, looks clean in the pics - assure you that isn't the case.. not "MY" clean anyway
( and the red wire, if you spot it ... has already been "relocated" )

took her out for my usual Wednesday night pub visit, My 1st night time drive in her....
Now, is it me/mine, or are the headlights just sh1te!? - I asked my mate who has an 04' GT and, he say's his are poor too .... honestly, it's like running down the road with two tea lights in a jam jar! - I actually pulled into a service area to check they weren't on side only. High beam is as it should be. - "blinding"
I've just seen the adjustment thread, so I might have a play with that - but they seem weak to me regardless of align.
Guess HID? or?
regardless of all that, Oh boy do I love this car already!!! ... Grin factor 10+

I had the occasion to take a 4hr "speed awareness course" this year .....They opened up with "Reasons for Speeding"
Answer ranged from, late for a meeting, didn't know the road, fast music, following the car in front, it was only 4mph over the limit, was having some fun etc etc ...
The morning progressed, and it's amazing what, as a driver we DON'T actually know! (forgotten?) ... and I've spent 25+ years on a bike 24/7 and the past 8yrs in a car ... (that wont add up .... but that's another story all together)
Like, when you signed for your drivers license, you probably didn't read all the small print - that bit saying you agree to keeping yourself up to date with the Highway code (about 70 changes in the past 12 months alone!!)
They finished the day with
THEN asked us, flipping back on the chart we started with - Which one of the excuses we gave would we use in a court of law - baring in mind if you do kill someone, it's not the Police but a Jury that you will have to convince ....
Having said all that ..... I tend to drive / ride with what my friends and I call, the "Isle of Man Rules" ... if you've been there, you'll get it
