  2. Still not sure what it was but this morning it stopped!

I have no idea what it was, car isn't displaying any irregular behavior or quirks! So I'm stumped but thank everyone for their input, really appreciate the support this forum gives from it's members!

  3. squeal from a loose/worn belt? pop the bonnet and listen for any weird noises when you start the engine from cold.

Had all belt / clutch / DMF / rad fans / thermostat / coolant hoses changed in July with full coolant flush and change.

I'd still check your aux belts for tension, they will have slackened off a bit now and may need a wee tweak, especially if your only hearing it when the car is cold. If the whistle goes away after the cars been driven / warmed up, then it's most likely the belts.

Or you have tightened them a bit too much and a bearing is starting to complain when cold?

Either way, tightest is not bestest, correct adjustment is what you want. :)

Well I'm hoping the mechanic didn't over tighten the belt but he's done all my work so I trust him. I'll have a look tonight if its not too cold and maybe get him to have a listen if they seem fine.

    Thanks guys!

  4. Long shot but plenum tightened down?

Good Shout but I only had it off once about 18 months ago for MopedMark to "bling" for me. I've also bought and fitted stainless bolts for the engine so all checked recently..

  5. Is it when you are moving or stationary?

Usually only when moving, but I thought I could hear it this morning on tick over on the driveway - but not 100% sure it was the same noise as I don't know where its coming from.

  7. Afternoon everyone!

I'm hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction here...

For a little while now whenever I drive my 350 DE when its cold there is a whistle coming from somewhere..

Originally I thought it was just the wind catching something, but it happens every morning when I leave home and I'm on my way to work regardless of the weather..

Then I thought it was the small bit at the top of my windscreen where it joins the roof because the little plastic/rubber cover piece flew off! But I've blocked that up and sealed it.. but the whistling noise is still there..

This morning however, it was particularly cold and frosty as F***! I thought I could even hear it whilst my Zed was on tick over warming up?

When I've eventually got the car warm and been driving a little while it seems to disappear? So, any ideas? Should I be worried or just ignore it?

Any help would be most appreciated guys!

    Rich

  8. I don't suppose anyone on here has a WV2 grey front bumper they're willing to sell?

Preferably in good condition as I really don't want to have to get it sprayed due to stone chips etc..

If no-one has a WV2 grey, then I may be persuaded to go a different colour depending on the quality.

    Thanks in advance!

    Rich

  9. Afternoon All!

Here I have for the sale the infamous plastic DE engine cover that is commonly sought after!

I have it painted in Ford Monza Blue as this was the theme for my engone bay at one point, It also has black carbon wrapped lettering which has unfortunately lifted off due to the heat from the engine.

    Only looking for £20.00 + £2.50 carriage.

    Thanks!

  11. I will be putting up a 350Z Roadster as soon as I have the pictures sorted out. Gun metal grey, 40K on the clock, black leather interior, MOT and full history. I want £7500 for it as well. PM if you like?

  12. Like Johnnyboy I am confused. Mine boiled during last hot Sunday. Neither fan working. Connected battery directly to fan motor terminals. Drivers side both terminals worked. Near side only one worked. Replaced nearside motor and now, on the car, nearside comes on but not drivers side. Put AC on and still only nearside works. Should OEM's both come on together ? Do I have a separate problem with drivers side fan ,(relay ?) because it works when direct to battery. HELP !

Both sides should come on when AC is on. Probably the same issue everyone else gets where the contacts in the motor are too clogged up. My advice would be take the motor apart and clean up like others have before, then reconnect it all and see what happens?

  13. Right...

"got it up to running temp and 1 kicked in, put A/C on and both came on".

That's good information... I think it shows that I have a (separate) problem with the IPDM/ECU.... remember mine now both come on full at normal operating temperature (with no AC), and again both on full when I turn on the AC (with a cold engine).

Looking through every post I can find, some people refer to both fans being on all the time with Mishimoto's. with single running only being available with OEM fans - which sounds illogical now I come to think of it...

Anybody got practical experience of fixing a "lack of single running" issue? What did you do? (in fact, what is going on?)

(and Rich, I mean it about buying your old stuff if you want to get rid of it)

    John

Hmm, could be a different ongoing issure you have then.. Yea I havent even had time to to clear all the crap away from when I changed it on the weekend so as soon as I'm sorted and got em ready to sell or whatever, I'll PM you Johnny

  14. Right...

Put my Zed through the Autotest to see if the fans were working at all. Ran it twice, so 6 times the vehicle went through the process and the fans didn't kick in once!

Tested the fuse / Relay, all working fine so out with the old fan shroud.

In with the new Mishimoto fans, and boom put it all back together works a treat. Ran autotest and they fired straight up, got it up to running temp and 1 kicked in, put A/C on and both came on.

Personally, I highly recomend the Mishimoto fans I don't think their too loud at all. In fact I think they sound too healthy! Plus with my stereo booming and my Invidia Dual exhaust I would struggle hearing them anyway.

Gone back into my garage today to have full silicone Mishimoto hoses and new thermostat fitted, then full coolant bleed!
