    Write it down to retain it I have a notes section on my phone put all I learn from here re zed things onto a note thread I have for the zed otherwise it would disappear into the blue yonder! Lol! Interesting tho for future ref😎

    Don't buy another Zed cos they hold their price get another cos you really really WANT another one! Use your instincts and common sense plus what you already know about motors in general plus your experience of your previous zed. Get one and flippin enjoy it! It's never gonna be a sensible buy it's a love of the shape, power, noise all rolled into one😎

    4) he has taken up a 2nd job to cover the monthly maintenance charge the garage in question have signed him up to without asking. And that's ontop of his £2500 bill he's had to pay upfront 😱

     

    So possibly personal time to get onto forum maybe limited these days?

    Council MOT centers are a good alternative. They might not be the most knowledgeable about zeds, but they have exactly zero incentive to fail you because they don't do repairs.

    Oh never heard of these! 😱 na council get enough of my dosh! My local chaps will do fine now I know what they mustn't do. Thanks tho😊

    Yeah do you actually work??? But you yourself have said elsewhere you live on here! I have found tho that it is slightly addictive lol! Enjoyable banter and learning a bit too :-)

    Mine is due on Thursday, so I'm taking it to Hi Tec Motors, just down the road from me.

     

    Don't think you need to take it to a specialist, I just tell them not to use the rollers for a brake test. :thumbs:

     

    Why is this?

    Something to do with the diff can't remember the exact reason but am sure whackywill will know‼ï¸ðŸ˜‡

    I left my car at a garage that was recommend by a couple of people on here (not an official trader though). I put it in for a full service and had everything changed that should have been done at some point in the last 10 years. Basically I wanted the service record to start again.

     

    I brought all the parts but non of the oils/liquids. I also had a few other things done and it came to £1k which was the upper limit of what I expected.

     

    When the mechanic was about to take it for a drive he hit the brakes hard and one of the rear brake pipes (not lines) exploded. He took a look at it and said both pipes were corroded and would need repairing. The bill for this has come in at £1800! He said the brakes disks were also corroded and needed replacing but he went ahead and did this without telling me.

     

    He also said the drop links would need replacing at some point and they would cost ~£250 each (parts only). I've checked on-line and its more like £80 each so I can't help but feel like somethings not right.

     

    I also had a front end respray which was quite cheap, but he just rang me up and said the car has been resprayed before and they didn't have the right tint to match the new colour so would need to respray it again when the new tint arrives on Monday. However the car would also be ready to be picked up on Monday. they have an oven so can paint and dry in a few hours, does this sound right?

     

    The bill is heading on towards half the amount I paid for the car but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if its reasonable or not. All prices he gives are ex VAT, who doesn't pay VAT on car repairs?

    Um Randy_Baton it'd be good to have an update from you on what the actual bill came to and if your concerns were listened to and acknowledged and a reduction in the final bill? It would stop a lot of people wondering what the outcome was!

    No need for anyone to stay clear - just let it be a lesson to all our less experienced members to give very clear instruction when dealing with any garage or dealership. They soon know not to mess ;)
