  1. The standard exhaust system runs as follows:

    Headers -> Cats -> Y pipe -> Mid pipe -> Silencer

Cobra system is the mid pipe and silencer, the resonated one has a mid pipe with a silencer to reduce the noise, non resonated is a straight through pipe so more noise.

Systems like the Miltek, Ark Grip, Inviia Gemini etc are Cat back systems, so include the Y pipe as well.

I personally wanted more noise, without it costing a fortune and without being too over the top for long trips. I bought the resonate cobra system from CS, it fits the bill perfectly. Not sure if the group buy is still going, otherwise I think normal price is £440, it's a bit cheaper for the louder non resonated system.

  2. I don't think the resonated cobra is particularly loud tbh, but it sounds loads better than standard and that was what I was after. Then again I am used to an e39 540i bmw (4.4l v8), which was near enough a straight through if it wasn't for the back box, loud!

How you think a non res doesn't drone I'll never know! Get the resonated version at the wrong revs on cruise, i.e 2-2.5k and its pretty droney, unless with the res its all droney and you can't tell the difference :p

  3. Oh and I'm not meaning to sound negative, just giving a very honest opinion, I do love the way it sounds and it was a bargain with the group buy from CS, overall I am very pleased and impressed with its quality, both in fitment and build.

    Cheers

    Mike

  4. Rotated the clamps today out of view and pushed them further in closer to the car. They no longer stick out as much, look fine on the inside where the pipe comes through.

I hav noticed after a drive to Southampton to see my brother this weekend that I get cabin drone between 2k to 2.5k rpm. So around 60mph in 6th will be a drone zone.

So its not completely drone free, but it wasn't difficult to work around it.

  5. Yeah they are a little long, also the clamps are on show, so hopefully shortening the elbow piece will go some way to hiding them, unless they can be rotated 90 degrees so they are hidden

  6. Had my resonated fitted Wednesday, sounds sooo much better, quite a warm sound if that makes sense. Though part of me wishes I went non res for the hooligan in me! Is it significantly louder if you hear them back to back I wonder, videos never tell a true story.

Main problem with stock exhaust is how quiet they are at the bottom end of the rev range, this sorts it right out!

Tempted to do the cats and y pipe now to see how that sounds, shame HFC are so pricy! Almost tempting to go de cats, and take stock cats when you go for an mot and just pay for them to be swapped over and back again each year

  7. No uneven tyre wear, but I do have a front creak going over speed bumps and its tram lining quite badly. So I believe him about the bushes being worn, I never mentioned I was having any issues.

I did take the car to castle combe a few weeks ago so maybe that polished the bushes off

  8. 'He' being the guy working on my car. No, was mentioned it would be reccomended after the bush change? At the moment i have told him to hold fire on the bushes.

So I can see what my options are

  9. What sort of labour is involved, he said its around 3hrs to change them, and they keep poly bushes in stock so he could get it done tomorrow morning.

He also reccomended a full alignment at £120 inc vat which I think would be a good idea. Is the price about right? I assume it would be a proper geometry check.

    Cheers

  10. So my car is in for a p3 service, including diff and gearbox oil, clutch and brake fluid, etc etc

They said the car is looking great, the cobra exhaust was a great fit and is on looking shiny. The only thing they picked up on was that both front tie bar bushes are very worn.

He said it comes in at £318 to replace both with poly bushes. The part from Nissan comes with the bush and is over 400 each for the part. Am I right in thinking this is the better known banana arm???

    Also what are my options.

    Cheers

    Mike

Here it is on the day I drove it home.

So in July I bought load of detailing gear.

I ended up washing, clay barring, then 3 stage machine polishing the car.

Took me all day, this is how it looked at the end of the day, after a coat of nattys black hole (hides deeper swirls the polisher couldnt remove) and good layer of wax.

For the machine polishing I bought a Kestrel DAS6

And this Auto Finesse 3 stage polishing kit

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Auto-Finesse-REVKIT-Revitalise-Kit/dp/B00DD51VRA/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1414442588&sr=1-3&keywords=auto+finesse+illusion

Of course, the car is now filthy again, but it does clean up quite nicely when I get chance to give it a good wax!

  12. It works with older android devices, I have an old HTC one X which is running a fairly old version of android now, that pairs just fine very reliably.

My current android phone, a budget Motorola Moto G, with latest android hasnt a chance in hell of staying connected.

I do not know if it is a hardware or software issue however
