  1. If you can private message me the exact address/location I wouldnt mind popping over. Theres east lothian, midlothian, west lothian etc...
  2. me too! when are you off and where abouts on the island are you Leave on Friday mate. Going to Cala'n Bosch for 2 weeks. Yourself?
  3. Ps, just realised how terrible my grammar was in the last post haha! My brain has now switched off and is en-route to Menorca by the looks of things!
  4. Well what a coincidence! After posting this in the morning I found google searches of people who have chased it up with their local MP in the same situation. I called mine and he said he would get on to the home office straight away. Now what a coincidence. 2 and a half hours after contacting him and he having said he would contact the home office, we now magically get a call saying its been processed and can be picked up or posted next day delivery. I can now look forward to the holiday! Firstly thanks for all the helpful comments and input, excellent on a non car related topic and much appreciated. Would also strongly recommend anyone in this same position to contact their MP and get them to progress it. We waited for a call back for 3 weeks and got nothing, but 2 hours after contacting an MP the full thing is done. Coincidence... I think not! Anyway thanks again guys for all your help, truly appreciated. Regards, James
  5. Good idea mate but I imagine they make a fortune from people leaving it late and then paying the extra to upgrade or have a face to face appointment, think the price doubles. In my opinion its all down to money. Apparently they closed 6 overseas processing centres for passports last year and this is another reason why there's a backlog. Again, cost saving.
  6. That 97% figure has been on the website for weeks mate, would like to see the proof to back it up! If only 3% were delayed there surely wouldn't be such a huge issue nationwide? My mrs is a renewal aswell. What makes it worse is her cousin sent his off the same day, he doesn't go on holiday for another few weeks yet, but his came back in about 2 and a half weeks. Appears its just luck if yours is done or not on that evidence...
  7. Thanks mate. Been through this aswell, doesn't quite seem as black and white to the passport office as it is on there! Read a couple more posts on random forums (net mums I think haha!) and they have had success going through their MP. Spoken to mine today and waiting a call back after they have spoken to passport office. Fingers crossed. Thanks again bud
  8. Thanks for the help so far. The waiting time for an appointment face to face is 3 weeks and before we knew we would be in this position and enquired they said it wasn't necessary as it would deffinately take no longer than 6 weeks! In reply to why we booked the holiday, it wasnt planned. It's a family holiday and with my mrs being pregnant we weren't planning on going away. Her parents offered to pay half when they asked us to come, otherwise we wouldn't have, so the passport was then needed whereas otherwise we would've waited till the winter as its the quietest time to get it sorted.
  9. Hi guys, Massive, massive long shot here! Clutching at straws is an understatement! Basically, myself, my mrs, her wee boy and her family are due to go on holiday on Friday. Her passport has been in the Durham passport office for 7 weeks now and still being told its waiting to be processed by an examiner. She's also 7 months pregnant and the stress isn't helping, aside from this we therefore can't really go away any later as she will be too far on to fly. Anyway end of sob story. I've read everything online on BBC etc but has anyone had any first hand experience or any advice for us to get it here by Friday? Or even better, does anyone work in the Durham passport office that could help?! Any help would be appreciated as you can probably tell how desperate I'm getting now! Thanks, James
  10. Let us know how you get on too Jamesyy, if yours is also shocks then i will defo get mine seen to asap lol Will do mate. Sent it into Nissan to get them to do a free health check to narrow down the noise, they have come back with the rear drop links and anti roll bar bushes. Everything else appears fine to them. I have no intentions of them doing the work, my mechanic is a family friend who knows his stuff more than anyone I know, so will be going to him. Problem is he's in Newcastle and I'm in Edinburgh so wont be giving him it until 10th May - once he gets is and checks it over I'll let you know exactly whats what. Imagine you will have yours sorted before then, but will keep you in the loop bud. Ok mate, that's the same thing that the last 2 mechanics have said about mine once they looked under it, but they were both wrong but yeah, good luck and keep us posted! Alright mate, ended up getting my parts done this weekend just gone. It was the drop links and anti roll bar bushes, so unfortunately for you I'm not much help - no noises atall now! Have you got yours sorted yet?

    MPSS

Thanks for the info mate. That's put me right off them! Tyreleader are the same price so will go through them instead. On a bit of a battle against time to get them here by, so dont fancy encountering the same issues as you did!

    MPSS

Hi all, Going to buy two rear MPSS's for my 350z, is tyre universe the best place to buy them from? http://www.tyre-univ...ormal-tyre.html Thought that was pretty reasonable (£144.30 per tyre, to save everyone clicking the link)! If anyone has any better sites/cheaper places then let me know! Also, from experience, does anyone know if it's next day delivery? Thanks, James

  14. Pleased to see you got it sorted bud. I think mine could well be the same, in the garage getting it checked over now but that would make sense for the noises I'm getting. Thanks for keeping this updated mate!
  15. Sounds exactly the same as mine mate. I posted up a thread and was told the drop links aswell, not had them done yet. Will be taking it down to the garage in a couple of weeks so if yours isn't sorted by then and I can figure out what it is will let you know, likewise if you get to the bottom of it first give me a shout! Does it knock but also sound like a creak/metal straining noise at times?
  16. Listened to the noise from the outside of the car, and sounds more like a continuous clicking noise when you're outside, and then a metal straining/creaking noise on the inside? Still think a good place to start would be the drop link?
  17. Thanks for the replies. Will have a look at this when I get a chance. To be honest, I've had it a couple of months and was meant to be going in to get alot of wear and tear items replaced for peace of mind (and me being a fussy bugger!) as despite it having FSH and no MOT failures/advisories and only 29k miles, there is no receipts and no knowledge of any other work the car has had done. So this will be added to my list! Thanks again.
  18. Hi, I've read plenty about the rear axles on these cars and read the fix with re-greasing it, but most seem to say they only click once and then it goes. Mine is becoming increasingly worse. It now creaks/rattles/squeaks pretty loud ALL the time when driving it, does get a bit better when the road is very smooth and theres no steering movement. Just to add, this is ONLY on the drivers side rear axle, and nowhere else. I am going to get the axle looked at for the common problem anyway, but spoken to a mate who's a mechanic and he says it could be the cv joint gone which could spill the grease and make it worse? It's a second car so wont be driving it anymore until it's sorted, which isnt too much of a pain, but gets in the way of my fun! Any ideas or anyone had anything similar? Thanks, James
  19. Hi guys, had a search but can't find anything... My passenger side window (sometimes, not all times) drops half way and stays there when the passenger gets out the car and I lock the car. It only drops after I have hit the lock button and the drivers side window stays all the way up. Has anybody else had the same problem or know what the likely cause would be? Not a major issue now I know to look out for it just confused as to why it doesn't happen all the time...(and need to remember and check everytime). Thanks in advance, James.
  20. Thanks mate but just too late, bought some last night.
  21. Had a quick search but couldn't find much. Where do you guys recommend to get 350z mats for a 2004 model? Something OEM looking but decent quality. Found some on a quick google search for about $80-90 with a Z on them which look alright. Thanks.
  22. Well my current insurer (quote me happy, part of Aviva group) wouldn't insure me cause I'm under 25. A lot of companies don't do mirrored no-claims bonuses either so was becoming quite difficult from the ones who do cover me to get a competitive quote. Ended up going through Adrian Flux, they sorted out a fully comp policy with a company who specialises in second/weekend cars and don't take NCB or anything into account. Not long till Thursday now!
  23. Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to spend all day tomorrow calling around insurance companies and seeing what they can do. Another reason I don't want to take out an annual policy just now is my current insurance is due up end of March which would then fit in perfectly with starting a new policy to cover both cars, extra years no claims, one premium (hopefully) etc... I'll let you all know how I get on but already fearing paying well over the odds for short term cover.
  24. Thanks bud, going to do that.
