  1. picture up loaded on my control panel just now. Went to drive off for lunch. Engine pulled back, sluggish, engine light came on, ESP light came on, skidding light came on (I didn't skid). All lights on constant now. What do you think is wrong? will I be able to drive home from work tonight? @z Fanatic

  3. Hi Guys,I've had no luck searching the forum for this.Once on fri, once on mon, and once today, my engine has 'pulled back' for 1 second , whilst I'm driving a constant 50 or 60mph.My foot is steady on the pedal and I felt the engine hesitate for 1 second and then continue.Any ideas what it could be?My mechanic had a theory and loosened my fuel cap (i have 1/4 tank petrol) on Tuesday to ease pressure? It didn't stop it pulling back today.thanks in advance edited: new photo
  4. Who knows how long I can safely listen to my radio for when my engine is switched off, before I would run my battery flat. ignition is on so radio can play. no fans or lights running. I get worried after 15mins, and turn radio off.
  5. Hi, I've checked the first 2 pages of the for sale pages here but the only centre consoles I can see for sale are the part that goes around the handbrake. I'm looking for a replacement centre console part that goes around the heater controls and the gear stick. You can see from the photo that I want to replace it because I have drilled several holes in it for an iTrip device for iPod which I now don't use. is anyone selling a 2nd hand one? what is this part called? is it easier / cheaper for someone to fill the holes and wrap it? who does that? Also, I'm looking for 1 drivers side air vent because my mobile phone holder has broken 1 of the vent blades. many thanks in advance
  6. My car had been mis- firing only on tick over for a few months. When I took it for an mot , it was on tick over for a while, then the engine management light came on. When plugged in, it said "engine mis-fire" . But since the code has been cleared off, the light hasn't come on again, nor has it mis-fired. Any ideas on the cause? Spark plugs were replaced 5000 miles ago. Could it be the spark plugs leads? Anything else to check? Many thanks in advance.
  7. 2004 350z 112000 miles on the clock. I have just mot'd and it passed. I specifically asked for them to check what was causing the rattling /knocking sound I hear when going over little bumps/uneven roads. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the car. They couldn't find play in anything from suspension arms etc. because of the cars age /mileage, I changed front and rear anti roll bar links , but it hasn't stopped the rattling. I then replaced the front shock absorber struts, which also hasn't stopped the rattling. I took it back to the mot centre and they put my car on the mot testing ramp to aggressively shake it. You can't hear any rattling /knocking in the workshop. I can only hear the knocking when I'm driving around 20mph, over uneven road. The knocking sounds like the mot guys should be able to diagnose the cause, but we can't hear it in the workshop. It's been making this noise for over a year now, but it's just started to bug me. The sound is not getting worse. I owned this car since 2005 so I know it shouldn't rattle like this. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be please? Many thanks in advance.
  8. "humpy bonnet from the HR" where do i look for this? this will be classed as a mod on my car insurance wont it? higher premiums... do you know if i can buy a new standard bonnet one? i#d like to check out 3 options. 2nd hand bonnet, new standard bonnet, new modded bonnet. thanks
  9. Hi all, following on from this post about paint bubbles on my bonnet, i have decided i want to buy a new bonnet and have it sprayed. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to buy the best priced bonnet for a 2004 350Z bonnet? Do they even manufacture these still? Or would someone recommend a scrap dealer with a non bubbley/rusty bonnet? Im not interested in switching my rusty 11 year old bonnet for a 9 year bonnet that will rust again soonish. what year did they stop making 350Z's ? im wondering what age a compatible bonnet could be? thanks, Nic
  10. cool ok. thanks for that info. I've read on here that some people leave the wax on for an hour or more, to "soak" in, before they buff it off. I have noticed that once you let wax dry on a panel, it is much harder to buff off. Is leaving products on for over an hour something that you would recommend to get the most out of a product? and which products would you leave on for an hour compared to buffing off after 2minutes? so I now understand that polish is the most important prep stage. can u point me in the direction of reviews of best polishes to use. (I have minor swirl scratches in places)
  11. Wax on top isn't essential, no, but you can with EX-P. EX-P will provide good protection by itself, but by adding a wax on top you can alter the final look and obviously it's another layer of added protection. So, if i've polished, and then glazed (with poorboys black hole), which next 1 step would you do? sealant (poorboys EX-P) or wax (poorboys natty paste) ? and why? because i'm not sure i NEED to do both, but i understand i need to put something over the glaze to keep it on. and how would i decide between Natty Paste Wax, Natty Paste Wax Blue, and Natty Paste Wax Red? for my Sunset Z.
  12. ah... so "quick detailer" is a very mild cleaner that you can use that wont take the wax layer off? I havent bought any quick detailer? what is quick detailer made from? is it necessary to buy a bottle or can i make my own with 50:50 water:all purpose cleaner?
  13. Ah, just the reply i needed. Thank you very much ilogikal1. So after i have glazed and waxed the whole car, for example, then i get a bird poo splat. How do i remove it, what product do i use? because i'm thinking if i clean the localised poo off, i'm gonna ruin my wax layer and go right down to the shampoo stage.? Do i need to repeat all 6/7 steps on that localised area to 'repair' the bird poo area?
  14. and Poorboys is sold in sizes 16oz, 32oz, 128oz. Can anyone give me an idea how many car cleans these sizes do?
  15. So much really great info on here. I have read a lot. so to summarise what I think I've learned: 1. Soak (to loosen dirt) 2. Wash with shampoo and a long pile noodley mitt. 3. Remove tar spots and bug splats. 4. Clay bar with shampoo water for lube. (only every 6 months). do I need to shampoo wash again after clay or tar removal? 5. Polish (abrasive) if necessary for swirl removal. If not, use Glaze (non abrasive) I'd like to use Poorboys glaze but my car is Sunset/Orange so do I use Poorboys Black hole(for dark colours) or white diamond(for light colours)? 6. Then use a Sealant or a Wax. I thought it was either or, but some use both? can you explain? I was going to use Poorboys Ex-P Sealant (for metallic colours). But i'm confused, do I need to wax after that? I have 5L of wash n wax (free and large quantity available) (how can it wash AND wax?) which I was going to use as the shampoo step. or is this combined product poor for the shampoo step? do I need a single shampoo product?
  16. thanks. am phoning insurance now to amend!
  17. what is a GT Pack then???? it looks like i'm going to have to amend my insurance!
  18. oh!!! I thought from all the conversations on here that I had gathered that "GT Pack" = sat nav, rays, metal door kicks. ?
  19. What do u mean Kyle? stubby aerial? orange painted brake fluid cover, Z badge instead of Nissan badge, new cd player? I told Privilege all of that, and he said it wasn't relevant. I confirmed that they were non-standard, but he said it doesn't need recording. I listed it as GT so that covered sat nav, rays alloys, metal door kicks. so I was happy with the end result.
  20. yes you're right. it hasn't increased my insurance by much, unless I cause an accident and then have to pay £550. and its listed now and I think "air filter +5bhp" is ok. I'll review it again next year as i've paid now. Thanks for the info.
  21. I bought my car with a plenum spacer fitted. (see profile gallery pic in "Jan 2014" folder). Can you tell me, What benefit does it give me? What would be involved to remove the plenum spacer and return it to standard? - what part? how much £ ? how much effort? I'm asking because it caused complications on my recent insurance renewal. They couldn't find it in their mods list. Privilege eventually put it down as "Air filter +5bhp gain" and increased my compulsory excess from £350 to £550, and increased my premium by £15.50
  22. I have no motoring convictions, no "at fault" claims, 13 years NCB. I'm 36, live UK from birth, driving for 19yrs. Privilege quote is £207.76 + mods £15.50 + legal assist £26.50 = £249.76 £0 voluntary excess. £550 compulsory excess. am VERY happy with that !
