  1. Hi David, a fair point....tbh, the 350 I bought from them hasn't been a bad car at all. But you are right, I need to be a bit smarter next time, to make sure I get the best deal from them or any trader.

Also with hindsight, from being on this forum, I now know a lot more about the cars than I did when I bought the 350 originally, and will hopefully look with a more critical eye.

I am wondering though, just out of curiosity, are there any members around the Peterborough area who 'know their onions' who might be able to spare an hour to look at a few of J17's offerings. Of course the usual incentives, alcoholic beverages, bar snacks (well crisps anyway), etc, will apply.....

  2. Hi,

Currently looking for a 370z, I have 2 options regarding my 350z, sell privately or part-ex.

I'm a lazy a**e so normally part-ex, if I do is it worth removing my mods and returning the car to standard.

    Same question for selling privately.

I haven't got many mods really, mostly small cosmetic, they are:-

    1. Black badges

    2. Black reflectors

    3. K&N filters

    4. Spacers from Tarmac, 20/25

    5. Ray's sprayed black

    6. Stubby

Also how much do you think it's worth, part-ex and private?.....It's an '08 ('57 plate) HR, twilight grey, full GT with sat-nav, 64,000 miles. Full Nissan service history until I bought it 2 years ago, Mitz has serviced it since then. New discs/pads by Mitz about 18 months ago, 4 MPSS fitted about 2,000 miles ago.

Sorry for the lengthy question......(well questions)

  3. Ok, so I have read a couple of topics about Junction 17.

Haven't really contributed as I actually bought my 350z from them....

Ok, so agreed not the best after sales but this didn't bother me, a few comments:-

    1. Asked prior to sale for 2 new tyres. These were fitted but were budget, my fault for not insisting on better tyres at the time (have subsequently replaced all tyres with MPSS)

    2. Full mot supplied but at next service at Cougar was told brakes shot, so new discs and pads were needed (again one of those things, happy now to have good quality discs, pads fitted, thanks Mitzvah)

    3. Had to buy lots of things, wasn't aware of at the time, decent mats, decent boot mat, cargo net, Bluetooth adapter, etc. I don't think Junction 17 stripped these items, I think there were taken out prior to part ex....but they add up to a lot of money.

    4. Paid for stupid warranty, my fault, should know better at my age, luckily haven't needed it.

    5. Maybe overpaid for my Zed, but then again got a cracking part-ex for my Z4.

In conclusion, I have had my car for 2 years now, I've had a few issues but no more than you would get with any other used car.

Anyway, you are probably wondering what my point is....

Well I want to upgrade to a 370, probably need to part-ex as cannot be bothered to sell private so just did a search on autotrader. 80 mile radius, low mileage, trade only.... 22 cars available, 10 are at Junction 17.

So do I ignore J17 because of their bad reputation, even though my experience wasn't that bad. Or if I do go to J17, how do I check I am getting a decent car (I'm not great with cars!!)

Would love to know your thoughts on this...

  4. Take it to a Nissan specialist, ideally a 350z specialist!

I had the same problem, asked my local garage to look at it (didn't have time to go to Cougar Store, who normally service my car) they couldn't find the fault (despite driving it, putting it on the ramp, etc) & suggested I just carry on driving the car until it got worst :scare: Then to bring it back in??

When I had a bit more time, I booked in into Cougar Store in Leicester, they diagnosed the fault straight away (compression/banana arm), they ordered the parts & fitted them a couple of weeks later. Job done, no more knocking :teeth:

  5. Have had no problems with my windows until tonight, wound down my passenger window, couldn't get it to move??

When I got home, quick search of the forum, found this thread and the saw the 'smack the door by the handle' comment..

Gave it a try, window wound up first time.

Thanks CrustyCrab....saved all that taping a black bag over the window routine!!!!

  6. Ok, so it's in the garage having MPSS fitted all round (and the knocking suspension looked at/sorted)

But that's it, I'm not spending any more money on this car....

I've not gone mad but have purchased/sorted the basics:-

Scorpion exhaust (well this was already on the car when I bought it)

    Stubby

Hands free adapter (works with my Blackberry)

    350 mats

    350 boot carpet

    Divider by I4N

    Mesh boot thing

    New discs/pads (thanks CS)

    Service (again thanks CS)

    Tarmac spacers

    K&N panel filters

Wheel respray Anthracite grey (Derby Alloys)

Black out vinyl to orange reflectors (cheap fix until I decide what do with these)

    Black burgers and 350z

Boot fix with plastic washers (yes I did this myself, no mechanic was needed!)

Zed valve caps (bought as a joke Xmas present by my Mrs but they are so cool)

    Zed key ring

Zed cuff links (worn to my wedding)

So that's it....I mean that's it, I'm not spending anymore, unless....I look at the breathing, maybe an up-rev....oh s**t when does it end!!

But first after the suspension is sorted and MPSS fitted (I really hope they are as good as everyone says they are for the money) another service with CS.......

Then just enjoy the car.....until I have the money for FI

  7. I like the 370 but couldn't afford one, but I could afford a 350, which is the next best thing.

I am totally happy with my 350, it's a great car but from a design point of view the 370, I think, is better, and that's where my vote has gone.

It's not a vote against the 350, just a logical vote for, in my opinion, the better designed car.....especially the Nismo....

  8. Just been quoted £655.00  Seems OK?

As soon as I have recovered from paying for my bike (mot, service, tyres, repair of fuel leak) :scare: I will book the car in for fitting of the MPSS.

For the sake of £150.00 more than Toyo's, seems to be a 'no brainer', as my ex-boss used to say :teeth:

  9. I have asked for a cost for MPSS, should get a quote tomorrow..... :teeth:

What sort of price should I be expecting 4 tyres, all fitting, etc??

  10. Ok, so I have to ask the question.......

I need to sort new rear tyres, I currently have Falkens fitted.

At the same time, I might replace the front tyres also as they are budgets (although they still have decent treads)

So my local garage have offered Toyo's, £510.00 fitted, balanced, etc.

So, first question, does anyone have Toyo's fitted and what do they think of them?

And secondly, what's everyone's general opinion of fitting Toyo's as opposed to Mpss?

The car is fitted with Rays alloys....

  11. I built the Akrapovic stand last year but this year he is using another company.

I'm being a bit cheeky here but I can't make it to the show but wouldn't mind seeing this year's Akrapovic stand, so if anyone can take a 'sneaky' photo for me it would be very much appreciated.

No specific reasons for wanting to see a photo of this year's stand, I'm just curious that's all :)

Thanks for your help & enjoy the show everyone!

  12. Just had a good look through this topic.

It looks like I need to declare the Scorpion exhaust that was fitted to the car when I bought it.

Since ownership I have added spacers, should these also be declared as a modification?

I've also just had the Rays re-sprayed Anthracite grey, surely this doesn't need to be declared, or does it?

Worth knowing before I ring my insurers :)

  13. What 370Ad says...

Yes, they might accept your offer but will still keep their house on the market & if another buyer makes an offer who have sold their house or have cash, they will more than likely accept this offer over yours.
