  1. Looks like the issue is back, went to start this morning just managed to turn over enough to start, just trying to work out how to test everything. Someone has suggested running/driving for a bit enough to get decent charge into the battery, then disconnect the battery overnight. Then go back the next morning and see how it starts. If it starts fine, this would mean a draw on the battery, if it struggles again then battery? Remember I had both the Alternator & Starter seems fine. Where is the amp in a 350z (UK Car GT Spec) Cheers Paul
  2. I have had this argument before with insurance companies, they say it has to be factory spec, but I got slammed with an extra £50 on my premium because I had put a different set of wheels on my MX5, ok they were white but they were a ltd edition wheel so they were actually factory spec. Just be careful should you want to change your Knob (gear that is) to something non factory spec!!
  3. Thanks for that guys the battery has lasted about 2 weeks, so I'm guessing that perm live isn't the issue. I couldn't turn the stereo on with the keys out either. The search goes on!!
  4. So if it was connected to permanent live this would mean I could turn on radio without the key being in the ignition??
  5. Have put the optimate on it for the night, will see how long it lasts. Would the power to the amp really drain the battery? Paul
  6. How much do you want for the wheels? Is there a full set, would you carrier? (to not so sunny Norwich) Paul

    Matts

Are 350 & 370 mats the same?? Paul
  8. I think I might have a battery issue, I bought a new battery almost 2 weeks ago, the input was tested prior and everything else was ok. I have been running the car daily with lights and heater most days. But this morning I went to start it and it seemed slower to crank over, it started ok though, it seemed that the battery almost doesn't have enough juice. Would this be normal for a new battery to be nearly flat inside 2 weeks. Just to also throw this in, I think that the stereo amp might be connected to a permanent Live, would this have an effect over this kind of timeline?? Not sure if its just that the car isn't being driven long enough, to go to work is about 5-6 miles each way city/surban traffic. What you think? Paul

    Meet up

Hi Guys I live in darkest Norfolk (Norwich) does anyone in my area fancy meeting up (in a pub?) in the new year. Just would be good to meet fellow owners and talk Z'ds Cheers Paul
  10. I suppose it depends on where its coming from, front or back? If its the back could be diff. Have you checked the oil in it? A cheap way of testing if it is the diff change the oil or put in a oil additive that might make it quieter then monitor how long it takes to come back, if it does.
  11. At least with a Bank Transfer you have a certain amount of traceability with cash you have none, as someone has said before what if its fake cash?? I can see there is no fully 100% safe way of doing it for both parties, its down preference. Paul
  12. Don't you have to fill out your driving licence details when filling out the V5? But as I said before I visited my bank to get it, these are not normal cheques anymore, but if in doubt contact the bank that issued it. If the person is trying a scam would he want you to do it? I have bought/sold a good few cars this way and never had a problem. Paul

Hi Guys, does all the 350z's have electric operated folding in mirrors? If so mine don't seem to work. No faults on the ecu. Any ideas? Paul
  15. Well when I done a Bankers Draft for the purchase of my 350z, I went to Barclays the first checked the money is in my account then once I filled out a request for it (pin id as well) they took the money straight out, she showed me the new balance. Then she advised me that the Bank guarantee the money to the person getting it and if they banked with Barclays it clears instantly, so I would say its as good as cash. Paul
  16. I used a Bankers Draft, its underwritten by the bank, who check you have the money first, take it out of your account straight away, wrote a cheque which you then use, its as good as cash but without the worry of carrying so much cash. I did have to pay £15? to do it though, worth it. Paul
  17. Im looking for a set of Rays, what you want for them. Would you post/carrier? Paul
  18. Right I think I know where this going to go, but having issues starting the Z. After being a little sliggish to start, just the once mind. Now I cant get her to even turn over. I have bought some heavy duty jump leads to get her to at least start and I will try this in the morning. But I put a battery conditioner on her (Optimate 4) but it hasn't made a jot of difference. I would have though she would turn over. Have lost my stero pre'sets as well. Im just alarmed how quick this has happened. Is this normal for this car? When I discconect the old battery, will this affect the alarm or anything else? Cheer Paul
  19. I bought the Sony, haven't had time to suss out the trick bits yet, but playing cds the sound is pretty good playing with the set up a bit, looking at connecting up my mp3 player soon to try that out. I have a standard Bose set up. Take my advice DON'T get Halfords to fit it, they ended up refusing to fit it, but I did get £50 off the cost of the head unit for mucking me about. They did have them half price £129 3 weeks ago Make sure you get the right patch lead and multi-stalk loom (if you want to keep your steering wheel controls) Good luck
  20. Thanks guys I might give it a try when a bit warmer, anyone have any idea's on the Sat-Nav?? Paul
  21. I have now owned my Z for a couple of months now and getting to know it. A few little things Bugs me. When I fill up the tank the fuel gauge doesn't seem to read right. When I fill to the brim it only reads 3/4's full is this common? Also I don't mind the factory fitted sat-nav, but is there a update for it, if you do update it can you get it to search for postcodes?? Cheers Paul
  22. I think Mazda wheels have a very bad rep for corrosion, I had my MX5 wheels powder coated shadow Chrome, came out really well and stil look good today, sold the car mind to get the 350z I will prob have the wheels done in that colour on my Blade Silver Z. Just ad a powerflow exhaust fitted/made really happy with it. Paul
  23. Thanks for the offer Buster, But I'm living in Norfolk (Norwich) so would be a bit far away.
  24. Thanks for that. But how easy is it to fit yourself. Looking at it Im not sure where to start. How does the part of the dash come off? How does the head unit come out, I remember using these prongs that went in the front and you pulled it out. (this was in 1987 with an Fiesta XR2) I bellive I have all the bits, but its just getting started. I have rang a couple of mobile Audio guys but waiting for their call backs. Any ideas? Paul
  25. I have bought a aftermarket head unit, (Sony) bought the correct kit from incartech. But now as I have a factory fitted sat-nav they are refusing to fit it saying that the sat-nav its connected to the original bose system. Is this true?? Im no sparkie, this is the reason why I was going to pay someone to do it.
