  1. You're all so lucky, I usually get the opposite! There are a lot of older people dotted round my area, who will happily watch people Mr Businessman in his 5 series sail past at 45 in a 30 zone, but scowl at me when I'm driving like an angel! I always put it down to stereotyping; they see (and probably hear first) a young person in a sports car and instantly assume I must be speeding. Used to bother me, now I just give them a smile and a wave Thankfully a few people have restored my faith in humanity, I heard one guy walking down the road with his girlfriend say my car was 'gorgeous'
  2. Yeah does seem strange as the rest is stainless. Thankfully from any 'normal' angle you can't see them - they're tucked away under the bumper. My heat shield above the rear box was rattling, so I'm grateful for the much smaller size of the box - makes reaching the bolts on the heat shield much easier!
  3. Just got a Cobra fitted and am now looking at HFCs so I'm eagerly awaiting this video too!
  4. Hey all, Got my new Cobra system fitted yesterday, courtesy of the Cougar Store group-buy, sounding absolutely amazing! Around 1k - 2k is where the ‘drone’ happens, only with your foot on the throttle too so it’s easy enough to avoid, but I can honestly say I don’t find it at all intrusive. You could still hold a conversation with a passenger next to you (though you may need to raise your voice slightly ). At 2k - 4k with gentle throttle it sounds near-stock, but once your foot goes down it howls like a b***h! That said, the noise inside the car isn’t much greater than stock, it’s just when you have the windows down (which you will do, a lot) that you’ll really notice the difference. She’s a real head turner now . Hopefully the weather will sort itself out for this weekend so I can take a few videos; there seems to be a bit of a lack of non-resonated systems on YouTube .
  5. Before: BMW E46 318ci - great little RWD training car! Just enough power to slide, not enough to be doing any sort of speed when it happened! Next: I’d like an E60 M5. I know BMWs (mainly BMW drivers) get a lot of stick, but that V10 roar... mmmm...
  6. Thanks guys I'll see who's available and when
  7. Anyone in/around Norwich have anywhere they could recommend for me to get my new Cobra exhaust installed? I usually go to Formula 1, but they won't touch it - something about their insurance not covering them for parts they haven't sourced :/ I'd consider attempting it myself, but I don't have a ramp or pit, plus I can guarantee I'd snap a bolt or something! Cheers
  8. I'm now a definite, can someone kindly add me to the list as I'm on my phone . TP34 please. CS, can you PM me what happens next? Thanks!
  9. Can I put myself on the list as “maybe Waiting to hear back from my insurance company, I'll give them a ring tomorrow if I don't hear anything . Non-resonated half system, TP34 tips. Anyone have any pics of the TP53 carbon fibre tips? Can't find any anywhere!
  10. I've been ignoring my exhaust rattling for a few months now, only ever did it when cold and wasn't too bad. I've got my MOT next month, so today used some fine wire mesh and exhaust repair 'gum' to patch up a small hole in the back-box. When I was working under the car, I noticed what looked like a loose piece of metal above the exhaust - I'm guessing it's some sort of heat shield? Anyway, whoever last worked on the car had left it in there loose! None of the 4 bolts were actually holding anything, so it was just sitting there on top of the back box! No wonder it was rattling
  11. Thanks for the tips guys! Naturally the lower end of the budget is the target, I’m gonna wait until post-MOT to buy anything just in case. I’ll have a look for some ideas and then come back with “will these fit?â€
  12. Hi guys, I’m looking at getting some new wheels for my Z soon, but I only recently bought a set of 4 Pilot Super Sports so I ideally want to keep them (I know I could swap/sell them, but I’d rather not have the hassle!). I have the ‘touring’ wheels, so tire sizes are 225/45-18 front and 245/45-18 rear. My other concern is the Brembos, they’re crazy close to the standard wheels on the front - so I’m guessing I’m pretty limited in terms of offsets as well. What are my options? Stock suspension currently, though that’s next on my list pending MOT outcome. I like the look of the Rota Grids in gunmetal or flat black, car is silver, though I’d appreciate any suggestions . Budget of £1k - £2k. Thanks all!
  13. £650/year, 20, 3 years NCB with Admiral
  14. Pfft! Where are you based, Isle of Man? hehe, I'm 22 4YNC and its £900 No actually I'm in Norwich! It was £750 but as we (my whole family) have been with Admiral for 4 years now, they gave us a loyalty discount. I didn't even know such thing existed!
  15. Just recently had mine in from Admiral as well, check this out: - 20 years old - 3 years NCB - £750 excess Premium for this year: £650! Chuffed.
  16. Today I did one thing, and learned an important lesson. I took the hamburger off the back of my car... ... and put it straight back on when I saw the two holes it leaves behind. Today's lesson: always research before doing, no matter how simple!
  17. For anyone curious, the quote came back at 7,799€. Which in GBP is a f*****g lot! I'm going to put buying any new wheels off until the spring, I'd be putting the standard ones back on ready for winter soon anyway! Thanks for all the advice guys
  18. That much? Daaayum, I wasn't expecting them to be cheap but that might be out of reach! Will see what they say when they get back to me, but looks like it's back to the drawing board for now
  19. Ahh tough choices. Looks okay in this colour, pretty similar looking silver: http://www.hrewheels.com/gallery/lexus-is-with-hre-560c-in-gloss-charcoal. Thoughts? Emailing them now, will check if/how much extra it costs for a colour w/ polished lip.
  20. Ah the Super Sports were what I meant! Of course, I'll absolutely be posting pics if I get them! Will email them tonight for a quote. Do you all think silver would be the best option?
  21. Thanks for the advice so far . Any more comments on colour? I've been trying (and failing) to find pictures of similar wheels on a silver car, gloss/matte black with silver lip. Is it safer to get silver then get them sprayed later if I want? Also, I'll need 4 new corners of rubber (I nearly do at the moment anyway). What tyres should I get? I know most on here recommend the same set of tyres (the name escapes me), would they fit? I'm happy to pay the extra for extra grip Thanks all
  22. Hi all, First off, I have no knowlegde of wheels/offsets/tyres etc so please be kind . I'm looking getting some new wheels, the HRE 590RS look amazing IMO . Anyone know if I'm likely to need spacers or anything? Also, what colour do you think would look best on my silver Zed (below)? I'm looking towards matte/gloss black, can't find any pictures of them on a silver zed though . Apparently they're "custom made" on request, so I'm guessing I'll have to order direct (or at least it'll probably be cheapest direct) if they still make them. Advice & comments appreciated . My car (flag pole is gone): The wheels:
  23. Hi all, Probably a quick few questions for most of you, but I know next to nothing about suspension! I want what most want: to lower my car (daily driver), probably around 30mm, without compromising the handling of course. So, my questions: - Lowering springs = fixed height. Coilovers = adjustable height/harshness. Correct? - Assuming above is correct, do you need wheel alignment or anything done when adjusting ride height? - Any recommended brands? I see H&R and BC mentioned a lot on here. - My Zed's done around 45,000 miles, presumably on the original suspension, will something else give way if I throw new parts on it? Any and all advice greatly appreciated Thanks
  24. Thanks for the advice all, I'm saving for a Nismo cat-back to attach it to, thought I could get the cats done first
