  1. Do you guys think it will be ok to use for a couple of days until I get a day off to take it to the garage?

I will just use it for work and back, about 10 mile a day.

When I get paid I might buy a crap run about car with plenty of tax and mot and keep the Z for weekend use to avoid complications.

On a brighter note, heres a recent picture after a quick clean.

  2. If you're Newcastle way, I'd go see the boys at falcon performance.

Thats exactly what Im planning on doing mate. It's going to have to be next weekend now tho.

I am going to let the guys I bought it from have a look first then take it to Falcon afterwards.

I've just drove it today and everything is working perfectly, apart from the engine light being on. Just a bit of a ball ache because I left myself a bit short of cash this month, I didn't expect to have to go down this route so early.

  3. Yea, I think I overreacted a little bit yesterday. I did expect the garage to at least check the car over before selling it tho. I'm based near newcastle upon tyne, if anyone is local and wants to check it out I'd be super grateful. I have since found reviews for the garage and all of them are terrible, seen a few comments about them doing dodgy MOT's and quick fix ups to shift cars. It's not like I bought it from a small dealership either, the place is a massive trade site. Oh well, thats another life lesson learnt.

I will give them a chance to get it sorted tho, I'm hopeful that its nothing serious.

The car is sat there on my drive dying to be driven!!

  4. Thats shocking man! Do they honestly think that we are not going to come straight back to the garage as soon the light comes back on anyway? Unreal.

I'm desperate to get my car in with a specialist to check it out, there's nowhere open tommorow tho and I'm back at work monday.

A few people have told me to get my money back but I think thats a bit extreme....

It's got full service history and 2 owners, the last one was a Lady... It's only done 57k surely it should be ok?

  5. Yea dude, hopefully it's just something daft, like I said the car feels fine to drive now but the engine light is still on.

It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence when collecting a car and not even managing to get it home before problems start tho!

On another note its amazing how many dodgy looks I get off people when driving this, oh and every single guy in a hot hatch seems to feel the need to want to race me which I find pretty annoying too.

Didn't expect this car to get as much attention as it does. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing just yet haha.

  6. Quick update guys, I tried to take it to my local garage first for them to check out but they close early on saturdays.

I took it back to the dealership and the guy was a bit of a ****. Seemed pretty uninterested and said something like "wow I can't believe that's happened, I even drove that car myself before putting it on the forecourt"

I get the impression they took the car in part exchange, took it for a quick spin then put it straight back on the forecourt without checking a damn thing.

Anyway, he said bring the car back along first thing monday morning and they will check it out for me. I had to drive the car for work today and have done about 40 miles with the engine management light on, it hasn't missed a beat since the incident this morning.

I'm hopeful that this is a simple fix but I've gotta be honest it's got me having second thoughts about this car, I've got a horrid feeling it's going to turn into a money pit and i'm going to end up regretting buying it.

It's put a pretty big downer on a day that should have been awesome.

I plan on letting these guys sort it out then I'll take it to a specialist garage local to me and get the guys to give it a proper once over. If they find anything serious I will be requesting my money back.

I could really do without all this hassle at the minute...... On a brighter note.... at least she looks nice anyway

  7. Ok after a quick read through some other threads it sounds like its the crank shaft sensor.

I have the EXACT same symptoms as the guys in those threads.

Im gonna limp back to the garage in it now.

I can't help but think they knew about this and re-set the ecu before I test drove it.

    Must remain calm!

  8. I took it straight to my local garage but they were shut!

Im so gutted, I've saved for ages for this car and I've just paid out 600 quid for insurance, I've left myself with very little to live on this month and then this happens. I Need a car for work too.

    Complete nightmare situation.

I'm going to call the garage now.

  9. Picked up my 04 350z today and the thing litteraly broke down on the drive home from the garage.

Car pulls fine, at first everything felt as it should, tho it is quite mechanical, it has a lot of feel through the pedals and has a slight vibration through the gear stick but I presume this is normal?

So there I was, driving my car home, really happy with my purchase then bam... the car cut out whilst sat in traffic, all the lights flashes on the dash so I turned off the ignition and started her up again, the engine management light is now on and I drove home slowly in it.

It only has a months warranty on it, I'm going to ring the garage but I wanted to see if you guys had any idea what it might be first??

Is this the start of a nightmare of a car, or a simple fix?

I'm considering asking for my money back.

  10. My bad, somehow managed to miss the parkers link when I searched, all I found originally was the American stats hence me posting on here.

Delete this thread if you can mods!

  11. Can anyone link me to something that shows the UK car stats, 0 to 60 and 100 times, weight, BHP etc.

Everything I bring up seems to be for the american version.

I'm just counting down the days now till I pick up my first Z, pretty excited!

  12. I work for an insurance broker and our underwriters couldn't give a monkeys about home insurance etc....

It's more to do with wanting to know if you have been untruthful in the past on a policy or not kept up to date with instalments and had a policy canceled as a result.

    I admire your honesty tho.

  13. Thanks, The lad I just spoke to from Falcon says he is a member on here. He seemed like a decent bloke, quite chatty, he owns a Z too.

Does anyone know if the number plate on the Z is the standard size? Hope I've ordered the right one haha. Was a bit exited when doing it.

  14. Well done mate, well happy for you. Im sure it will be a great motor!

All about making it your own!! Countdown to zeditis!!

haha! It's already begun. I'm shopping for mods online now and I haven't even picked it up yet! I've already bought a polishing machine and loads of cleaning goodies and I'm getting it booked in with Falcon performance for a once over! Oh and I've ordered a new reg plate as the current one is looking taty.

I'll be looking to get a full exhaust system as soon as I can free up some cash, I also want some bride seats.

Looks wise I want to keep it as standard as possible. As I get older I'm starting to go off jap style modding (body kits, carbon bonnets etc). I'm going to go for a very clean OEM look, maybe get it lowered, furb the wheels in the original colour and leave it at that.

Or atleast thats the plan at the minute anyway! :D

  15. Quick update lads......

The first car is now mine!

Got it for 5,800 but the car is getting the paint and the rear panel sorted too. I could have probably haggled a little further but to be honest I think I've got it for a fair price and I didn't want to take the ****.

He gave me the keys before the sale and let me take it out on my own for a good run. I've seen loads of threads with people complaining about the speed of these cars, saying they feel heavy and slow..... What a load of crap. This thing feels FAR quicker than my ep3 type r. Nearly put it through the wall of the dealers car park when I first drove out.... was not expecting THAT much low end torque haha!

Clutch feels fine, no slipping in high gears or anything, he seemed unsure if it was on the first clutch or not. I'm going to keep putting a little money aside for a safety blanket incase it gives in, I'm sure my warranty won't be worth the paper its written on anyway.

All the millage checks out, HPI check clear, full years MOT and it's getting a service before I pick it up on saturday.

Seems good so far but I have really bad luck with cars so I expect something to break within a few month. As long as the engine is sound thats the main thing.

Can't wait to have this sat on my drive, sounds sad but I'm looking forward to spending the full weekend cleaning it and making it my own.

Has anyone heard of falcon performance? I've heard they are a 350z specialist and they are based not too far from me, I will be taking it up their for the guys to have a good look over it for me.

    In the mean time :yahoo:

  16. Just found some reviews of the garage that has this Z online and they are all bad. One even mentions the salesman I am dealing with by name.

    Massively off putting.

I'm in a massive hurry to get a car tho so I don't have much choice.

This one is the next closest too me and it''s 100 mile away. Not keen on the plastidip or the wheel colour but it looks clean and it a little newer. I could always get the train down and buy it on the spot if I liked it.

I only have one day off, so need to work out which car I'm going to go for :headhurt:

  17. I was planning on changing the seats... gotta be honest its not going to be a priority now after seeing them, i thought they looked fine, comfortable too. Not bothered about cruise control either... The head unit is crap but Im not going to let that put me off buying.

If it's still on the original clutch how long can I expect to get out of it, providing the car hasn't been ragged about like mad?

I don't fancy a huge bill one month into ownership.

Just noticed the rear lights don't match, is this normal? It was missing the cover on the little light on the side of the car near the front arch too.

All in all it needs a little work but I quite like the idea of doing it up anyway. Cars got shed loads of character.

  18. Cheers. I'm going to see if they will get the paint sorted for me. I don't mind paying for the wheels myself to be honest, when comparing similar age and mileage cars I think the price already reflects the work that needs done to an extent.

Gotta say tho, Im glad I went to test one of these. That V6 sounds amazing and makes the s2000 feel a bit weedy in comparison!

It's fair to say I'm pretty exited right now.
