  1. How do these compare to the factory LSD? I understand facory is 25% lock, right?
  2. Can anyone recommend a decent FM modulator at a reasonable price, that allows playing of MP3 either from a memory card or over bluetooth? Preferably also Bluetooth phone interface for calls. I know FM is crap and don't worry I have a proper Aux input on my Z, but my mate recently bought a cheapy Mk1 MX-5 for some fun, and wants a cheap solution to get MP3 music into the car. He doesn't want to spend money on upgraded HU etc, as it's just a hooning car. Thanks!
  3. I'm led to believe the App Radio only works with older iPhones (i.e. not with the 5 or 5S with lightning connector). Has anyone heard whether there's a new version that resolves this? The iPhone 5 has been out for going on two years now.
  4. Oh and one more thing (how did I forget this!): No beeps that cannot be disabled! Yes Pioneer I'm looking at you! If I ever reach a point in my life where I need a beep to inform me that I've reached out with my finger and pressed a button, I'll have far more worrying things to deal with
  5. PS Here is a link to the Becker single DIN to which I refer: http://www.mybecker.com/enUK/hauptnavigation/automotive-archiv/grand-prix-7990/ueberblick/ Nothing flashes, no bling, everything illuminated the same (amber) colour, etc. It just works, and works well, without being a hideous distraction at night!
  6. Hi all Is there such a thing as a quality OEM looking double-DIN head unit? Touch screen would be nice but not necessary, and preferably one with a volume dial. I'm a fan of the OEM look, but the extra features of aftermarket systems are nice (iPod/phone integration etc). When I had my previous car with a single DIN unit, I had a great Becker unit that looked very OEM, but had great sound quality, build quality and a very competent iPod control. Unfortunately, Becker have left the aftermarket scene, and don't do anything equivalent in double DIN. Key requirements: No flashy lights (especially not blue lights!) Quality tactile feel (no plasticky junk that feels like it will fall apart) Preferably built in iPod, iPhone or similar control Sound quality I've looked around but can't see anything that fits the bill - most falling down on the flashy lights and/or displays point! Any ideas? Cheers
  7. Hi mate I'll take the belts if they're still available. Drop me a pm - I'm using the iPhone app and I don't know how to pm you from this thread! Thanks.
  8. How much do these go for? I don't know if mine needs replaced, but if the exhaust system is anything to go by I suspect the W brace was also manufactured by Cadbury's on behalf of Nissan.

    HR Y-pipe on DE

Thanks mate. Can you remember if your car had these plastic things at each side of the Y pipe? My only concern is that these might be in the way of the wider HR pipe, although I suspect they can be removed if required.

    HR Y-pipe on DE

No-one tried this on a UK car? Seems like around half the HR 350zs shipped to the US have been fitted with an HR Y-pipe!

    HR Y-pipe on DE

Hi guys I've read lots of threads around the web including here stating that the HR Y-pipe can be bolted straight onto the DE models of 350z, with the possible exception of the RevUp version. However, a member on here is selling an HR pipe but states that it wouldn't fit his DE model. What is the definitive answer here? I'm thinking of buying the HR pipe to fit to my 2005 DE model - is there any reason it wouldn't fit? I know some owners said they had to remove some plastic aerodynamic aids, and I've no problem doing that if required. On a related note, are the flexis on the HR any better than those fitted to the DE, or are they similarly doomed to fail in no time? Thanks!
  12. Great thanks mate. Might give this option a shot if my mate is willing to do the welding. Here's one someone made earlier! http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/hybrid-motorsports/647537-350z-flex-pipe-fix.html
  13. Just had a look and found one of the threads where the £160 Y-pipe is discussed. Seems to be a decent fit and has the appearance of being well built at least. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/75068-anyone-used-this-y-pipe/
  14. Thanks for the input guys. I get what you're saying, and I appreciate being told to steer clear of the Japspeed stuff. When I mentioned that the Cobra part was double the price, I wasn't comparing to the US-listed Japspeed (in which case it's closer to three times the price) but to the UK-listed Y pipe that is sold on eBay for £160 delivered. This pipe has a lifetime warranty, excluding flexis which have a two-year warranty. Which I believe is on a par with most of the higher cost Y pipes on the market. I've since found the link to the £160 pipe I previously mentioned. I believe this has been discussed on the forum in the past, and has been recommended by a few members (albeit I've no idea how long it's been installed to test longevity): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350-Z-Y-PIPE-/261297809279?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cd690277f I might have a go at the replacement flexi option. I have several friends who can weld, and my original OEM Y pipe is probably still at my friend's place, as I left it in the scrap metal pile and he doesn't recycle metal parts that often (he has his own workshop so tends to do this kind of thing in bulk). I quite like the idea of an OEM+ option - based on the OEM exhaust, but replacing all the junk parts that Nissan failed to get right. I expect the next target will be the flange on the back box Does anyone know the size of flexi parts required to do the replacement? Assume the diameter is 2.5", and I can measure the ones on my old Y pipe, but my mate's place is about 15 miles away. Might go have a look tomorrow. Thanks
  15. If you can't afford new y pipe, cheaper option to buy new flexi bits! Cut old ones off and stick new ones on! It's not that I can't afford, it's that I don't see the point in spending twice the amount for what I expect is no tangible benefit I didn't realise you can buy flexis separately. Where do you get them and how are they fitted? That may be a better option - stick with OEM and replace the flexis every oil service Cheers
  16. I'm more of an OEM person - I want it to look and sound standard, which usually means sticking with standard. Pity when you buy a Nissan, OEM also means it will disintegrate before your eyes
  17. Thanks for the input. The Cobra looks good, but it's over twice the price. For something that can't be seen when it's fitted and I'm sceptical that any power gains will be noticed on the road, I'm just looking for something that will do the job of OEM but won't fall apart. Maybe the Japspeed isn't much better than OEM in that regard from what I've heard however! My alternative that I've considered is a UK-based company who sell Y-pipes on eBay from time to time for £150 with a lifetime guarantee on the pipework and 2 years on the flexis. I may end up going for that for peace of mind, rather than chancing it on a US part that won't be worth sending back if it falls apart.
  18. When I bought my 350z, I soon realised that my Y-pipe was blowing on flexis on both sides. Sourced an OEM replacement in supposedly good condition, which lasted a few months and is now similarly disintegrating. Lesson learned - buy junk, buy twice, and the Nissan OEM system sure appears to be the highest grade junk! So I'm looking for a reasonably priced replacement, that does the job of the OEM system and won't fall apart at the first hint of some moisture. I'm not interested in supposed performance increases or super-shiny parts that no-one other then the exhaust fitter will ever see Came across this on fleabay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380734779678?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Looks reasonable, but does anyone have any knowledge of this system, particularly around the flexi pipes? I guess the downside of buying from the US is the cost and hassle if it does decide to fall apart, but surely it has to be better than the OEM junk? Thanks!
  19. Let me know if you're willing to ship. I just posted a wanted ad for one yesterday, got one other forum member who has one for sale but waiting for photos to see condition. Mine is blowing at both the flexi joints. Cheers Paul
  20. Hi guys My Y-pipe seems to be leaking slightly at the flanges, so rather than try to repair I thought it may be easier to pick up a replacement in good condition. I'm guessing there will be quite a few of them around, from when people have upgraded to better quality aftermarket parts. I did consider the aftermarket route, but I much prefer to keep the car as close to standard as possible, even though the OEM parts are sometimes of dubious build quality! Let me know what you have, I'm looking for something with no damage or corrosion (other than the usual light surface rust that they seem to be delivered with out of the factory...) I'm in Edinburgh so ideally within collection distance, otherwise it will need to be couriered. Cheers Paul
  21. How does this stuff compare to Scuffmaster, who also do a repair kit for the Altezan interior? Anyone tried both?
  22. Sorted mate, thanks Easy when you know how! It was a combination of pressing the button and pulling the spring-loaded part at the front forward, that allows the plastic cover at the back to fold down. Now paired and working. Cheers
  23. I've just bought a Bluetooth module from a fellow forum member. My car has the cradle for the module, but I can't figure out how to physically install it. There seems to be some kind of plastic cover over the part where the electrical connection should be made, but it doesn't want to come off. Can someone please state the procedure for this before I break it? I've searched the forums and found lots of questions around the Bluetooth module and cradle, but nothing explaining how to actually fit it. I hope that doesn't mean I'm the only person who couldn't work it out! There's a post in the guides section that seems like it should have installation instructions, but there's no attachment. I'm guessing the attachment has been removed at some point, so it may be an idea for someone to add a new post there if they have a copy of the document. Thanks!
