Thanks for the link 4re but I've been advised that she's entitled (but stupid) to ride where she did and that my action, despite not hitting her with the cab door, led to her crash, therefore I'm at fault.
Common sense has no place in law at times.

Cheers Will, Wembley & fleet both easy enough to get to. 'Near' perfect is worrying though. Reservations?
BBK, don't, you sound like her! When I pointed out that I felt it unfair to be out of pocket for her lack of roadsense (I'm a cyclist & a biker, I'd be long dead without this essential skill), she called me a typical selfish man.
Let's not generalise.

Definitely thought about it, it feels archaic to have to flip a lever.

The Silver ones attract flies, massive flies.
Every time I approach it to drive it, home, work, a mates 100 miles away, the front of the bonnet has at least half a dozen enormous flies on it.
Very odd.

So, arrived home today in a Black cab, paid the driver & went to get out the nearside door. As I open the door, a lady attempts to cycle up the gap between me & the parked cars. I react, pull the door back in, she plows into my parked car and falls off. After I established that she was fine, she goes to ride off, I ask about the damage to the car, she shrugs and goes to move off until I stand in front of her and point out that it's my car.
At this point I hear all about how her life's falling apart and she can't afford to pay anything. We swapped numbers.
Upshot - apparently I'm unlikely to get a penny, so, any advice on the cost of repair to my lovely (new to me) 2008 roadster?
Bit of a scuff to the bumper/front panel, a decent dent on the wheel arch and a weird convex knife-edge line further up on the same panel.
West London, happy to travel and probably after a P3 at the same time as I don't think it's ever had one (14,000 miles).
Dependant on funds obviously.
I'd really appreciate any advice!
Thanks,
Bagz

Surely the bet option is to just leave it insured, no? It annoyed me no end that years of bike NCB counted for nothing.Id also advise to check all the small print. Ive just had a 45 minute argument with one of my insurance companies on the phone. Basically one of my motorbikes cost me £70 to insure back in April for a full 12 months policy. I now wish to cancel this and they charge a £50 cancellation fee and also claw back any "cash back" offers they initially gave me which the sales person didnt tell me about at the time. So, now its going to end up having cost me £120 for just 4.5 months insurance. What really kicks me in the privates is that ive been with this same company for 5 years and when it came to renew this year I could have got the same 12 months cover for £59 elsewhere but decided to stay with them as a sense of loyalty. -
I had a similar problem when I bought mine, direct line surprised me & halved my best quote.

Yesterday evening, heading the opposite direction to me in mine.

Ah, a no go then but thanks for the info.

Has anyone retro-fitted one of these to a roadster with the Bose system?
-
So how did this go, any progress?

Hmmm, my wife took ours to Tesco at the weekend & we weren't so lucky. Both doors dented.
That's the last time it goes shopping.
-
Hmmm, since I got it mine's averaging 17.7! It might be to do with the way I'm driving it (like an arse, everywhere), I can't help it, it's only been 2 weeks and it's so much fun!

Near Twickenham, new car so I've been finding any excuse to get out for a drive at lunchtime, including picking a mate up from the station in Twickenham to drive him to Chertsey.
Bloody hell, I just noticed your signature, it's not just an exhaust making it sound so good then!!
-
Dropping a mate off at lunchtime & followed a SIlver Coupe along the dual carriageway for a short time.
Great sound but not excessively noisy. Curious about the exhaust....
-
Consumption is proving interesting, I reset it when I picked it up and it's currently showing 17.1mpg despite 50% motorway!
Hopefully I'll get used to the exhaust note at some point and stop driving it like I stole it!

I thought the garage didn't want to know?
-
Just curious, why wouldn't you re-use the original shims?
I've always done this on my bikes without issue.

There are plenty of cars to chose from so I'd be inclined to reject that car if you're not sure.
Insurance has a cooling off period too so you shouldn't be too out of pocket if you act quickly.

They look too much like fruit baskets!
-
Call the police, as far as you know, your car was stolen by these people.

Inside the glove box on my 2008 roadster there's a button to switch off the boot latch. Meaning that when using the valet key you can safely store stuff in the boot as well as the glove box.
Dead useful I'm sure!

Chuffed to find this thread, first update for the car will be the SatNav then.
Arggghhh, bloody useless cyclist.

It is fairly comical, if I forget about the cost!
Cheers for the recommendations guys, I'm down in Godalming regularly so will give TGM a shout.
