  1. Got a drivers side front side light. Any clues on changing it? Nothing in handbook. Looks a mare to me!
  2. In my ultra oil level paranoia I've over filled the car by 10-12mm. Is this going to cause the car major grief? Oil pressure gauge maxes out on start. Once hot idles at a tad over by 30psi. But when accelerating hard to over 3000rpm maxes out again. Thinking I should probably get some drained! Thoughts?
  3. Thanks to zmanalex and Mark and Scott at Abbey Motorsport for getting the car back on the road. Picked her up on Tuesday after getting off the plane from Miami. Last time I saw the car was 1am 6 weeks ago in a puddle of engine oil so was great to see her all shiny. New engine definately sounds smoother so maybe something was a foot with the old one when I bought it. Moral of the story, HR engines are not indestructible! Get to know your car... check its oil regularly. If it runs to minimum you've already damaged it, to the point of oil light coming on definately too late. Being run low on oil before my time most likely cause of my woes. Run low on oil and you risk looking at a con-rod through your block and £££££ bill.
  4. Bought a pair of these off a mate for £40 the pair never having heard of them
  5. 4k +/- a few hundred quid
  6. Oh yes, no help from Nissan. Not that I didn't try. Nissan's good will policy ends after 5 years. Might have more joy before that but after forget it as far as Nissan are concerned.
  7. Zed well on the way to being repaired. Engine from Zmanalex, being fitted by Mark and the guys at Abbey Motorsport in the next couple of weeks. I'm off on holiday so will be a nice surprise when I get back
  8. Opinions please? Which would you go for. This is not a daily driver, just weekend fun car
  9. Welcome along just make sure you go over any with a fine tooth comb! Enjoy
  10. As mentioned earlier, make sure Nissan knows you are serious about establishing why the failure happened, not just a strongly worded letter or phone calls. Personally i would have parts tested by a metalurgist and gain reports from an independent specialist and also see if you can find other people who have had similar problems, a voice in numbers will always help and seems a few other members have mentioned issues earlier in the thread. Also worth mentioning forums. On a minor level i had a few problems years ago with Yamaha, it wasnt until i threatened testing of the failing part did they actually play ball. Good luck and dont give up there imho. See what happens when the old one comes out
  11. its no can do from Nissan
  12. PM sent; should no final outcome from Nissan by 6pm on Monday
  13. That would great thanks. Send a message if you would rather not go public. I'll PM if any luck ! No worries, thanks

  15. Was no vibration or anything. Nissan will not do anything as there goodwill policy only covers vehicles up to 5 years old, mine 5 and a half. I will have some pictures of the damage shortly. Plan is to escalate up to managing director level on the basis an engine that blows at 41k is not fit for purpose. If I get no where I'll go to Watchdog; family member works in production and email from BBC might kick them into action. However I'm not holding out much hope. Last resort.
  16. Nissan have come back to say after 'careful' consideration there are not able to assist. Wonderful. Haven't got a reason yet as left an answer phone message as I was out. Will try to remain calm when I ring them tomorrow...
  17. Nope not called Shane and wasn't showing any signs of excessive engine noise. Not me! I have put a few enquiries out though for second hand engines if Nissan won't help. Through zmanalex and CS in Leicester. Just to be clear, Nissan are under no obligation to help as the car is out of warranty? Even if it can be shown to be a defect from manufacture.
  18. How old was your Corolla? Did they admit to mechanical failure or did you get inspected yourself elsewhere? My Corolla was on a 55 plate and it was last year it blew at 28k. I had to really fight my corner and it was hard but initially on inspection they tried saying it was caused by a lack of lubrication. But after showing an ex rally driver who's held in high regard by Toyota he said it was a load of crap and it was blatantly mechanical so a few phone calls from him really got it sorted. It's all about what you can prove and hopefully you have all your servicing and receipts etc because they will try and put the blame on you. I have everything for the car from new. All service records and receipts from Nissan dealerships.
  19. Thanks for words of support!

  21. I don't know where the holes are yet. But there are two... Was assured it had never been on a track but people can say anything. Watch this space as to what Nissan say; trying to stay positive!
  22. I've had the car 3 months and done 1500 miles.... Serviced last October at 38k
  23. Two holes in the block, don't know where exactly. Metal that should be inside the engine on the under tray when they took it off. I haven't actually seen the car since 1am on Sunday morning.
