  1. Update...

I took a colleague to work in the car on Thursday, a 75 mile-ish journey to Tonbridge Wells. It all feels fairly tight up to 70mph, then it feels like every few moments the car is driving on a cobbled road, it's feint but you can tell something's there. We both initially thought it was only a problem when the car's running at full-chat, but even with my foot off the throttle it was still there, I'm guessing this rules out a gearbox/clutch issue (it has a new clutch anyway).

If you're thinking to yourself, "just get the b***dy wheels balanced", I'm waiting for a free day in the next couple of weeks I can take it up to Kaiser Motor

Is it like a slight wobble/ vibration that comes and goes at a certain speed? If so I had the same after some repair work and a new wheel at the rear which had been balanced etc. I was worried something else had been damaged but it turned out that the new wheel was out by about 20 grammes. Once it was re-balanced it was fine :)

  2. All of that could be covered by a law I would introduce if I ever had the chance.

Section 69 of the heff act: don't be a c*nt. This would be left up to the individual police officer to judge. Initial punishmen is a slap. If you continue to be a c*nt then on the spot shooting.

I like it, however how do we vet potential police officers to ensure they aren`t C*nts? do we need a C*nt advisory panel? and aren`t we all a C*nt at times? im actually not sure if im being a c*nt right now...I will get me gun :p

  3. Just an update, it's the window bonding, the glass hasn't been primed properly at some point so was loose, unfortunately this has caused some rust at the top of the window frame, so my car is sat outside the house with no windscreen :( all the rust has been removed and treated though and ready for some primer! Window guy is back tomorrow morning to refit! :)

  4. There is a procedure in the service manual for checking the compression arm, but I would think you need a lift and a good pry bar. When I bought mine I took a chance as I knew it had the clunking noise.. Luckly for me it was the drop links.

I have read that the compression arm noise is more of a loud 'thunk' than the drop links but people like Alex or Keyser would be able to confirm that.

    EDIT:

also to check if its the drop links, remove one end from the roll bar and tie the links up with zip ties.. then go for a short slow drive over some bumps..if the noise has gone you have your answer :)

  5. Zmanalex sells a repair kit for it and it looks a really easy fix, drive shaft out and replace cv joint iirc.

Make sure it's got good tyres on, and also depending on mileage try and get one That has had the clutch replaced. These are the two expensive jobs that might catch you out ( tyres I know from experience!!)
