  1. I think I may have found the culprit.. Firstly the spring cup arm does look slightly more bent thatn the other side (it seems they have a slight bend towards the inner fixing point by design) but this might be my eyes and wishful thinking, however I know you all like pics and the pic below might be the cause.

This is the Hub Carrier side of the same arm with what seems to be a knackered bushing and maybe even a bent bolt? Im going to replace the spring cup and radius arm next and if this fails the Hub Carrier.

  2. I wasn't sure it could bend! However It can only be this part, the hub carrier, the radius arm or the subframe that is causing my issue. Camber arm has been replaced and that was the only damage visible to the eye .

I`m hoping taking measurements between the two mounting points as seen in the pics will show a difference between the two sides. Something is bent..Its just finding out what, as cheaply as possible!!

If that doesn't show anything then I think I'm going to change the Radius arm and the rear lower link (spring cup) as part of a "ruling things" out process.

What arms did you install? the link is dead on your thread :S

  3. OK, im going to get the car on the stands tomorrow and try measuring all the suspension arms to see if one is slightly out. Im just hoping this isnt the damn sub-frame :( It wasnt a hard hit, and so far have seen much worse on the internet!

    SeaBea,

This is the part he means, which im suprised bent as I thought it was cast alloy. However its the most obvious arm on the whole assembly to be causing my issue as it directly controls toe angle

  4. Hi all,

Firstly the accident was totally my fault, I was being a d*ck..lesson learnt!

Long story short I ended up sliding into a curb with my rear wheel (im sure you can guess how) which ended up bending the front lower link (camber arm).

This has been replaced today and also a new rim put on (thanks ZMANALEX) the mechanic that did the work said that everything else looked ok, and I had a good look underneath also and couldnt see any other obvious damage.

When the car was back on the ground, the wheel now had much more toe out that the other side and after trying to align, although we got closer, its obvious that something else is bent.

I`m just wondering if you guys have any ideas what to look at next? Im thinking maybe the radius arm, however it seems that if this was bent there would be more toe in rather than toe out?

    any ideas guys?

  5. Hi All,

Does anyone know of a reputable garage to get my alignment done at in the north west, preferably in the Preston Area? I was booked in to a local garage but have since found out they dont do proper alignment, just tracking :(

    Many Thanks

  6. Dont worry guys, bucket and sponge was just a figure of speech!! she will be getting the following treatment if the weather holds out

    Wash

    Clay Bar

    Wash

    Prima Amigo Glaze

    DODO Juice Orange crush Wax

    DODO acrylic spritz sealant

She has done 45k and has a full service history. The exhaust is stock infact i think the whole car is.

Also, I have already ordered the Motor for the window from Alex. I think the first response to my initial post said to PM him!

  7. Well, after getting some great advice from here, I decided to go against the grain and take a punt on a car with a few minor issues. Picked her up last night and I am already in love with my red head. I cant wait for the weekend so I can get the bucket and sponge out and we can get intimate!

Hi to everyone, and thanks to everyone that replied to my thread in the general forum.

  8. Guys,

just to let you know..i picked her up this evening. The CEL has been cleared and has not returned yet, and a window motor has been ordered from Alex. she drives great, and I have just come in from a nice 2 hour aimless cruise!

I will give her a good clean at the weekend and then get some pics up, but I am officially in the 'club' :)

  9. ok so I have got him to his lowest, which is only £300 quid above what he is getting for it p/x

Assuming its just an o2 sensor I can sort that out and the window myself.. And as for the paintwork needing a polish, well polishing a car and watching it start to gleam is part of the fun of owning a Z :) apart from that the low mileage and the very straight body (not a dint or major chip in sight) and the fact that its the colour and spec I want makes me think I have just bought one ;)

  10. well to be fair to the seller, he already has a figure for trading on the vehicle from a dealer ( I do know the amount he was offered as p/x and my offer is slightly above this)

He was also waiting to get hold of a windoe motor, and I was aware of this before going to look at it. obviously the CEL being lit does worry me slightly though.

Im suprised you mention 5k as a figure Will as that seems quite low for a UK GT car? maybe my budget is to high!! :)

thanks for all the replies guys

  11. Hi Everyone,

I wonder if I could get some advice. I just went to look at a nice clean low mileage Z (04 Plate) which is nice and clean but with a few faults i wanted to check out.

Firstly the drivers window doesnt work, but i believe thats an known issue and easy fixed?

secondly, the CEL is lit. I asked about this and he said that he took it to a garage who read the code and said its becuase the car isnt getting used enough (its only being driven about 5 miles a day to and from work). He said last time this happened he took it out for a run and it extinguished. I just wanted to know if this was possible and if so what code would this normally produce (I forgot to get the code while I was there, but have asked them to do so for me)

Apart from this the car is in great condition and fully serviced, It did need a good polish though, poor girl!

Any advice on the CEL would be appreciated, and on if i should walk away even more so!

    Cheers
