Just part-exed the Zed after 15 years of ownership.
Thoroughly enjoyed the car for all that time - ownership was made especially enjoyable with a great forum like this.
Big thank you to all involved.
Signing off,

Lucky man - that is a stunning Zed

Had mine new since 2004 - still on orginal clutch (at 132k) but one exhaust replacemanet at 80k.
Current usage is low (< 8k a year ) and some funny nosies staring to appear from underneath somewhere; a bit of rust on the rear wheel arches - but still loving it as a daily commute.
Hoping to go to the Moon with this one - enjoy taking it out every weekend.

There was plenty of other rust on the car and my video shows it all in detail with my plan to tackle it. As well as cutting out the rusted brake lines I also swapped out the corroded member stays. I also upgraded the brakes and fitted EBC BSD grooved discs, steel braided hoses, EBC Bluestuff pads and EBC racing brake fluid. She stops on a dime now. Will be at Bedford Autodrome in a few days to give her a proper test!
Brilliant video - really informative. Thank you.
Where do I send the money to?

Great video - thanks.
really looking forward to the next one about rust - its a bit of a concern for me too

Brilliant video
As a fellow owner of a 14yr old Zed - colour me interested

130K here (owned from new ) and like you, a daily runner and planning to own it for a good few years yet.
Starting to succumb to rust a bit at the rear - but I just make sure it's serviced on schedule and check the oil every 1k miles.

I don't think its that - but thanks to your excellent link I've had a rummage around some diagrams and I think its part of this (76857N):
Anyone know what it does? And is it important?
TIA,

Driving home tonight I heard a noise from the rear which sounded like a branch or something similar caught on the underside.
Once I parked up I found this bit was hanging loose on the underside in front of the passenger side rear wheel arch.
The attached image shows the 'bit' in a top down view; it seems to consist of a sturdy platic strap which was attached at 90 degrees to the bodywork just in front of the rear wheel arch at the point highlighted by the red box. It was formerly attached to the underside somewhere by the two corroded metal lugs bolted into the strap.
Does anyone know what this is? And is it important?
TIA,

Agree with Jetpilot, I run a test station and the legal hoops we have to jump through are crazy. I've had the DVSA do a full MOT with one of my testers before, I've never seen someone panic so much. The best thing is, it was on my mum's mx5
Hi Jay84
Just interested by this post.
My 14 year old Zed just had its service/MOT done on the same day.
It passed its MOT in the morning - yet the during the service the techs said all the brake pads/disks needed replacing (its a long saga - I had all discs/pads replaced a year ago and the techs found a wobble during the current road test - which I knew about but assumed the brakes were still bedding in)
So my question is - should the MOT have picked that up?
Thanks for any advice
TT.

Nevertheless, 14 years without an MOT failure

From what was told when my W-Brace was examined and found to be rotting - its not an MOT fail as its not part of the suspension - it just supports it.

The gallery gaskets tends to affect early 370's and 350 HR's.
Define 'early' please - as I may or may not have to worry?

3. I'd guess there might be something you can poke, but I'm inclined to say you have to go through the boot and record it for our entertainment

I've just done the A483 between Newtown to Llandrindod Wells - a drive down the backbone of Wales.
Beautiful countryside and a very enjoyable drive

All I got from my MR2 Targa top days was wind/sun burn on the top of my (bald) head.
Came to the conclusion that drop tops weren't really worth it after that

Great looking Zed - congraulations
