  1. Cheers, I'll try the master cylinder next. Its not generally too much of a problem at the moment, as although I do drive reasonably spiritidely at times, I'm not in any way hard on the car, and nor will it likely ever end up on track - I'd get a lightweight car for that should I ever wish.
  2. Yes I got the clutch fluid as part of the kit. And a nice braided line. Its on 137000 miles.
  3. I was experiencing the problem where the clutch sticks on the way back up, presumably when it was hot. I got the slave cylinder from Zmanalex, and had that fitted. The clutch is definitely improved, but its still not 100% IMO. It still feels sticky if you drive it hard, and has stuck a couple of times. This happens even if you're not abusing the clutch but simply using the revs in a single gear, however, its worse if you constantly gear change. It does not seem as bad if you rev-match (which I always try and do anyway). And once, after a particularly hard drive, the bite point of the car actually changed the next time I drove (it was very near the bottom of the pedal) meaning I almost stalled straight away as I wasn't expecting it. After a few seconds it was OK again. So whats the crack here then? Master cylinder? Clutch?
  4. Good to know it can possibly be overcome. It doesn't seem a great design, but yeah I generally agree about the experience driving open top, it is great, and I love the sound of it when the roof is down. Actually at the moment my wobbly wing mirrors are more annoying! I'll have a go with some grease hopefully at the weekend. Most of the time I've had the roof down, its true, it has been warmer than it was today.
  5. Another problem I noticed recently is that my wing mirrors seem to be loose. They will click into place, but are not held in very firmly at all, so much so the wing mirrors will actually start pressing in towards the window at, ahem, high speed. I did a google search but I can't find anything that suggests a solution. There does appear to be screws underneath, but short of tightening these, I'm not sure what else I could do?

  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look into this at the weekend. I hope it is just that it needs greasing. I must admit, the convenience of an electric roof was very appealing when I got it, but part of me thought "another thing to go wrong". I appreciate the suggestions, thanks again!
  8. I've been reading many don't recommend using them much under about 10 degrees? Had I known that I may not have bothered. I live in geordieland and it seldom ever gets above 10 degrees
  9. So, it was a nice morning, and I decided to have some nice winter roof fown motoring. It wasn't particularly cold (I reckon about 7 or 8 degrees), and nice and sunny. So I try to put the soft top down, and it goes down most of the way, until, it just stops (sorry about the link it doesn't seem to like my embedded image) http://s959.photobucket.com/albums/ae77 ... 083041.jpg I read that they don't like to go down if its too cold but I really don't think it was. Also I'm a little unimpressed by this as when I had my MX5s I used to love winter top down motoring. I tried closing and opening to see if it would go down, about 10 or 15 times but nothing. It just stops where you see in the picture. It did do it once the other day but it worked the second time. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with the roof. Others have suggested using silicon spray to lubricate the moving parts. Can anyone give me a pointer as to what I need to spray? Kind of wished I'd bought a coupe now
  10. I've had the lights / wiper problem before, as I've driven a few JDM cars in my time (MR2T, DC2 ITR, Eunos), I've only just stopped getting mixed up on occasion! Personally I preferred the indicators on the right anyway, that is the correct place for them IMO!

I'm driving an unfamiliar car (I've had it less than 2 weeks, and so far, only ever driven in daylight), the sky went grey as I drove home due to a torrent of rain, and the dials were brightly illuminated, and street lights illuminate the road, you aren't necessarily going to notice headlights. I don't know why I'm bothering to respond really, there's always one smart arse on these types of forum who try and wind people up from the comfort of their chair. I guess you never, ever make any mistake ever then? Why is it so unreasonable to expect a car to behave in a similar fashion to the last 10 cars I've owned?
  14. try and remember Where are you located so that I know not to drive in your locality for the fear of an oncoming Zed with no lights on! Maybe change cars to a Renault Scenic as I know they have auto lights for you. I've spent 15 years driving cars where, if the lights were off, the dashboard would be in total darkness. People get used to things like that, funnily enough. The last two nights it has not been completely dark, but normally I would have had the lights on. No need to be an arse.
  15. On past cars I've used the fact that the dials are lit up to tell me whether my headlights are turned on. In the Z, the dials backlighting comes on as soon as you turn the ignition to the on position. Twice now, I've forgotten to turn my lights on because the dials are already lit up!
  16. I've got the worst of both worlds - I'm in a pre-facelift model, but its an 06 too so I get shafted.

Didn't miss much, it was my first attempt using MS Movie Maker and the vid camera on the SGS3 It was basically a little hoon around deserted country roads (of which oop north we have plenty), nowt to write home about, I just loved the engine note, and listening to it on my PC is cheaper than the 20 MPG to listen to it in reality! As for the "mixed tyres comment", obviously I'm missing out on an "in-joke".
  18. True, fronts are different to backs, well done! I've only just got the car though, under 2 weeks ago. Not had chance to replace tyres. Despite how it may have looked, generally the driving was probably 6 or 7/10ths. I'm no drift king, nor Colin McRae, but I'm sure most of us enjoy a brisk drive.

  23. Aye its on my list of things to do! Loving the car so far, its not even proving as bad as I thought on the go-juice. Showing 25 MPG at the moment. I was only getting 30 out of the 172 so its not much worse, though I did drive that like I stole it, because basically, it was only interesting when you drove it like that. The Zed feels special even dawdling around.
