  1. I used to get really annoyed about people sitting behind me and things like this in general now I just slow right down (no braking just off off the accelerator) to at which they get bored or fed up going slow and they move on and I can resume my journey at my own pace (and space).

  2. Just as a note I though my passenger mirror heating was broken but turned out the unit was replaced with a JDM version (without heated function) at some stage. I replaced with a heated unit. Worth checking, unless you have already had them working then forget this

  3. I was looking at the same two exhausts, in the end I went with Invidia but I don't have HFC. I don't think the Invidia is too loud and sitting at cruise speed it is the same as OEM, you only hear it when you put the foot down. At the time if I had picked the Miltek I would have wanted HFC to make the noise I wanted but I feel I didn't need it with the Invidia.

Hope this helps, but it is all personal preference so you're doing the right thing hearing them in person.

  4. Interesting that both cars mentioned that the Zed left wanting to in terms of driving enjoyment are front wheel drive hot hatches (focus, civic). Maybe this is your problem, the driving style of those two are worlds apart from a rwd drive car with good hp available. You wont be able to just chuck a zed around and hope to come out the other side pointing vaguely in the right direction like you can in a civic and fiesta.

I would hazard a guess that in both cases the zed is your first big capacity rwd car, if that guess is right you will need to adapt your driving style to suit to get the most out of it and when you do it will become a far more rewarding drive than any hot hatch and on the most part, considerably quicker in the right environment and by that I mean anything but a very tight A road.

However, rwd is not for everyone and you may prefer the front wheel drive experience but if the general performance of fwd is why you changed, have a drive of awd and try and evo or scoob!

To also echo the thoughts of others, you cant expect to own a performance car without the associated costs and I would also agree a zed is probably one of the cheapest to run.

The zed was is my first rwd car and coming from decent handling >250bhp fwd car I didn't start to properly enjoy the zed until I changed my driving style.

  5. It was the xpel film I got put on and cost 1200 for the full front end including the splitter. I think I waited about 10days after a respray before getting it put on. There is a forum discount also (5 or10%). unless your going to keep the car a few years it's not worth doing, I plan on keeping mine another while, that's why I got it done.

  6. Driving to work this morning a Muntjac deer decided to play chicken with my car, unfortunately we had a coming together. Luckily I always drive slowly through that area due to the amount off deer roadkill every week but hit it doing about 20mph by the time I had anchored up on the brakes. Deer got up and ran off but my Nismo front end didn't fair quite as well...not too bad with stress cracks on one side. It will give me an excuse to sort out the stone chips..does anyone know if having it clear wrapped after painting is worth doing? any idea of costs??

I've had it done with the guy's that have a trader logo on here, paintshield I think. I decided to do it because I got the front end resprayed and literally 6weeks later the grey primer was very obvious on a black car. 6 months ago I had the film applied after a respray and now not a mark on the paint and one on the film which I only noticed up-close the last time I washed it. I have more details somewhere if you need.

  7. On a car I had a few years ago a few weeks after stereo install the battery went flat. Thought nothing of it as that battery was in the car a few years. Replaced the battery and the same thing happened again. Turns out the stereo was connected to the permanent power instead of ignition, I changed power around and everything was fine, no more flat battery.

  8. It's to reduce fuel vapour emissions (along with carbon canisters). Most vehicles now run the tank at a negative pressure stop fuel vapour venting to atmosphere since the regulations were changed in 1998 (ish... I think).
