Appriciate the reply, thank you. I understand the dislike of the bog standard what's my car worth threads as I clutters the forum massively but as you said this was a little different. The engine issue occured 2.5years into owning it. Car has done under 12k in that time, serviced correctly and always run on v power etc etc. The price you saying is about what I thought really, this gives someone with the skills to sort the car some room to play with. Again, thanks for the reply. If one of the members of staff could clarify if the thread could be allowed that would be great. Upper pelenium was still luke warm to touch so gave cylinder 1 a retest with the throttle open and it went up to 75 thats it. just to check im doing it right, Warm engine up all plugs and coils out remove fuel pump relay open throttle butterfly, kept open with a clean towel Fit compression tester turn engine over 8 times see result

Ah..... throttle was NOT wide open! This may hopefully explains things a little bit. Will redo again this evening. Cheers guys

So did a compression test last night and this morning. Both reading were the same but not what i expected... 1-65 2-65 3-65 4-0 5-65 6-70 All results are psi and like i said did the test last night and this morning and came the same each time. Cylinder 4 didnt make any tick noise when turning it over, also the plug from 4 was far hotter than the others when i took it out. smoke wise this was what it was like on warm up this morning

Cheers for the reply, will have a read. I was going to give fuel injectors a go tomorrow depending on the weather, was just going to change 4 and 2 around and see if the misfire changes spots. No idea why i said booked in for the compression test, after them taking a while to book me in and then me seeing online how easy it is to do i bought one on monday night, so still being done friday. On a seperate note i see there are a fair few Zs being broken online, does that mean there is an ok market for non runners/ breakers

So had an hour on the car today before the storms set in.... all cylinders seem to be working fine apart from 4. I did the unplug coil pack test thing on it. Each one had a noticible difference in engine noise whereas 4 had no change pluged in or not. Re changed plug/ coil pack with 3 different ones, no change. Compression test booked in for friday

Oh jeez, cheers for the reply. Doubt its VVT or anything that simple as 300 is still the only code showing on the ecu still

Getting a compression test done later this week. Had a play again today. Not running any better but the EML is flashing when the car is on now, not permanantly on anymore. Whats does the change mean?

All plugs and coil packs changed and no difference made. Was having a good look with a headtorch and looks like the cam cover has a leak on the inside. Easy job on a Z? And no doubt expensive i would have thought? This wouldnt be causing my running issue though would it?

I always use vpower as i live 30secs from a shell, its what was used for the previous 9 years i do not know, apart from the first owner, he was from here attackZ or something along those lines so he would have used vpower for sure. Last service reciept said 5/30 fully synthetic for oil

No 112code anymore, thats exactly what it was when that code was up though. I cleaned up the flithy plug and inside the solonoid, which wasnt really dirty tbh and then after a ecu reset it went. Car is still jumpy at lower rpm but nothing like when the VVT code was coming up. Was gunna replace them but my limited knowledge says to me that the problem is elsewhere

Changed plugs and coils on passanger side and noticible difference. Still very bogged down in low rpm 1-2.5rpm. Will get drivers side changed tomorrow, slightly embarrassing if this is just plugs. will post video of running now, very ticky

Coolant is fine doesnt move, oil it is using quite alot of. No overheating at all. Plug was sooty and a bit white, will get a pic now and a video of the engine running

So, newish Z for me and its decided to give up on me i think. Was running fine and then approached a steep hill, accelerated to overtake and nothings been right since, revs only went to 5k so not excessive. Straight after that the car has been misfiring, sounded like a scooby and had no power low down. Got home, pulled the codes, 300, random/multi misfire and 112 the VVT solonoid. Took the VVT off, cleaned it and cleaned the plug, reset ecu, little drive still running as bad and eml light came back on. This time code 300 and 304. Looked in cylinder 4, plug looked prwtty bad considering its only been in 3k. Replaced that and coil pack just to be sure and its just as bad. Also cleaned thw MAF sensor and TB, that was filthy and oily but no improvement, still throwing code 300 and has no power and juders in low revs, engine sounds very ticky too. Whats my next thing to try then please gents
