  1. No your right , but the money I Have to spend is what I got for the zed ... I don't want to touch savings

     

    At the same time I want a car that isn't going to break down every day as I do a lot of miles for work , hence a 500 pound banger is out of the question lol

     

    By sensible a car that is cheap to run , insure etc so I save money on a monthly basis but doesn't look like your nan would drive it

  2. Unfortunately the work required was too extensive and costly and with the signs of things continuously going wrong it was time to sell !

     

    I am absolutely gutted, loved the car and wanted one ever since i was 17. After 2 years of ownership it came to an abrupt end , i was not ready to let go of her !! :(

     

    This has now given me a kick up the back side to save hard to move out by next year. This does however mean getting a 'sensible' run around so unfortunatly will not be returning to a zed for the foreseeable future.

     

    this means a number of goodies will be up for sale soon, will keep you all posted !

  3. Have you done a compression test? and I would advise a leak-down test as well it will help diagnose exactly what the problem is,

    I would not think a DE with 50K on the engine would be suffering from ring seal problems unless severely abused, its the rev-up version that's known for ring seal problems and not the DE.

    A few weeks back I was stuck in heavy traffic for a while and the fans packed up , coolant went everywhere needless to say engine got very hot and I was towed home , thinking this excessive heat may have fried the piston rings ??

  4. Current car is an 04 de engine gt model with 50,000 miles , mot and serviced last week and taxed this week

     

    Few dings and dents on the doors and rear tyres need changing

     

    Have had the car 3 years and looking to move out next year but will sorely miss the zed :(

     

    Running well I was thinking maybe £6500 bearing in mind tyres and dents ??

     

    Current state with piston rings what would people think it's worth ? We buy any car reckons 3800 but the declared issues are not tha defined online and I've heard when they come to view it they always peg it down lots

  5. Well it appears the piston rings on my car are worn , loss of oil , sometimes power , lots of tinted blue smoke out the back especially on start up ...

     

    My options appear bleak , the local garages won't touch it , nissan won't strip an enginee only replace with a new one ...

     

    What would others do ??

     

    Is it worth the money to sort or just sell it as it is and take a loss ??

     

    I was planning on selling within the year anyway , just has come at the wrong time!!
