  1. Hello All, I've been on here since last Feb and thought it was about time I put some pics up. A few little bits have changed since the pics were taken, namely clear front reflectors and I'm currently waiting on a Zunsport chrome grill, along with this the car has been detailed and machine polished but these are the best pics I have so far. Enjoying the forum and it's great meeting people from here like Ken, Rothers and Mitz.

  2. Just go 50/50 with them as most have said. To be honest their parents should not be involved and I would just ignore them as they have nothing to do with you. In the future don't let tennants make any irreversible changes themselves as they will usually try to do it on the cheap which means poor work. I lived in rented properties for 6 years (during and after uni) moving though 6 different homes and I was never allowed to redecorate like this due to me not wanting to pay a professional and the landlord not trusting a quality job would be done. Also from the sound of what you are saying it is likely the parents will moan about having to pay 50% but if they don't lie it then tell them to move out, there are lots of poeple struggling to find rented accomodation at the moment.

  3. There's just something about the nismo sound that I love, I know it's expensive hence why a second hand one would be ideal. Also as a design engineer myself, having a system that has been designed specifically for the car by people who have all the cars details (tolerances, design intents etc) just sits more comfortably with me. Admittedly you can get better systems for less money but then you get issues with drone and fitment.

  4. I say well done Dave and good job. As a 26 year old myself I can say a lot of people in my generation don't care about any authority figure as there is no punishment. There seems to be a divide between people like me who work hard and are a civilised member of the public and then literally about 50% who don't care about working or the authorities. For the second 50% getting arrested adds some entertainment to their life and they know for a fact that the likelyhood of anything happening is slim and even if they do get sent to prison for something then it just means they get to meet their friends and make more contacts and find out how to conduct more crime. I had an incident a few years ago when I completely flipped at someone who was being a sh**, I still see him around and he has said to me several times that it was the best thing that happened to him because it got hime to sort his life out. A lot of the time these days younger people know that others wont do anything and so they push and push and it's only when someone snaps that they learn the consequences of their actions.

By no means am I saying that we should take the law into our own hands (honestly I don't have a solution as the only people who could resolve it is the governement and lets face it that will never happen) but I do think that little sh**s need to be put in their place now and again, it's just unfortunate that if you were the one to do it you are likely to get in trouble and a normal memeber of the public has a lot to loose.

  5. Hi all, I know this has been covered a lot but I am looking to change my oil again. I put Fuchs Titan race pro s 5W-30 in 6 months (4000 miles) ago. I am looking to put fresh oil in again as it has turned quite black and I like a clean engine. What is the difference between Fuchs Titan race pro S and Silkolene pro S? Also if I go on Fuch's website it recommends the Fuchs titan GTI pro. Which should I go for?

  6. Unplugging the MAF for a cold start will give a poor idle, no surprise there.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you fitted a plenum spacer recently?

The engine had been warmed up for 30 mins before turning it off and unplugging the MAF, I have tried looking for vacuum leaks but can't find any and no plenum spacer installed.

  7. many thanks for your reply, the video was with the engine having been warmed up and yes the revs match what the needle is doing. If you could check what it is like on your car that would be greatly appreciated (it will light the CEL though so you will need to be able to clear fault codes afterwards). Do you know if there is anyway to check the idle control valve or where it is located?

  8. Hi guys, my car has a rough idle when the aircon is turned off. I know everyone says it is nothing to worry about but I find it annoying and it is getting more rough as time goes on. It is as if the engine kicks every now and again. So today I thought I would unplug the MAF to see if the engine runs smooth without it and that will then help me to diagnose the rough idle as a bad maf. So I unplugged it and fired up the engine, as expected the CEL light came on but I wasn't expecting the revs to jump around so much, I took a video of the rev needle so you can all see it below, you will see that every now and again the revs jump and drop, is this supposed to happen when you unplug the MAF?

P.S. In the video I don't touch the accelerator pedal at all. It normally idles at 650rpm with the MAF plugged in.

  9. Sounds like you still have air in the system , did you bleed 1 caliper @ a time?

Modern cars you need to bleed a front and rear caliper at the same time as the brake system is split diagonal and to get the full movement on the brake pedal you need to open a front and rear caliper bleed nipple at the same time.

Also when bleeding the brakes start with booth nipples open then once you getting no air from the outside nipple close this and carry on bleeding for a while then shut the inner nipple.

You do need to use a bleed bottle with clear bleed pipes so you can see air bubbles in the fluid.

?!?!?!?! does this mean there is no way you can bleed it on your own? My brake pedal works fine but is a little spongy and the brakes are weak. How much do you guys charge to bleed the system and how long does it take?

  10. Probably just the PCV valve making that noise. It is on the off side front of the engine on the rocker cover and has a hose coming out of it. I believe that they are meant to hiss as it's the air pressure from the crankcase being relieved and put back into the plenum.

Brilliant, many thanks. I had read that there was a hiss that was normal on the US forums but wasn't sure if this was it. Thanks for clarifying.
