  1. Did you do this yourself? If so what machine & products did you use? Also, how long did it take you to do the whole car? I did a 3 stage on the bonnet of my old merc (first time using a DA) and it took me 2 hours!

2 hours! Blimey! That's fast! I'd expect at least 4 more likely to be 6 hrs to machine mine will let you know after Bank Hol weekend.

That was just the bonnet, i.e. the easy bit!

  2. Ah OK, if you're interested in purchasing your own polisher then send me a PM. I recently read a bit of information, posted up on some forums and got some good recommendations. It's actually quite easy to do when you get the hang of it.

  4. Hi guys,

Today I wanted to test out my digital camera's time delayed function and thought, what's more interesting that car washing :) My dad's car was pretty filthy so was planning on giving it a complete detail but was interupted by the rain. I will finish it tomorrow (more machine polishig and wax) and post up the before and after shots. But I thought I'd share today's progress in photos. There is a popular saying that "the camera" adds 10lbs, my digital camera adds 30lbs.

  5. Ha ok :) I wouldn't have considered the Yellow until I saw it in person. Honestly if the paint is in good condition (with the mileage I'd see no reason for it not to be) then the colour really sparkles. It was a joy to clean and looks amazing polished up. Z's are usually head turners, but even more so with the yellow. I laughed when it was called "Ultra" Yellow but after I saw it I understood why :)

Oh, on a personal note, I'm not keen on the colour they have put on the alloys. It could just be the pictures, but they have an almost purple in them. Would look better on a black Z, but sure on the Yellow. I did mine black.

  6. For a garage sale I'd say this is priced about right, but I'd try to negotiate down towards £9,250. If they won't budge on price then try to get a 12 month warranty (if they don't already offer this). For reference I sold my Yellow GT4 (Volk alloys, Mine's SILENCE-VX PRO TITAN exhaust and a couple of other mods) with only 25K for £10,500 a few months back.

  7. My second attempt tonight! Again I managed to mess up my angles a bit! Just concentrated on the heavy scratched areas, first 1 buffed right out, second 1 is much less visible.

  8. I think a lot of new Z owners experience this to be honest. It would probably be worse in an EVO or Subaru! The fact you are a female could also contribute, a lot of men hate being overtaken (no matter what they drive) and when they see it's a woman doing so this would probably anger them more. I actually noticed the change more when I starting driving my old Merc estate, it's a more relaxed drive, even though I'm going the same speed, no one is up my bum in town, desperate to overtake me or speeding up when I go to overtake them. I found the Z good on the motorway, everyone assumes you want to go fast, so more often than not, they get out of the way. In the old merc when I'm sitting at 85mph on the motorway (in the inside lane) I find a lot of people (presumably not using cruise control) pass me as they assume I must be going slowly because I'm in a crap car and using the inside (correct) lane. Then a mile later I catch them up when they realise how fast they were going. Anyway don't let it bother you too much, as other say it's just jealously and you soon get used to it.

  9. Have a look a the Zeds for sale section, with that budget I'm sure you'll find a good example. I wouldn't get too hung up on the tax thing, if you pay an extra £100 for tax per year over 3 year ownership, it's not that much in the grand scheme of Z ownership. I find it funny when people boast about their brand new cars that cost £10K, but they only pay £20 tax a year. You lost £2K when you drove it off the forecourt silly :)

  10. Hi guys,

Just wanted to share this in case any traders hadn't imported any cars in a while. As of the 22nd June 2013 all V55 must be sent to Swansea, instead of being processed at your local DVLA office. Apparently new registrations used to take 3-4 days, now they can take 14 working days.

For the importer I use, this news came of the blue and has put a real strain on their business as all they do is import vehicles.
