  1. This is the best thread ever!

Most of my early cars were utter crap (mk 2 cavaliers, rover 414, peugeot 106, 1.0l polo), but my first half-decent car was a peugeot 306 1.9tdi, this was followed by an Audi A3 1.8T, a Renaultsport Clio 182 Cup (best handling car I have ever owner!), an Audi A3 3.2 V6 (quick but very clinical), a Skoda Fabia vRS ( ) and finally the zed!

The zed is easily the most fun, but after the diesel it's still making me cry every time I fill up!

p.s. the only car other than the zed I have a picture of is the 3.2 A3 and it didn't look very exciting to be honest...

  2. I've just spent the last half an hour and it's reassuring to see that all the bleeding heart types have kept their necks firmly wound in throughout the discussion!

How anyone in the House of Lords can argue that it's fair for a hard working person earning £40k p/a (around £26k after tax and NI) to be in a worse financial situation than a fat, lazy, socially and morally irresponsible baby-factory sitting on their arse all day watching their taxpayer funded Sky+ HD is a f**king mystery to me!

    Rant over... :)

  3. Right, I finally got round to my P1 service at Abbey and I have to say, I'm seriously glad I listened to all the opinions on here. The customer service was exceptional (as was the cheese and pastrami wrap!) and it was excellent to be over to look over the Jamie's shoulder while he performed the inspection and see what was going on!

Also, whoever suggested that the squeaking from my rear axle was caused by the droplinks was bang on!

  4. Regarding process after claybar, you can leave the car for waxing as you've used a detailing lubrication. Although I have on the odd occasion given it a once over with the snowfoam before waxing. As long as you've cleared the bodywork of all lubrication residue you'll be fine.

    Thanks Wasso! :)

  5. Sorry to hijack the thread in spectacular fashion, but after a rub down with a clay bar is it okay to wax immediately? I am a complete rube when it comes to good car cleaning techniques... :bangin:

  6. Hi Lexx, I have all the big things like plenum spacer, HFCs, uprev etc on my radar for later in the year (hopefully summer time) but I was wondering if there were any bits and bobs that were worth doing at the same time as the service based on everyone's modding experience. I'm talking in the region of 100-200 quid extra on top of the service if that's any help.

    Oh, and the car's a 2004 276 BHP model.

  8. I have the Zed booked in for a P1 service at Abbey next week and I was wondering if there were any little bits I should consider getting done at the same time. I'm not looking to start any heavy modding until later in the year so I was thinking maybe better brake or clutch fluid?

Any ideas would be much appreciated! :)
