Well my 2004 JDM Coupe went this afternoon with 51k. MD from Oxfordshire looked at it, drove it and loved it. Asked 5,500 and accepted 5,400 cash But I will be back when I get another after house downsize Advised him to come here to be kept on track Very sad to see it go up the road without me . I will stay here keeping on eye on you all

Terrible I hope you get it sorted. You need to see the CCTV recording asap because a lot of places have an overwrite cycle - how long the recording is kept being being over written or erased. The local garage to me works on a 48 hours cycle. Good luck

I'm going back a few years now, but a mate of mine had an Alfasud that was written off by a guy taking it for an accompanied test drive, went straight through a fence and into a field up on Flint mountain. As for my own experiences I don't think I've had that many test drives, when I drove The Zed I have now the salesman came with me...the first one I drove back in January 2006 was a Chilli Red demo

Hmm exactly I am not a good passenger and watching someone drive my car is like watching someone fiddling with my wife

What do people do when they are selling their car private as I am? The penny dropped with me a few days ago after someone had come to view and drive the car that their insurance would have only been 3rd party so if they bent the car I would be f..........d. Someone is coming tomorrow and I have asked them to get temporary comprehensive cover and bring the certificate which they have confirmed they have got and will bring. I will go with him and he can drive as long he likes. So what do other people do allowing test drives?

Hi there, seems to be a common problem with the Zed so not sure if anyone has a set of rear boot struts knocking about but really could do with some!
Countless times of nearly knocking myself out over the head with that heavy boot, if anyone has a set of x2 either OEM or after market (preferably heavy duty!) struts please let me know, price, postage etc!
Current car is 04 GT model so need struts that will fit that.
Thanks
Hi I got a pair from SGS. I recall something like £50 for a pair. If you have or intend to have a spoiler they sell a stronger pair of struts to take the weight. They fit perfectly and work well. I also renewed the thrust springs at the same time. Useful video here about changing them:

Thanks everyone
Went to see a couple of cars today, including MFM's ^^ - an immaculate car, very good condition inside and out, and obviously been well looked after, but I just dont think an JDM import is what i want. .
Hello Pete, thanks and good of you to put the nice comments on my car Just try to remember next time on a test drive the indicator stalk is on the right
Good luck in your search and I hope my comments about what to look out for will help in your search and then

Hi,
Forum newbie here! Just thought I'd introduce myself and my near-start to 350z ownership.
Not a great start to 'Z' ownership but I already have 3 to go and see tomorrow. Better luck this time, I hope.
Pete
Hi Pete, good luck with your search. I think I may be one of the ones you are viewing is mine tomorrow
My advice is check to see if the car has been looked after. Imports/or UK does not matter but you get a lower price with JDMs. There are plenty of guides on here ..................And

Do agree with smaller/no plate option tho (Like motorbikes don't have front plates so.....)
I had bikes for quite a while, last one was a Moto Morini 500 ~~~~ years ago. I seem to recall that bikes did have front number plates mounted vertical on the front mudguard (numbers both sides) but they found they acted like Stanley knives in an accident so the requirement was dropped. Is my memory right?

Where are you in the UK?

Looks like a fatality to me
The owner may have not been the driver; poor car and driver.

If you post the add, mabe one of our kind members might be close enough to give it the once over for you. I bought privately and glad I did, turned up at his house to find a shrine to the car in his garage so knew it had been looked after
I agree

Hmmm
Filled up today with diesel the Isuzu 4x4 at the cheapest in East Sussex - £1.40.9 litre
Filled up today the Z at Tesco (Momentum) in East Sussex - £1.42 litre
Nearly getting to the point where I can defend the keeping of the Z on fuel cost saving!

Stock has arrived
I have 10 sets in stock and ready to go £40.00 Delivered 2-3 days
Good quality and not cheap chinese copies! These will fit the pre facelift 03-05 350z's and the Nismo V1 front bumper all years
Curious - not a dig.
Why are these pieces of reflective plastic so expensive given they must have cost maybe pence or a couple of pounds to produce?

Bad luck indeed !
Faults can appear very quickly.
About 20 years ago I bought new a Renault 5. The car being 18 months old I went to the shops and went back home. Then I was to take my one year old daughter somewhere. We went out to the car and it would not start. I decided to return baby to the house and then go back to the car to see what the problem was.
A few minutes later, when I went back out to the car it had smoke and flames belching out of the engine area and in a few minutes the windows had shattered and two tyres had popped. Fire Brigade were called by a neighbour. The Fire Brigade inspected the car and traced the fire to a fault in the original loom leading to the dash board.
Even now whenever I see a car parked up with children left inside it makes me wince.
As regards your fire trashed car, take the loss or claim on the insurance and lose the 2k over time with the premiums

This winter found my boot lid won't stay open, but when its warm the struts are able to support it.
I tried aftermarket struts apparently for my model, but they had different fittings.
Refitted my original struts and now the boot wont shut properly, the leading edge (with the roof) sits slightly proud and the boots 'pops' open when released, as if its under force when shut.
Buggered struts does anyone think? and any ideas on costings for new OEM or aftermarket struts?
Cheers all
You can try the pennies trick in the springs but it is a short time fix. The struts are not a big price. I had to replace mine and they work fine even when it is nippy. If you have a spoiler then tell them and they will boost

Hope this helps.

Buy it cheap, buy it twice...
At the end of the day it is your money, but if you go for the cheapest option with no backup then you take a risk

Hi
"absolutely immaculate" and "mint" (his words without being prompted)"
Made me smile
"mint" was one of the favourite words of Arthur Daley in 'Minders'
