  1. Now that the numbers are taken I've been googling travel times between possible stop overs and routes etc etc. As this is everybody's mini holiday and hoon can you give me hours of daily driving yous want to max out at. I'm not fussy, I'll drive all day (with regular leg stretch breaks) but I know that's maybe not everybody's cup of tea and also I would like to actually see the places we are passing through as opposed to just flying through them, but this will also dictate the route I plan. My initial thoughts are 6 - 8 hours driving a day with lunch breaks and photo stops between hotels and stop overs.

This will basically dictate what route and how much of the NC500 we are able to take in, in the 4 days. As rough guide to the route which I am planning it be as follows.

    FRIDAY

Everybody meet at Balloch on the A82 for the starting point at the foot of Loch Lomond. From there we head north following the A82 up the full length of Loch Lomond and on to Crianlarich.

From Crianlarich we continue north up to Fort William. Lunch stop here and then continue heading north on the A82 to Invergarry and then pick up the A87 and up to Portree on the Isle of Skye for our hotel night.

    SATURDAY

Pick up the A850 and A863 and then back onto the A87 to head off the Isle and pick up the A890 and head north east to get on to the A835 which will take us north west and into Ullapool for a lunch stop. From there it will be north to the A894 and A838 to Durness. Then it's the A838 and A836 to Portskerra and an overnight stop, but we may have to go to Thurso for hotels.

    SUNDAY

Depending on where we overnight it will be either the A9 (Thurso) or the A897 and head south to Helmsdale. From there its the A9 south to Inverness to pick up the A82 and head south down full length of Loch Ness and Loch Lochy and into Fort William for hotel stay.

    Monday

From Fort William we head East and onto the A86 along Loch Laggan and onto the A889 and down to Pitlochry, onto Perth and down the M90 heading over the Forth Road Bridge. ......... and homeward bound from there for the southern and edinburgh members.

This is just a first "proof" for the trip and is doable within the time constraints we are working with. Obviously if members wish to peel off at points of their preferred places that's fine and all good but the accommodation that I organize will be set up for this route.

If this route is to good for you I will get looking at accomodation at the points I've stated and post up asap with the details for the attendees to get booked in.

    Cheers

Orange is just as good as all the others. Which is to say, not as good as gunmetal
