    My New Zed

OK - so having driven a few more motorway miles now I can see that above 80/90 or so the car wobbles. I feel it most through the transmission, although putting it in neutral leaves the car with the same wobbly feel. Kind of relieved as I thought it was a transmission prob but now I am guessing it is the back tyres. It feels the same up to 120 - I don't normally do this speed but I had to just demonstrate to Mr RX-8 this morning that a 350Z was far superior. Talk about linear acceleration. No drop off in pull! Never normally exceed 75mph as I can feel the forecourts slowly pulling my wallet out of my pocket, sniggering. Anyway. Car is booked in with a local Nissan dealer (under extended warranty) for them to take a look at. However, I have been told on the phone that they won't drive the car above the national speed limit. I completely understand this - but how could they diagnose the problem if they don't hit 80+? They could go straight for a wheel rebalance but if this doesn't solve it, then I guess I will have to drive all the way back to the garage and take them for a ride. Massive problem > I am getting a Nissan MICRA courtesy car. I begged. Pleaded. Do they not know I will get torn apart at work?
  2. Lucky whilst also being massively unlucky! Out of interest, how long were you on the circuit before your off - and how much fuel did you go through? I struggle to get reasonable mpg on cruise @ 70mph!

I did think at first it may be the wheels. But I can only feel it through the gear lever, everything else feels tight. Obviously, when you press and depress the accelerator, you can feel the transmission engaging the load, but then past 80/90mph it turns into a wobble.

Afternoon all, Thought I would get a pic up of the best-coloured, 313 GT that I bought 2 weeks ago. So far, I have loved every minute of it. Apart from the fuel consumption. Somehow managing to spend far in excess of what I had budgeted, and I am driving it pretty conservatively. <300 mile range on a full tank sound about right? Ah well. Sht happens. I think most of it gets burnt off to produce that sound! 2 probs I have noticed. 1. There is a big fag burn in the headlining above the driver's head - any fixes for this? 2. I have mentioned this before, but the transmission seems to wobble firmly at 80+ mph. Hard to describe really. Don't want to keep speeding to catalogue when the prob occurs. I know it has been mentioned on her before about the 5th gear being a palm-shaker, but I think it was doing it in 6th too. I have a year's warranty from Nissan, so I can take it back if necessary (it's just a long way). I just don't know if I am being ridiculously over-cautious or not. Anyone else suffer with this?
  5. I had a few probs pairing my iPhone, worked 1st time but then not for a few days. A simple on/off of the car seemed to help and allow me to pair it. Probably not the above but good luck with finding a solution.
  6. Having a bad old time sorting insurance out. Current best quote after many moons of searching is with Admiral for £1,500. 30 male, 3 points for motorway speeding, no no-claims. I live in Manchester. That seems to be one of the biggest problems. My issue is that I have been riding sports bikes claim free for 4 years, but that doesn't get taken into account by any insurer. Complete b****cks if you ask me. If there is one thing that gives you road awareness it's looking out for people trying to kill you on each and every motorbike journey. Most of the other companies were repeatedly trying to charge me £6,000 with a £3,000 manditory excess! I have a history of performance cars too, but lost my no claims as I didn't insure a car in my own name for 2+ years.
  7. OK - the wife has sorted it (again) for me. It was on a preset radio channel. So there must be a transmitter in there somewhere. I can't imagine the sound quality is that good, but I will test it out. It seems a bit odd that someone's gone to that extent to install an iTrip-type gadget. I am thinking the that the tape mod would be a lot better? Thanks again for your help!
  8. Nope, can not get it working. Tried a tape in it too, just the tape comes through
  9. I am sure I pressed the tape button (as I know that's how they work with the standard mod), but as there is no tape in it, the stereo didn't react. I will try again/excuse to go for another drive :-)
  10. Ok, so after my little sagas I have finally ended up with my 2007 313 GT in black. It's absolutely fantastic. It's much quicker than I remember, with some seriously addictive engine tones. Anyway. I was considering doing the iPod mod to the Bose system, but my wife discovered a jack in the covered centre console by the handbrake. There is also a simple on off switch by the driver's left knee. She plugged her iPod in, flicked the switch to on and hey presto, iPod was on. I can't seem to get it working though. Tried everything bar opening it up. Has anyone got a mod like this? Any ideas on how to get it working? Apart from a cigarette burn in the headlining, there is only one other issue. Doing 80-90 on the motorway yesterday, the transmission felt like it was wobbling a little through the gear knob. Not all the time, and I don't know if it's speed related - didn't test it (already have 3 points, could do without getting more!). The car has a year's warranty so I am not desperately worried, just wanted to know if this is normal or if anyone had a similar issue. Thanks for all your help so far. Hopefully get some pics up soon to demonstrate that black is actually the best colour!
  11. So you wouldn't consider it less of a selling prospect if you were browsing? That's good to know anyhow. I just need the flipping thing now!
  12. All I found was this topic http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=45551&hilit=level+1+service. Just not sure what the norm is. Anyone know a good independent nr Manchester? Thanks
  13. OK – So I have put a deposit down on my Z, all going well with the motorbike sale tonight and I should have a black 07 313 GT Sat Nav on Wednesday! Tell you what though – one thing concerned me. Bit late now but I thought I would just check it out with some knowledgeable people on here. The servicing is supposed to go P1>P2>P1>P3 and repeat. I get that. However, the Nissan dealer told me the Z has had P1>P2>LV1. I have found some info on here about LV1/2/3 services, but wondered if they should be avoided? They do less work than the P services – so should I be concerned and continue with Ps? Or should I carry on with LVs as it’s fine? Thanks Almost Z Owner
  14. Is the Bose system any good? On the test drives I have done, the radio is all I have had to go on. And the bluetooth that comes with the car - is anything else needed - or does it just pair up to a phone and hey presto?
  15. I thought that was too good to be true...! Not a GT, need one as I have got damn used to heated leather seats! (and it's being demanded by the Mrs...!) Is it yours? Not seen many in Temper Orange... but then again, my search criteria has always been 2007! Seech
  16. Would anyone be concerned if a Z had 3 owners in 4 years already? I would be the 4th - come the day of sale and I think I would struggle to shift it!
  17. I thought as much. Still, I think it looks OTT. Defo prefer the standard kit!
  18. Thanks Peter, Not feeling that spoiler either, and for that budget I could get an 08 I reckon. Dano - How long ago was that?
  19. I know - the only time that place is any good is if you have a lemon for sale.
  20. Thanks for that people. I suppose if I had to ask, I should have just walked away. Cheeky fckers have offered me less than "We Buy Any Bike" have for my R1!!
  21. Afternoon people. Just been for another test drive. Black 07 GT 313 with 31k on the clock. I think it was an ex company car. Seat looked a bit worse for wear, few scratches and scuffs on the interior. 1st was ok, but second was not only tough to get in, there was a little crunch on occasion. But other than that, all good. Except for the service history. It had a P1 at 10,000 miles after 1 year (08). Should have been 9,000. Then it had an "LV3" service by Wlmg Nissan in Slough - but this was at 30,000 miles. Can't remember at what point this was, but it has certainly missed one. One of the cheapest 07s around (£13,190), but I am wondering whether it is worth walking away because of the service history. Would you?

Sorry - should have read that better. Brill.

That may be may fault - I asked the cambelt question! So it is definitely 4 years then? If so, the car I looked at, which is due a service in a few months, will need a cam chain even though it's sub-20K miles?

Test drove a 313 PS 2007 Coupe today. Just 18,000 miles. I was thrown the keys and told to go and take her for a spin. Only had 10 or so minutes as I was on a lunch hour and needed to get back to work. I was speechless. Such an amazing sound. Bucket loads of torque. Tail happy. Amazing looks. I drove a 300 PS model a few weeks ago; took it easier as I had a salesman with me that time. Somehow, it really didn't impress as much as I thought it would. But this one was an event, start to finish. I think just knowing it has more power is enough for me. ANYWAY, I digress. A couple of points I have noted - I would really appreciate people's opinions, if you would be so kind. 1. From cold, it was difficult to select 1st and 2nd ratios - I have read about this on here and it seems harmless enough - surely not a reason to turn the car down? 2. There was a repetative clicking sound at one point, driving slowly over dodgy car park potholes. Ideas? 3. I spoke to the Nissan High Performance centre in central Manchester today who assured me that the services go P1>P2>P1>P3. This is consistent with what is being said on this forum. The service history is stamped by this very dealership as P1>P2>P3. Should I be worried? 4. Nissan said that a cambelt service is 54K or 5 years. Is that right? I have read in a post aimed at newbie owners that it should be 4 years. I thought I would ask this as I usually buy without considering consequences, but I want to make sure I am not buying a melon (like a lemon, but bigger and with a meaty V6 in it). Cheers folks
  25. That would be an amazing car to own! But not only would my budget not stretch at the minute, I fear that being used as my daily runner would ruin me (sueprcharger servicing!). Thanks anyway Steady.
