  1. when i was looking to buy i was looking for a 2005 car due to the lower tax... it was after having a look around i came to the conclusion that for an extra £4 a week in tax i could pay similar money and get a newer car with lower miles for the same price as people were asking for a 2005 car.

to me it was a no brainer... i bought the newer car and pay the higher tax and do not regret it one bit

  2. The roadster ones also have netting in the middle of them to help air circulation, so they are different looking to the coupe ones.

not all of them do.. my seats are exactly the same as would be in a coupe with the hump in the drivers seat and no mesh

  3. We do not condone the antics you have shown us in that vid that appears to be on the public highway

    +1 just interested

I have found that the traction control will kick in between gear shifts 1st to 2nd when giving it some beans really killing the pick up. It makes no did fence to engine power but does mean that you get all the power all the time.

  4. already booked in at a steak house that has this in their menu!

24oz Bone-in Rib Eye - our in-house favourite, but not for the faint hearted. Similar in shape and size to that of a small tennis racket!

my future has one of them bad boys in it for sure!!!

That's a shame mate, was looking forward to seeing you and your car. By way of recompense it is without doubt your sworn duty to make your weekend as decadent as possible ;)

  5. with regret i am going to have to remove myself from the list.. shame as it looks like its going to be a huge meet! the possible weekend away has happened so i will be away

will try my utmost to turn it into a dirty weekend away to make up for it though ;)

have a good one guys... look forward to seeing the pics!

  6. its covered under my policy and i only have to pay £75 excess for the change with no effect on my bonus or insurance elsewhere. its national windscreens that i have to use.

just wondered if there are any complications with it being a convertible and if there are any things to watch out for and make sure the windscreen guys dont muck up or break

  7. was having a great weekend... out and about with the roof down in the lovely crisp winter countryside when a bleedin great stone flicked up by a passing car hits the windscreen and cracks it from one side to the other

i guess its better it hit glass than bodywork but still

anything i need to know about how much of a pain in the backside replacing a roadster screen is before i call the insurance and arrange for someone to come out? thankfully this should only cost me £75 excess but still

  8. my father in law lives just outside the city (to the east over the bay and hills) in a place called Walnut creek. we go out there at least once and sometimes twice a year. :teeth: its a great place and very much worth a vist. most of the in town things to see have been covered in previous posts.

i would say the best way to see the city is to walk and cable car your way round... if you are going for the cable car take my advice and jump on it part way round its route as the queues at the start of the routs can be crazy long, that said you are going out of season so it should be quieter... in fact in feb it could be crazy cold in SF!

the city itself is in its own micro climate and can be cold and foggy there in the height of summer! we have been there before where it has been 105 degrees in Walnut creek (30 mins drive from the city) and only 65 degrees in the city itself. have over the years driven and riden around the city in different cars and on harleys with highlights being driving over the golden gate bridge heading north onto highway 1 in a 2005 Corvette and riding a harley fat boy (like arnies in terminator) through the buisiness district with the sound that went with it (rode like a pig but sounded good!)

if you can get a hire car there is soooo much more to see! heading north to sausalito and then up to nappa or stay on the coast and go to Bolinas and Bodega bay (great Oysters!)

heading south you have half moon bay and the great highway 1 down to Santa Cruz (home of the lost boys) and then round monterey bay to monterey itself, keep going to reach Carmel (clint eastwood is the town mayor here)

i would say Tahoe is prob too far to go if your over there on a business trip but if you ever go back for a holiday it is beautiful up there! and the must must see place if you are out there on a holiday is Yosemite national park!

i have so many photos and memories!

we are heading back out there this september and will be popping up to vancouver for a few days while there for some mountain walking and Giant sturgeon fishing

hope you have a great trip!

  10. not necessarily the best for keeping dust down but carpet tiles are my number one flooring for the garage! really helps make the place feel warmer.. makes the floor a nicer place to sit lay crawl on when working on the car and any spillages and or accidents can just be replaced with a new tile or two.

not got tiles down in my curent garage but had the offer of a full carpet from a mates place so went with that. good workbench with a vice bolted to it. power is a must and have full trip swiched power in mine with a lighting circuit and power circuit with power outlets at both ends and side of the garage. also have a treble joist over the piers in the middle of the garage which comes in handy for hoisting or lifting engines, bikes or anything heavy. fully boarded out loft space with a huge trimmed out access hatch for getting the larger items up and down from the space up there.

i also have a remote control roller shutter door on mine which not only helps keep the door nice and sealed at the bottom but makes opening and closing a breeze.

all that said i dont keep any cars in my garage, cant fit it in there!... just my ZX12r, bike lift/workbench, fishing gear, bait freezer, air compressor, jet wash and many many old pots of paint! lol

  12. credit where credit is due!

big thanks to all at Abbey for excellent customer service

had my roadster booked in with them today for a P1 service and while there they changed out the trans fluid + moly (thanks zmanalex) and sorted an MOT then ran it on the dyno to reflash the uprev to the mods i have made during the year.

Mark came and picked the car up on the way to work this morning then dropped it off on the way home (i am on his way to work) he also worked his magic on the dyno and got the best out of the car with a nice big lump of torque and some extra ponies in the mid range although for some reason (he thinks exhaust) the bhp tailed off ever so slightly at the top end (really not fuused about that)

Scott kept me informed all the way through so thanks again for a hassle free service. as always it was a pleasure!

next time im coming to you... i hear there is toast and marmite on offer!
