  1. Thanks for the feedback all - I am indeed now thinking about keeping it.

Of course the wife thinks I'm selling it, but in reality I've done absolutely nothing in terms of trying to shift it yet :scare:

Had a look on Auto Trader and it seems a fair price is around 21-23K - frankly I'm not taking a hit that big on a 10 month old car - £24K might have tempted me, but even though I've got the most desirable colour B) I don't think I'll get that.

  2. Just moved house, so now walking distance to work.

370 has to go :byebye: Just sitting idle mostly, so the sad question I'm forced to ask is...

Pearl white, fully specced, GT Pack, auto with paddle shift, sat-nav, 19" Rays, Bose etc, 9800 miles, on a 60 plate, no mods. What is it worth, and how easily will I sell it?

  3. Snap

But mine's a year older

But it sounds much better than yours :teeth:

I see you have a long list of mods planned on your other thread - you must be quite local so happy to meet up so you can see what I have done if that might help your plans

I'm in Chertsey, so gladly take you up on that, say when. First beer on me. :drive1

  4. what i did instead of paying someone £200 is signed up to detailingworld forum asked loads of questions and did it myself. the results were outstanding. i spent the £200 on jetwash and products etc which i am still using! much better way to spend £200 imo

Also not a bad shout, I have a compressor in the garage so might might buy some air-pressure washing gear - although I think I'll get Envy to do it first (so I can watch and learn), probably get them to come to work where I can rope a couple of others into sharing the cost ;)

  5. Getting it professionally detailed is also a Great idea. Should cost about 200 but it's a Great chance to watch and learn them prep the car and give tips.

Will take that advice... live in Chertsey, work in Maidenhead - any detailer recommendations from anyone?

  6. Hi Chris

Yes Audi was Auto, but I think the VAG auto box is arguably one of the best?

Am I right in thinking that the Z auto box, although 7-speed, is relatively old-skool technology?

Out again today and this evening, bucketing it down, been near sideways a couple of times which was interesting

Also found even in standard spec it is quite susceptible to scraping on sleeping policemen, maybe my plans to lower it may need to be reviewed :headhurt:

No doubt car will be filthy in the morning :yuck:

  7. Picked up my new Storm White from WLMG Slough late yesterday, pouring with rain, not ideal.

Enjoyment of drive home was marred by the weather and the Friday evening M25 traffic.

First impressions when compared to TT... noisier, ride a little harsher, more bumps, bangs and squeeks, doesn't seem to have the initial on/off acceleration that made the Audi such a revelation when I first got it.

    The better news...

Engine noise is yummy, and I'm sure it will only get better with the help of Abbey and HKS.

The side rear view is to die for, the whole area from side rear roofline/window/haunches is absolutely stunning in the flesh (sounds silly but reminds me of a De Tomasa Pantera), and white is so obviously the best colour ;)

It has so much more personality than the TT, the Z feels so much more than the sum of it's parts, it's a car where even the faults will become acceptable quirks.

    I have loads of questions...

What do I do first? Detailing, is there a definitive 'do this first' routine?

Stance, lower and wider, how low, springs or coilovers? Wider suitably offset wheels or spacers? What are new 19" forged Rays/tyres likely to fetch?

Engine? How do I get my on//off acceleration back (or is this the auto boxes fault)? Lighter flywheel? Intakes, catback, decat, Uprev - is it worth the £2-3000 to do it properly with HKS kit?

Bodywork - how do I get the front end looking as gorgeous as the rear 3/4 view? Currently front looks too much like a Celica, lacks drama and visual impact.

Thanks in advanced for sharing your expertise and opinion. :)

  8. I've sent the picture up top to Mark at Abbey, I'm hoping I'll be safer and avoid making costly mistakes by putting myself in their hands.

My fear now is that I've gone and got myself an expensive new hobby

Maybe I should have leased that Audi A5 diesel after all ;)

  9. Any of the traders here sell Rays Center Caps for the GT Pack 19" wheels?

Might be sacrilege, but I'm after de-Nissaning all of the badges - have ordered satin Z-badges for bonnet and boot, but want Rays wheel badges to avoid Z-badge overload.

Are Nismo badges on a non-Nismo deemed to be cheating?

  10. New car arriving, was wondering if it needed running in - with modern machining, modern alloys, modern synthetic oils, "is it really still necessary" I'm thinking.

On the basis that all human knowledge (and stupidity) can be found on Google, I had a looksee.

A few websites trotting out the standard 'running in' formula that probably pre-dates most of us here.

Then stumbled across a website where a fella is suggesting that ragging a new engine about a bit is actually beneficial.

Here's the link, so those interested can have a read and make their own minds up...

  11. Thanks for all feedback thus far.

I think I could easily live with a couple of grand investment (plus additonal cost of wheels etc) if it looked half as sweet as the pic up top of this thread.

How usable would it be day to day?

I love the 'in the weeds' look, but past experiences are along the lines of Mk1 Escorts, Mk1 Cortinas, both cars that are invariably lowered down to achieve a planted look, but with the wheels safely tucked away underneath.

This flush look on the Z, filling up the arches with minimal space between tyre and bodywork, looks like it probably comes with a few compromises attached.

The idea of switchable air appeals, raise and lower at will - if you aren't looking for 'track day' handling, or are more interested in aesthetics than dynamic performance, what is the primary downside of trading mechanical suspension for air suspension?

  12. Cheers. Sort of. You've just repeated all of the stuff that made my head hurt!!

    OK, easier still...

Who is going to do this for me?

    How much will it cost?

Will I be able to drive around without leaving bits of 370Z all over the place?

  13. Going to be noobish, but I'm a noob so what can I say. What sort of bits are required to achieve this look...

    370Z-ssr-ms1.jpg

...because I think that looks about as nice as anything I've seen in a long while.

I've done some searching around, but suffering from info overload; rolled arches, air, camber, offset, hellaflush (wtf), stance, spacers... my brain is fried already.

Bear in mind, last time I did any tuning of a car it was on a Mk1 Cortina circa 1990.

So easily digestible information, in laymans terms, would be greatly appreciated - to get that look, and be usable, what is required?

  14. Oh and thanks for the info re. Tracker and GAP insurance.

GAP insurance from elsewhere a fraction of the cost. Tracker scrapped completely.

I like it here, you lot have saved me a mint already.

Now all I need is for West Ham to win today, and it will have been a good week all round.
