Hi, check the professional detailers sites, some use them some dont, they will say that its the person using them that the problem, stand and watch the high street washers and you will see what I mean, dont copy anything they do.

They are too close and washing at the wrong angle i.e. jetting water straight on to the panels, you should always spray at an angle that hits the crud at a shallow angle hence washing it away. Spraying straight on will force the particles on to the surface. I watched them washing a nice black SLK around the wheels at a distance of less than a foot and they blew off the centre wheel cap clear of, they are permanently attached to the wheel.

You do not need high pressure and the karcher will do the job and you can get snow foam attachments for them, if you have the money then I agree the nilfisk is the better washer. You do need a washer if you want to snow foam.

Remember though its the user not the machine, also never final rinse with one always sheet your water.

You will get all sorts of advice from people who have already done this, some of which are not helpful and do not really help you, I found if this is your first time it is probably better to jack up on both sides ,remove the front inner linings, and then undertake the job referring to the helpful guides on this site, it is not that difficult, a flat scredriver and a 10MM socket and spanner etc will do the job. Once done like most things it is easier the next time.

You might want to ask any members around your area if they can give you a hand on this first occasion, this will make things very easy for you, don't forget to take photos of the stages and let us know how you got on.

I would have took a 350 z with mods to this budget. Now thats a different story.

Hi, as you are aware this guy does not let you down, a real proper professional detailer. I suggest you get his advised cleaning routine and you will not have a problem keeping it as it is.

Nice work, when they are like this you get a a lot of turned heads, I like to go down the high street because the traffics slow and you get lots of admiring views.

Its called Oxidization, no amount of polishing will help because the seal has broken down, it will return. Just another fine job done by old mother nature.

Sorry for being late on this but if you can streeeeeeetch this to one more, you can count me in. I think I won the "must have been asleep award", I have also sent a pm as well.

My friends from the detailing world will tell you not to use clay as the first option to remove tar deposits, it is considered the final operation to remove small surface defects to generate a perfect finish to polish on. Generally a suitable degreasant is sprayed on first and then a gentle wash to follow. There are many purpose made tar removers on this planet, I use Meguiars and find them a top quality detailing provider. Rubbing away with clay and a lubricant can and does cause damage without care, therefore best to let a tar remover do its work first, without using any force.

No need to use any naughty words to do this just go on to Meguiars.uk or clean your car.co.uk or any reputable car cleaning site to find a suitable tar remover for the problem.

I can vouch for the "clean your car ones" as above at £9.95. I have been using these for over a year and they never fail. You should be a able to dry your z with one but at this price indulge your self and get two.

Dont forget though, on your final rinse to "sheet" your water from the hosepipe, this really does make a huge difference to the amount of water left on the body.

Q.What is the high pitch whine coming from behind me? Sounds like a stereo being on, but with no sound?

 

A.Could be one of two things..

1. The fuel pump is fitted behind you. It could be that.

2. The amps for the stereo are also behind you and are on all the time. Even when the stereo is not on.

N.B. A Tonneau cover can help with both of these issues.

 

 

Q. My headlight washers don't work, any tips?

A. Make sure your washer bottle is filled ALL THE WAY UP. Your windscreen washers can work with a low washer bottle level, but your headlight washers may not.

I am told that this gives some basic information as to what you should be aware of when attempting to polish and or undertake detailing work, especially using machine polishers. I assume that those with professional detailing knowledge will comment as I am aware that they use an electronic measuring devices to assess paint thickness before undertaking any final polishing.

From my own research that is what I have been informed. I believe that it means in our case that we need to be a little more carefull when machine polishing on soft paint i.e. using less aggressive compounds etc, I await any other comments.
