  1. Hmm, sample could be tricky! Sure interiors sometimes have a spare bit of leather tucked under seat somewhere for colour matching. My last BMW did, just an excess bit of leather to cut off. Also think scuffmaster comes with toners to make slight adjustments to colour. Scuffmaster have a good reputation as far as i know, its made by Gliptone and I use their cleaner&conditioner which are great. My worry is how good a job I'd make! I'd hate to mess it up.
  2. Mines hardly used any so far! My old 330ci used loads, at least a litre every thousand miles. Checked my dipstick recently for first time and I honestly thought it was damaged! Is it really meant to look all twisted and crooked? People seem to be saying its terrible design so I'm guessing mines normal!
  3. Hi there!, I'm in exactly your position, just bought a Sunset Z with the orange leather and wanting to tidy up the bolsters. Never done it before so don't know how easy it is to get a good match? Have you looked on the Scuffmaster site? They list a Nissan orange leather in thir colour list. I'm considering this. Don't know how much a professional leather restorer would charge but I'd guess a lot!!!
  4. I tried spraying mine with grease but hasn't made a lot of difference! Mind I didn't pull back the rubber seal so that could be why. I've replaced drop links on my dads alfa before and it wasn't that hard just needed 2 jacks in order to lift the suspension arm up as the link only came off easily when suspension was at a certain angle. Didn't cure the noise on the Alfa mind, turned out to be the top mount!
  5. Hi, Just wondering if anyone on here has tried the scuffmaster kits on the orange leather and if so how successful it was. The side bolsters on mine have quite a few minor scuffs and some light cracking which has gone dark in areas. I already have the Gliptone cleaner and conditioner which I used to use on my BMW although they're both running low. I've used them once on the Zed but didn't make much difference to the side bolsters. The thing I'm worried about is how easy it is to successfully match the colour and if it would just be better to pay a professional to do it?? Any advice or experiences would be much appreciated! Cheers in advance!

    japspeed k1

that did cross my mind about the roadster that it wouldn't be as boomy. As far as coking up i actually have no idea how long the exhausts been on the car. Last owner fitted it and he had car 2 years but think he did low miles. Well unless someone fancies a swap or part ex i'll have to leave it on a bit, got summer hol to pay for soon!

    japspeed k1

unless i've got them in wrong! I've never had a car anything but standard before so possibly just not used to it. I'm torn between getting used to it or changing to be honest! I reckon from 3k onwards its amazing just don't like the boomyness lower down too much. Mainly on motorway&especially on inclines! Def think 350z is one of the nicest soundin affordable cars you can buy mind!

    japspeed k1

i've had my z nearly a month now and love it, it has a japspeed k1 fitted which i'm thinking of changing at some point. I know the k1 divides opinion a bit and i don't really think its for me! I love it sometimes but i find it too loud on longer runs which i do quite a lot. Its a tricky decision because when i just go out for a blast its great! Did my first tunnel on weekend with window down and it was awesome!! i'm just guaging interest really/getting ideas but was considering seeeing if anyone would be interested in a swap for something like a k2 or scorpion. Even possibly a good stock exhaust. Problem would be fitting potentially. I've never removed an exhaust before so don't know how hard it is. Any advice or opinions much appreciated! Cheers!

    rusty!

has anyone else noticed much rust underneath their z???? Mines a uk model with only 31k but seems quite rusty in places. Worst bit is near the back, i've got a japspeed k1 on car so this area might be hidden by backbox on most cars. It seems to be part of the chassis. I'm sure its just surface rust but i don't like it!! Was just wanting anyones opinions/similar experience. I'm considering blasting the rust off and waxoyling it but have heard conflicting opinions on this
  11. Thats good to know with the cats. It did look a like a lower layer almost that was really rusty. I've heard about K2 fitment issues but was under impression it had been rectified. Is worth bringing up with trader though just in case.
  12. Right had a look under car in my lunch break and I reckon my cars got the stock Y pipe although its quite hard to have a good look without the car jacked up. Sure it doesn't look like the Japspeed one though Are the 2 boxes before the Y pipe the cats? They looked really rusty! Bit worrying although car just passed MOT. Gave the back of the exhaust a bit of a polish while I was at it. Most of the marks came out (reckon with a bit of time they'd all come out!) The mounts on the K1 are quite rusty mind.
  13. Ok, I was hoping that maybe the K2 back box would direct fit same as the K1 but seems thats not the case! I've noticed a lot of people on here seem to like the Scorpion, I'll give that a look. And the blueflame! So if I have a k1 does that mean I will have the Y pipe or does the K1 fit the standard Y pipe? Also if I do have the Japspeed Y pipe will that be compatible with scorpion, blueflame etc? I'm a complete novice as I've always had completely standard cars in the past. The way I'm thinking at the moment is to stick with the K1 for a bit and see if I get sick of it. If I do then buy something else and sell the K1. What an awesome sound the 350z makes though no matter what exhaust! Was a big part of the appeal to me.
  14. Hi, I'm a new Z owner, just picked it up wed night and loving it so far! The only thing I'm undecided about is the Japspeed K1 fitted. I love the sound it makes and am enjoying it at the moment but long term I'm not sure it will be for me. Especially on long trips etc (can be quite boomy under load on motorway etc) I've been looking on Japspeeds site as I'm aware the k2 is a bit more subtle. But I also noticed this.. http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-350Z/E ... 19-72-723/ Was just wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Think I prefer the tailpipes on the k2 and this one to the K1's big cans. Is this just a stainless which is similar to stock exhaust? Haven't seen any video clips of it on youtube etc. Not sure if I have the Japspeed Y pipe and if this would mean K2 would fit easier. I'll have a look underneath when I get a chance. I'm not totally decided yet, may keep the k1 but would like some opinions. It does sound amazing and I might be disappointed if I can't hear it anymore! Cheers in advance for any help/opinions!
  15. cheers i'll check that out! Tried uploading pics, i'm on phone&images were too largel i'll get them up soon!
  16. well i picked it up yesterday&had an amazing drive back. Love it! Seems to turn a lot of heads too (may be the exhaust!) later on i noticed a worrying knock going round tight bends but turned out to be spare wheel nuts in the storage behind passenger seat! Phew. Only real query i have is about the clutch, it seems to operate fine but when i take foot off the pedal it moves up a bit more which i've never experienced before. Also found the car has a bluetooth phone thingy fitted although i have no instructions for it. It is nissan&bt branded so official i reckon. Will have to have a play with that. I'm still undecided bout the k1 exhaust. It sounds great but i wish i could turn it off on motorway. Its ok until an incline generally. Maybe i'm too used to quiet bmw! I'll keep a lookout for north east meets, where do they normally happen? Cheers for all the welcomes!
  17. I'm in North Shields. Funny you should say that about not enough to feel like a common car but I haven't seen a single 350Z in the past week since I decided to buy mine. Gotta be a good thing! Did see a yellow 370Z yesterday in Gosforth but again don't see many of them either. I'll check out that link! Cheers!
  18. yep headin over to get it after work, can't wait!!! Drive back is along some of my favourite roads on the northumberland coast. Well my dad assures me exhaust is lot quieter with bungs in but still sounds amazing! He's been keeping a check on it as he works at the dealership! I'll try get some decent photos up asap!
  19. Can't wait to properly get used to the car, enjoyed test drive but its not the same. Well I've just had a call to say its going to be ready tomorrow as garage are still waiting on the discs and pads coming in. Just have to be patient! Seems to be conflicting opinions on the K1 exhaust but I guess it depends on what you like. I've always had standard cars so far but loved the sound, just couldn't hear the radio or talk that was all!
  20. Well I did my 1st post last week as I was viewing a 350z. Well I loved it and today I will be picking it up. The Nissan dealer have fully serviced it, done a safety check, 1 year warranty and are sorting a couple of stone chips and a kerb mark on one of the alloys but it should be ready. They replaced the rear discs and pads (to be honest I thought they looked fine!) Can't wait to collect and more importantly drive it. It has a Japspeed K1 fitted and last owner had taken bungs out in last week he had it, so it was really loud! Sounded awesome but for my tastes too loud, especially on the motorway. Dealer assured me bungs would be put back in and it would make huge difference. I'm not totally convinced but I'll give it a chance! Any opinions?? Possibly end up swapping exhaust for something more subtle! Another question I have is should I run it on super unleaded? I mostly ran 330ci on super but stopped recently when prices became ridiculous, can't really say I noticed any difference! By the way I'm based near newcastle. Many Z owners locally?? Cheers again, I'm really impressed with this forum so far by the way!
  21. well i test drove the car last night and i loved it! So i'm going to go for it. Was really impressed with the way it drove and it felt rock solid. Rear visibility is pretty awful but i drive a van with no back windows regularly. It has the bose hifi, rays wheels and the orange leather, does th at make it a gt pack? Not sure when i can pick it up yet, its getting checked over at dealer, stone chip on bonnet sorted etc. I'm getting a 1 year warranty as well which is nice! Ps i assume bonnet is aluminium as stonechip had no rust&bonnet felt light! Can't wait!!!
  22. Sounds bout the same here. She won't drive my BMW cos its too powerful but reckons she might like to drive the Z! Seems to be a few Nicks in the Z world!!!
  23. Thats really weird! I went from a Puma to my 330ci (and hopefully to a 350Z!!) Must be a Nick thing!!! Totally agree with you that the BMW is a really competent car but just not as exciting as it could be. Its brilliant on a long trip but when you hit the B roads it could do with being a bit more involving. Loved my Puma, it was a surprisingly quick car which I loved blasting down the local country roads in. Surprised some quicker cars sometimes!! Made quite a good noise I thought too! Rust was the problem with Pumas though. At the moment I'm totally sold on the 350, shame it doesn't have back seats but sure I'll cope, don't use mine that much anyway. Also I think your right bought women liking them, its one of the few cars my girlfriend likes that I do too. I did want an M3 for a bit and she didn't see difference between that and the 330ci (running costs in a big way is one!)
  24. Thanks for all the welcomes guys, seems like a really good forum and I'm guessing theres loads of meets/events etc. Seems like the Z's got a huge following. Not surprised really!
