  1. Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate the advice, how much are oem discs? Ive also got a full set of ebc yellows on, i put them on today and now ive got brake judder, i had to grind the discs a bit but theyre obv past it :s so i think i need to change the discs sharpish before i wreck the pads (in honesty it shouldnt) but i dont want to risk it. Thanks again
  2. Just to add, this will only be for general road use and the occasional bit of oopmp, and will not be on a track. andlid, thats whats worried me, read a few things about the ebc ones which has made me worry.. Is there anything out there less than 150 notes?
  3. Hi there. With the brembo setup, what actual choices are there for front brake discs, that aren't in the high end price bracket? I can get some ebc ones for approx £190, and have seen a few others for that kind of price, is that basically as cheap as they are? or are there budget ones? Also, if the rears are ok, do you still have to change the whole set(front and rears?) Just been reading about brake bias, so a little unclear. Thanks
  4. Hi there, Been searching and reading for a while but haven't yet found anywhere that is reputable. Can anyone recommend an independent garage that does servicing in Staffordshire? My zeds coming up to 60k, so I will be looking at the P1 service shortly. I've considered doing it myself, but for ease of use, and the fact I want to keep full service history I'm thinking it may pay to take it somewhere. Thanks
  5. I think thats what ive got then, so will need to do the window test to see what side. Can you ever get this type of problem on the front? Also, where is this hole? I've not checked mine so think its worth a go - secondly - what specific oil? Gear oil I presume.... i gathered that lol, was just wondering if its a certain type, never bought gear oil before so was wondering if its the same as car oil.. e.g different types for different engines etc etc

  7. i know the greasing doesnt actually fix the problem, but is the process pretty much the same? just remove, rotate, grease and wait til it happens again? I'm a little short of funds until I get married and am considering the cheap option to last a few months before doing it properly..
  8. I'm a little confused about these, as there seems to be two different problems that cause similar noises. Could anyone describe them in a little more detail? I can hear clicking but not with the windows up, and to be honest, i pull away i can hear a click and if i come off the accelerate it sort of clicks again, put my foot down and i can hear the click again etc etc, but can't really tell if this is from the front or the back. Additional to this, when i go around an island, it sounds like i've got a stone in my wheel, what could that be? it may actually be a stone.. but can't see one as of yet
  9. does anyone know what nissan classify this problem as? Just because my warranty states they would only fix this unders warranty if nissan classify it as a "sudden mechanical failure" which seems a bit of a cop out really..
  10. Thanks for the info. If you dont mind me asking, how much did the wheels set you back? and I agree about the winter tyre delay, spoke to a chap earlier who said exactly the same.. I assume yours would then be: front 17 x 7.5 with a 30mm offset and rear 17 x 8 and a 33mm offset?
  11. Thats the problem, this morning i got off the smaller roads on to what i'd normally call a main road(a fair bit of activity) and it was shocking, sliding from side to side, couldnt get traction up the hill etc etc.. i suppose i could use them til i got on a duel carrigeway but just as bad at the moment, but as mentioned might just try them every mile or so.
  12. ahh, that makes it interesting them, mines uk with brembos.. looking around the net now but nothing conclusive as of yet
  13. You could drop to suitable 17". I wouldnt mind doing that, how can i find out what actually would be suitable, ie which size to go for? Cheers!
  14. Apologies if this comes across as a silly question, just summing up my options. Winter tyres are in v.short demand, and im considering buying a set of alloys(2nd hand) and winter tyres(new) for the zed. These can cost loads, so looking for some cheap alternatives in all honesty. Am I right in thinking I would have to stick with the same size alloy and same size tyre for my zed, or in theory could you get smaller alloys and thinner winter tyres? Any suggestions?
  15. do you think its ok using these for short journey, ie 6mile each way? roads are mostly slushy/icy/snowy with some of the main roads a little better. I don't want to destroy them just yet..
  16. well.. left for work, slid the whole way, uncontrolably.. due to sliding from side to side, i couldnt get traction to get up the hill. Pulled over, snow shoes on, and i've gone back to work from home! Impossible. Seriously considering getting a second car again
  17. Out of interest what weight have you put in the boot?
  18. Now got 4 bags of sand in the boot, and it does actually make it a lot more stable. I stopped on a slight incline while I gave way to someone, couldnt get started but 2nd gear pulled through and I managed to get up my road and onto the drive tonight.. New tyres coming tomorrow also, not snow tyres, but a better gripping tyre that i've read a lot about over the last few days, so things should improve.
  19. i have, just passed the MOT aswell a few days ago, so all ok, but seriously, its made me consider selling my zed, just because of this, its shockingly bad. I've been looking for a fair while now where I can get some winter tyres but everyone appears to have sold out which is a shame, or I can't find anyone local to be able to fit them. Even getting up my street onto my drive involved a lot of sliding and pushing
  20. Well i'm having a pretty hard time with my zed at the moment with the snow, i.e absolute nightmare. I've got no second car(gf has one but she uses it), damn i wish i hadnt sold my old vectra. Anyway, strugled tonight, 1 hr journey each way, and i literally slid the whole way, even on duel carriageways, and i was driving as carefully and correctly as you possibly could. I have some snow socks, but these arent good for whole journeys... i have to do 6 mile each way to work, and if i left them on the whole journey i think they would disintegrate. I know snow tyres would be a plus, and im going to try and get some but 1, i can't find any, 2 theyre expensive and 3 i doubt ill find any before xmas. now, my question is, would putting some extra weight in the boot help, or hinder? I've got a bag of sand in there, which does nothing, but I have some other bags I could put in there if it made any difference. Thanks for the advice.
  21. The ones I had were the genuine ones. They are really good quality, the only downside is the difficulty putting them on, but with a bit of patience, its worth it.
  22. Got mine this morning.. Just tried them in the works car park (nice and icy) firstly reversed back from my space, slippy as hell..(as a test). Put them on(it was actually a bit difficult) i had to remove my watch, and got covered in dirt on hands and forearms(so if you're going to need these, have some gloves with you.. Anyway, struggled a little putting them on, in the end i folded the elastic bit around my hand and pushed with my finger tips, did this all the way round where I could, both sides(one side was easier as i was on a slight slope - thus more arch room). Reversed back and put then next bit on, tried it out and wow, they work better than i thought.. Worth the money - yep, seems like they are useful and will definately help, messy - yep difficult to put on - ish, but not that bad, saves nearly crashing the only issue now is, finding somewhere decent enough to pull over to put them on, i was going to(when needs be) pull over on side of road(up a kerb) but I can see how this would make arch clearance even worse, so god knows.
  23. they look really easy to put on on the videos, whats hard about it? I suppose all the vids are when you're no stuck in traffic or stuck on a drive waiting to get to a meeting Any tips for putting them on/off apart from what the vids suggest?
  24. Just ordered some of these myself, absolute nightmare getting home today, so these could get delivered sooner, everywheres sold out of them as you'd expect, but hopefully get them sooner rather than later... the problems going to be, using them to get out of a situation = ok, but its the stopping to put them on/off is an issue, as normally main roads are fine, other roads arent, but better than nothing. Think im going to save up for some winter tyres, if they are really that good?
  25. you not going to get any for the front as well? Shame they can't make them look a little more aspethically pleasing or atleast a nicer colour lol
