  1. And my thoughts are........

Am glad i got the 350Z (was a close run thing i nearly got myself a 4.5l V8 cerb for only 1k more than my 350Z).

1st off i LOVE the cerbera, hand stitched leather dashboard, the best sounding engine this side of something over 100k and imo it is just a bit special.

So my mate and i had a play, and following him was simply incredible, the sound was honestly like a jet engine - so much so, i was wondering why my car was not picking up, turned out i was hitting the rev limiter in 4th - but i could not hear my car at all - (oops! sorry car! and i guess i was going a little fast for her majesties roads - tho there was no one else around on a dual carrageway)

    BUT

Whilst it is true no doubt the cerb is easily the faster car, as my mate glided past me at around (some silly speed i probably should put on a public forum), he looked scared to death, where as mine which was going (only a slightly less silly speed) was still well and truly planted on the road. When i spoke with him afterwards he could not believe how much better balanced the 350Z is than the cerb (mind you he needs 2 new front tyres)

also, the little things which i know would drive me nuts if it was my car. on 1 side you can barely put 2 fingers under the wheel arch, on the other side you can nearly get 4 fingers under. (apparently this is the norm)

the twin exhausts on the TVR are not quite straight

the boot lock sometimes has a paddy when shutting the boot.

all perfectly normal for tvr owning.

Now do not get me wrong, his cerb has been reliable for 3 years, but he still has to spend around 1.5k a year in sundries to keep it that way and his next service is gonna be a killer.

I still really love the cerbera, but i must say It seems a car which if i am honest would be too much of a handful for me. would be a matter of when i stacked it i think, not if.

Interestingly, my double glazing fitter was round last night just tweaking my new doors, turns out he has a 1998 lotus esprit 3.5l V8. He said if he needs to come back, so long as he does not need many tools with him he will bring that and take me for a spin.

  2. seriously, you cant blame a police officer for punishing for breaking the law

when someone smashes your car and robs your house do i expect you to just accept it and ask the police not to punish the criminal?

    good point, well made

i am trying to work out if Husky was being serious or sarcastic!.

i DO agree with the top line, BUT my experience with the police punishing crims has not been good, either with the scallies who vandalised my car and left a big juicy thumb print on the car OR the thief who robbed my ex and was raided with some of her stuff found in his house a few days later.

neither ended up being prosecuted due to lack of evidence.

Also iirc Tony Martin only actually went postal after being burgled, was it 6 times??? without action before going all Death Wish

  3. back in 2001 i got stopped doing 109.34 in my 1.4 8v 306. (it was down a long hill ;) - coming back from scotland in county Durham - cant remember road name but its famous for speeding apparently )

copper pulled me, put me in the back of his car, let me watch a video of me go past then asked me what my excuse was.

fair to say i filled my pants (figuratively)

I held my hands up, said it was a stupid speed and i had no excuse, there was no one around on a dual carrageway and i got a little excited. Was there any was i was gonna keep my licence?

The copper had tailed me for 5 miles in the distance and said at the end of the dual carrageway i was doing a slightly less wreckless 80 (on single carrageway mind you) and being that the road conditions were perfect and the road empty he was going to use his judgement and give me a 60 quid 3 points producer.

Its fair to say i thought that was more than fair. (i had a problem and nearly went to court anyway as dvla had lost my licence getting upgraded to photo ID but that is a rant for another thread)..

  4. My god!

for a car which is probably going to be more oil thirsty than the average, you would think they would come up with a better dipstick.

just did my 1st oil check and it took me a good couple of minutes trying to thread the bendy floppy thing back into its hole (story of my life ;) )

tell me they improved this on the face lift models??

  5. I got back into this after it gathered dust for some months......

And my reason for getting back to it....... Because it had a 350Z on it. :drive1

Shame you can only have the jap bumper on the back due to it being a fair lady, and the rev limiter lets the car rev higher than mine - i assume because it is a 2006+ car rather than the one i have (a 276bhp 2005 car) (tho the car claims to be a 2003 fairlady)

or am i missing another 350Z on there somewhere?

Suppose i cant moan too much, they were hardly gonna have 3 different 350Z's on it (or risk falling into the trap of having 600+ cars on it but they are all the bloomin same)

Cool driving around in *my* car tho, not been able to do that since the days of MSR on the dreamcast with both the Fiat coupe 20VT and the 306 hot hatch on it. :)

    cheers

    M.

  6. that sucks.....

will be interested to see what the parent says. i had some sods snap the spoiler on my old fiat coupe.

there were 3 kids drinking outside my mates house who had a reputation, following day snapped spoiler with a perfect thumb print on the top where they had weighed down and snapped it.

i phoned the police - not interested as not enough evidence :(

They even apologised off the record and told me they knew the lads and they had been done before but even if i had SEEN them they were only 17 so not much would be done (and i had not actually seen them do it)

go round the parents and all you do is get told to F' off and then make a target for yourself. a few weeks later my mates car at the same address got flour bombed and his bin set on fire.

    what can you do? :evil::bang:

Thing is, they are from a council supplied group of houses on the outskirts of a nice village**. Would be nice if the council could put pressure to evict tenants who constantly vandalise the area they live in if they get caught and stick em in a horrid group of flats full of others who do the same. at least it would be some deterrent and maybe force the parents to try to exercise some form of control.

** I know not all people from houses like that are bad, and i know a lot of kids from private homes are scrotes BUT ones which ARE from council housing, surely can be pressured fairly easily

  7. Hi

i have reverse parking sensors on my car.

i think they are aftermarket (the look bolted onto the side of the dash). The black box has no model number on that i can see (but what looks like a nissan logo sunk into the black plastic unit).

the closest i have seen is the dolphin DPS450.

This claims to come in 4 or do different blue colours for the sensors.

currently they match my car to a T. Currently they are faulty but the seller agreed to repair or replace them under warranty - i found out they were faulty before leaving his forecort.

Does anyone else have this unit, and can they confirm a standard colour matches the car properly? i do not want it to go for repair and come back with some ugly ass not matched properly fittings on the back.

OR could i be wrong and it IS a nissan part?

    cheers

    M..

ps as i said looks like the dolphin to me as seen here

  8. The coupe is gone.... long live the coupe

It is nice, no turbo kick but quicker across the range than the coupe. If am honest, would have liked it to be a touch quicker perhaps the 313bhp car would have been better (this is only 276bph) but that was out of my price bracket.

Still it sounds like a proper sports car now, 3.5l V6 engine with a nice popping exhaust when you give it a bit of right foot and it is really well planted to the road.

am skint now, 10K plus my old fiat but with only 29k on the clock with 12 months service and MOT am hoping for some maintanence free driving.

Parking sensors are bust and they are after market so cant go to nissan, but the seller is going to pay to fix or replace them for me.

    links to some pics here.

  9. well......

I am now officially a member of Zed Club :)

picked up the car this afternoon, then popped round Mitch's for a brew and buscuit before coming home.

    LOVE the car.

minor issue, the rear parking sensors are busted, and as it is not a nissan official one i cant take it there.

however Matt (Prestige Performance) came across as a nice chap and has told me to just take it to halfords or the like, get repaired or replaced if cant fix and he will cough up for it.

so all in all am happy.

was strangly sad driviing away without the coupe...... but that was soon forgotten once the Zed got warmed up ;)

Driving wise it feels more responsive than the coupe, the gears are nicer and just feels more like a sports car. The sound is amazing, i must admit would be nice if it was a little faster (maybe would have been better with the 313bhp car but its out of my price bracket) and i do miss the turbo kick a little, but that is a minor grope to what is all in all a great driving experience.

Bang for buck i still think the fiat coupe is tough to beat, but after owning one for 7 years the novelty had worn off.

    great stuff..... :)

  10. good to see i can still get a bit of flashign done if i get this car then ;)

i guess because the car is a little more popular than the fiat coupe you may end up with more dull rep types who do not understand car camaraderie so do not wave

  11. I always give a flash and a wave, even in the Mondeo which is probably when I get a WTF look back from the other Zed driver!!!

    LOL!

i do wonder how many coupe owners will get a random flash of an odd bloke in a 350Z over the next few months.

force of habit and all that!.

  12. OK so really sad question (although am sure busa1300 will know where i am coming from as he recently left the coupe fold!)

Sunday all being well i say goodbye to my fiat coupe and hello to a Zed.

One of the things i really enjoy is keeping half an eye out for other coupe owners and getting / recieving a flash (or an owners club flier under my wiper)

However, with only 7500 fiat coupes in UK i believe i guess i see more ferraris knocking about that coupes it seems sometimes.

So, is there any 350Z etiquette or will i just look like some sort of ijit if i go round flashing other Zeds?

right.... i shall never admit to asking this question ever again :teeth::blush:

  13. Xbox FM3 fan here too, on the wheel it is superb! LOVE it (but if you truly think FM3 or Granturismo is a racing sim you need to think again.

Try iracing on PC or Rfactor - also on PC.

i am ok at FM3 but cant even complete a competitive with other cars on track lap in anything remotely difficuly to drive on those 2 games. (way too tough for me)

GT5 was the game which MAY have turned me back to the sony side, but then i found out that the car damage is only going to be on certain cars (yay a racing "sim" where you can still use other cars at 150mph as brakes without punishment) and the big killer for me

The one massive lacking part of FM3 is lack of weather, and GT5 was promised to fix that...... except they could not get weather running properly on the ps3 so it has been dropped.

sure if you want 20 different variants of the same car to knock up the numbers to some insane (irrelavent?) number GT5 is the game to get.

but from what i can tell it will be 3 years too late and from the looks of it offer little over FM3 (aside from the fiat coupe which sad as it sounds would have been a plus point).

i truly hope i am wrong, i really want an excuse to get a ps3 - the logitech wheel on the playstation spanks the xbox wireless racing wheel (and i refuse to pay $$$ for the fanatec one) AND there are 1 or 2 exclusve games on the ps3 now i would not mind having a go of, but for me, GT5 would have been the seller........ (but 2 years ago!)

  14. sounds like better off without him :)

FYI my mates GF did say she would not marry him if he bought a TVR Tuscan (not sure why, they are perfectly safe on the back of a lorry going to the garage ;) )

the reason was not jealousy but just because he is an agressive driver and she did not want to be burying him (or someone else) in such a quick car.

They have gotten a little older now, so he is allowed one when they move to a bigger house (quality bribary if you ask me ;) )
