  1. Matt,

    1) Costs about £80 to fill on V-Power. Going short journeys around town (c.21mpg) I get about 320 miles/tank.

    2) Gentle motorway cruising will get you 30-32 mpg.

    3) Service interval is 9,000 miles and the services are: P1 (minor), P2 (intermediate), P1, P3 (major), etcI'm having a P3 service done next week by an indy which will be c.£300. Main dealer quoted me £500.

    4) Tax should be £245 p.a.

Have only done about 5,000 miles in mine so far so can't comment on tyres, but there are lots of guys on here who can magic up pretty much anything you need in terms of service items, parts, repair kits (such as for a clicking rear axle) and upgrades!

    HTH,

    Alex

  2. Thanks for your support Adrian - can I come and kip on your sofa?!

Waiting for Motordyne to get back to Mark @ Abbey with prices for a Gamma/XYZ and will decide then. The one thing that put me off the Milltek was that the Y-pipe is 60mm (2.36") which is an improvement over standard but the Berk HFCs are 2.5". AFAIK, the Motordyne and Nismo are 2.5" and the Blitz is 2.75".

As any man knows, every fraction of an inch is vital...

  3. I quite like the ProRacer SP, but they're about £1,600 :scare: (coincidentally I think that may be what Sarah has fitted to her car) but I'm really worried about picking an exhaust that's going to be too loud for an everyday car - expecially as I've got HFCs fitted.

I think my options are pretty much limited to either a Nismo, Motordyne Gamma (still going to be loud) or Milltek. Shame really, I quite like the idea of a Blitz Nur Spec T...

  4. Just curious: what's the approx. price for a Nismo cat back system now? Trying to decide between Milltek and Nismo and would be interested to find out the price differential.

    Cheers,

    Alex

  5. Sarah (Chilli Red) did me a good price on a pair of Berk HFCs recently and she was a pleasure to deal with.

The HFCs have made the car a fair bit louder and a little more aggressive-sounding. TBH, I'm tempted to just fit a larger-diameter Y-pipe and keep the stock exhaust because it sounds fantastic!

  6. Brake pads with SS lines and upgraded fluid is a good improvement too.

Stew - Apologies for the slight hijack, but is there a concensus on which pads are the best? I've got no intention of tracking my car (but the road to hell is paved with good intentions!) so need some road pads (for Brembos) - any suggestions?

  7. Motor insurance has always been a 'loss leader' for insurance companies. They sell it because it gives them the chance to quote for your household insurances, pet insurance, etc, etc on which they could make money. Also, they generally offer an monthly payment option, which is interest-bearing: they can make money here too.

However, this has been very cheap for along time, and insurers can't keep on posting big losses from their motor insurance if they're not recouping enough money on other insurances. I'll bet that they've all paid out a ton of money after all the snow and ice at the beginning of the year too.

  8. HFCs plus a Nismo sets off car alarms.

Sounds like a challenge to me: how many can I set off on my way to work?! Waiting for Abbey to get a price from Motordyne for a Gamma catback and XYZ, but might go for a Nismo depending on price...

  9. Had Berk HFCs fitted a couple of weeks ago (car sounds excellent now), and I've noticed that when I'm coasting I can hear a rattling noise that wasn't there before they were fitted. I'm useless at descriptions, but the rattling sounds like it's coming from very small pieces moving quickly, as opposed to a clattering from larger pieces moving slowly.

Is this normal? Do cats need to settle?

    Thanks in advance, Alex

  10. Paul,

Are you still looking for a set? I had Berk HFCs put on my car a week ago, so have a pair of OEM cats in a box if you're interested.

  11. OP: Did you get this sorted?

When I bought my Zed I went through the process of getting a quote from NU so that I could get 7 days' free cover. The nice lady on the phone was very surprised when I wasn't interested in buying an annual policy with them - probably had something to do with them being 105% more expensive than my existing insurers!

NB: Adrian Flux issue policy docs by email.
