  1. What about one of them Phaeton's (sp?), pretty uncommon and I would say probably very luxurious, most of the big, quality diesel cars are German, so Audi must feature in your choice.

Not sure on the Phaeton, as for audi, I guess a A5 s line coupe is a possibility along with the TT tdi even if a bit hairdresser!

The c class coupe is nice as well. If your budget allows the new 6 coupe is gorgeous

If economy wasn't an issue I would recommend the Infiniti g37 as a luxury coupe

Not convinced on the new c class coupe, just checked out the new 6 series coupe B) .....n wow does that looks amazing :cloud9: .....40k for the cheapest is over budget, could be the car after next thou :)

  2. After selling zed to a fellow member on here well over a year ago its time for me to look for my next 'nice' car.

Unfortunately its not economical for me to get a big engined petrol, if it was my decision would be easy, either a 370z or save a bit more and get a gt-r :) So ideally I'm looking for an auto diesel....

A couple of years ago I was really tempted by a clk 320 cdi sport but their starting to look a little dated now so 90% decided on the e class coupe (2010+ plate), for some reason I seem to have it in my head that the clk is better built.....!

Other options could be 3 series coupe 330/335 diesel...being fairly common motor is a neg.

Anyone with experience of any of the mentioned above or thoughts about similar types...

  3. Unwanted upgrade

  4. Now Sold, new owner picked it up earlier today so kinda a sad day but glad it'l remain in the forum, I'm sure the new owner will be along shortly to introduce himself.

Thanks to everyone on here, fantastic place, one of the most friendliest and helpful forums I've been on, i'l still be lurking around, hopefully a 370z owner one day

  5. Hi,

Looks like a nice car. It's a long way for me to travel to take a look so was wondering if you would mind answering a few questions, namely:

Is it mechanically sound enough? I've been reading the forums and gettiing paranoid about clicking rear axles, clutches etc., so was wondering what it drives like or whether you felt that there are any parts that would likely need renewing before too long?

Are there any issues with rust?

What condition are the tyres in?

Are there any electrical issues such as windows not working etc.?

Is there any chance of some pictures of the front alloys and bumper that you refered to in your ad and maybe a couple of the engine bay and boot (I've got a thing about boots - no idea why)?

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to try and get a better picture before I consider setting off for Preston.

    Hi Invame

Totally understand mate, always best to get as much information as possible especially if its a distance to travel :)

Mechanically its sound, no clicky axle issues, clutch feels fine no issues here either.

No rust issues, the only issue was with the bonnet (common prob) but i guess i've been lucky as Nissan replaced this under warranty, no other rust on the body work, in fact its in very good condition.

Tyres are all about 5mm mark, however they are all budget tyres and the zed would benefit from a better quality of tyre (as discussed on the forum many times), I've been looking forward to changing these for a while but couldn't bring myself to bin the budgets when theirs loads a tread left. So to answer your question, the tyres are next on the list to be renewed.

No problems with the windows, and everything else electrically works as it should including the air con

I will get some detailed pictures of the wheels/boot/engine/body close ups etc uploaded this weekend

Any other questions give me a shout, if its easier I can pm you my contact number to discuss further.

    Thanks

    Saty

  7. Looking to sell my beloved zed, soon to be getting a company car so the zed requires a new home

Ownership for me personally has been immense, this is the best car I have ever owned, power, looks, sound, value I could go on! It goes without saying I am a car enthusiast and like to look after my cars, the zed is certainly no exception, I often wash/wax/clay the paintwork and only every fill up using Shell V-Power fuel. The private plate will be removed prior to sale. I have a folder full of paperwork, all previous mot's and service receipts, it comes with 3 keys (2 of which are unused).

    • 48k P1 (Dec 2010) Nissan Chorley Preston

    • 54k P2 (Dec 2011) Nissan Chorley Preston

Additionally, I've had the following work carried out (R=receipt present):

    • Bonnet replaced with brand new under warranty, supplied and fitted by Chorley Nissan Preston R (Feb 2012) R - viewtopic.php?f=9&t=57809

    • Denso Iridium Spark Plugs (Oct 2011) Supplied by Zamanalex

    • All 4 Discs & Pads replaced (Oct 2011) R

    • Front ARB links replaced with genuine Nissan parts (Oct 2011) R

    • Alt & Air Con belts replaced with Gates belts (Jun 2011) R

    • Exhaust replaced with a newer used genuine nissan (Jun 2011)

I've also made the following mods:

    • Kenwood DNX7200 - includes Sat Nav, Bluetooth, iPod/Iphone connectivity, DVD/MP3/WMA playback, steering wheel controls

    • Reversing Camera - looks like this one viewtopic.php?f=27&t=58783

    • Stubby aerial

    • Aero wipers

    • LED rear numberplate bulbs

    • Silvervision Chrome indicator bulbs (link for pics)

    Bad Points

    • Stone chips to front bumper

    • Alloys could do with a refurb, curbing to fronts.

I honestly believe if the above 2 bad points were rectified this would be one of the cleanest 2003 around, the new owner will not be disappointed. The Kenwood system paired with the GT Spec offers all the mod cons you could wish for and I know for a fact my new motor won't be this loaded.

  8. I have a few spots on my 04 too, but I'm only after buying the car so not original owner, do you think I should have any extra problems trying to make a claim?

I'm not the original owner either so that shouldn't make a difference. I guess it all boils down to how good your local Nissan dealer is, the one I used is Chorley Nissan in Preston, they have branches throughout the north west are generally well regarded.

    Good luck!

  9. Apologies on the delayed update on this, been working away over the last couple of week! Anyways gave the zed a good clean on friday, here's some pics including the new bonnet courtesy of nissan :)

  10. Cheers guys, knew you would be all made up  certainly was a result I wasn't expecting :D

Spoke to the bodyshop people earlier and asked them to give me a quote on the front bumper too (may as well make the zed perfect :drive1 ), they said they'l give me a call on monday with a quote, can anyone give me a clue as to how much I should be expecting?

Good result indeed...but just one question, isn't the bonnet alloy rather than steel,so the problem was alloy corrosion not rust?

Yes, from what I've read on here the bonnet is alloy

  11. Couple of months ago when detailing the zed I noticed a small (>5p sized) bit of bubbling on the front bonnet just above the nissan badge, remembered reading on here about the 12 year Perforation Warranty, my zed it a 2003 so not exactly a young gun however still within the warranty period.

Booked the zed in with Chorley Nissan (Preston) for its annual service in Dec and upon picking I mentioned this to them then, as it was dark they advised to come during the day so that they could take some pictures and send to Nissan HQ.

So last week I popped in, one of the service guys (really helpful guy) came out took some pics, initially he said Nissan would try and reject the claim and blame stone chips, however, popped the bonnet and it was clear as day that the corrosion was coming from underneath, the guy took loads of pics and advised its up to HQ to decide and I willl get a call back...

Just got off the phone, they have a brand new bonnet for me which will be sprayed and fitted next week :yahoo:

Can honestly say, the service I receive from Chorley Nissan (Preston) has been 1st class, service prices aren't bad either ;)

zed's currently at the body shop, will post more pics when she returns home :) in the mean time im cruising automatic nissan note B) not!

Update: Zed is home, after pics below

  12. Would never buy a phone on eBay, never know the condition it's in and it can be a right faff to get your money back even with Paypal.

Best place I use for buying electrical items is AVForums. Loads of iPhones for sale, cheaper than eBay and they'll be in the condition they're stated. Bought 2 iPhone 4's from there in the past, both been great. That's on top of a TV, selling a Mac Pro and loads of other things, nice community on there!

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/iphone-c ... d-adverts/

Oh and there's a difference between jailbroken and unlocked. Jailbroken just allows non-App Store apps on the iPhone via things like Cydia. Unlocked means its unlocked to all networks. Don't go buying an iPhone that just states "JB" and expect it to work with all networks!

thanks for the info Toms, will check out avforums

re: jb&unlocked, never fancied a jb, looking for either unlocked or on tmobile

  13. Iv one brand new but would need unlocked ( was going to do it myself next week ) , Not to sure what the value is but going from the prices above id say £350 unlocked ?

how would you unlock the phone? Jailbreak? Also what colour is it in?

Yeah as long as it hasnt changed too much from a month or so back i can unlock it via jailbreak. Its a black one.

not too keen on a jailbroken one, can it be factory unlocked via your network provider?
