  1. Temp fix is Talcum powder if it's the belts.

    If it's the mouse, then leave a piece of cheese next to the Zed overnight, might cure it

    Not so much tempory fix but more hide the problem because the talcum powder allows the belt to slip quietly by lubricating the pulley's...so you dont hear (or get the warning) the belts slipping. Anyways by the time you got the talc out you'd be half way to retensioning them.

  2. Its the belts for sure, quite normal..if they are getting old replace them..(easy job) or simply tighten them up (very easy job). Often its because the alternator is having to work a bit harder this time of year (lights, rear screen etc) requiring a bit more tension on the drive belt to drive it. New belts are only about £20 a pair and it takes less than an hour to replace and tension them. I would be very surprised if it was anything else...good luck

  3. I agree its a common issue, my thoughts as to the reason are that the the size of the brake shoes that are actually on the inside of the rear discs are very small coupled with the fact that the 'drum' diameter is small... effectively the hub of the disc. so small drum, small shoes = poor handbrake, on the plus side the discs a great though!

  4. Ok so maybe the clutch on a Zed is heavy compared to say a ..Golf..whatever but against a MGB..its light or any 1920's cars is feather light ..come to that compared to any 1970's cars its light and 1980's come on its what it is. how about the steeing is that a bit heavy too....oh the door handle and the brakes they can be heavy as well. BTW I dont remember the Bentley Boys complaining about the clutch being a bit heavy!!!!

    Corn flakes for breakfast maybe ...hey ho :clap:

  5. could be the starter motor is a bit sticky, which is giving you the grinding noise.

    i would personally but one from alex as you will be 100% sure that it is gonna fit!! and if there were any issues he is alwyas gonna be on here to help you!

    :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::pmzmanalex:

  6. Okay so for the oil to reach normal operating temperature you'll be looking at 10-15 miles or 20 minutes driving...at least. BUT taking the engine over 3000rpm well I'd say after a minute or so, on the otherhand taking it upto to the rev limit well wait till the oils warmed up but in reality common sense...thrash it when cold and it wont last so long treat it like a lady at it will go on and on. What I would say is dont start it up and thrash it off when cold simple.

  7. I couldn't hear the pump from inside the car too but it turned out the be the NRV (non return valve) under the brake master cylinder etc cover...I simply removed the NRV to get them working and fitted a joining barb...still haven't replaced it yet as the jets work fine and dont drain back....So try the NRV as its easy to change / remove and will cost nill...if no luck maybe the pump...Good luck

  8. SOLD SOLD PLEASE REMOVE SOLD SOLD

    350z ventalated discs for sale. For NON Brembo 350z ie the Japanese imports. Purchased in error due to finger trouble on ebay. They are new and perfect just wont fit my Zed with Brembo's. Any offer considered as they are taking up space....the only issue is I cant be bothered to post so its pick up only from Sawston near Cambridge. Don't be afraid to make an offer as they are taking up space. Thank you.

  9. The brushes get stuck in the holder so you shouldn't need to replace them just fettle so they are a sliding fit. They are only carbon so real soft. ...IF they happen to be worn out ( Doubt it) its easy to file up new ones from say a hoover or dyson motor WHY...

  10. Yep its stuck brushes..again

    If you can bring them to me I'll do it......for free, but I am just South of Cambridge near Duxford. Or the next best option for sure is to buy a couple from zmanalex..he ships real quick. In fact the hard part is removing the fan motors so if you can get them off you aught to be able to prise the motors apart and give the brushes a quick file up....sorry thats the best I can offer.

  11. Just to say ..the Zed is NOT that expensive to run...very easy to service yourself ( saving many £££)....fuel economy depending on how you use it is 20-30mpg... (find a simular performance car that will do that!) and they are real good value secondhand. IMHO they are not so expensive at all especially when they give so much fun. The other thing is most people who dont know so much about cars seem to think the Zed is expensive in every way.

  12. I have experience of cheap budget tyres causing droning very simular to wheel bearing noise....I was convinced it was a wheel bearing till the tyres were changed and the noise gone..on another occassion and car I have experienced wheel shake very sumular to a out of balance issue, but again it was due to tyres...so your issue could easily be down to tyres. :thumbs:

  13. Yep they are all the same..just pry where they are peened and the end comes off to expose the armature and commutator etc... trust me its easy and free or spend £200 if you prefer either way the fam motors have to come off
