  1. I know this has been said many times on here recently but I feel the need for a rant so I'm going for it... Just got my renewal quote from Direct Line at 1650 quid which has more than doubled from what I paid last year (750). I just find it unbelievable that a 29 year old professional with 10 years no claims that have been mainly earned driving performance cars has to pay so much! I've done the usual comparison sites tonight and the cheapest I can get is 1400 with Admiral! I've got a few weeks yet so will have to ring around the old fashioned way but I'm pi$$ed off. It's getting to the stage where I'm going to just plainly refuse to pay these stupid premiums out of principle which ultimately means getting rid of the zed and losing out on the experience of owning such a fantastic car
  2. I came from a celica 190 to the zed and as much as I loved the celica's manic engine the zed is on a completely different level to the celica in every way. I've had mine for about 12 months and love it more by the day. Also to be fair the car you drove sounds like a dog and mixing tyres on a zed isn't a good idea especially cheapos, keep looking and you will find the right one.
  3. Great car and great pics, well done both
  4. I love my zed but if I could afford the porker that would be on my drive.simples!
  5. I'd take all 4 but would take the rears if the fronts are gone! Pm sent
  6. I'd take all 4 but would take the rears if the fronts are gone! Pm sent
  7. If they're oe locking nuts Nissan have masters and will take the old ones off for you and try and sell you some new ones, you can always go elsewhere once they've been removed though.
  8. If ZMANALEX or R35LEE can't sort you out I picked up a rad fan assembly from Douglas valley breakers last week. Not sure if they had anymore but it did the trick for me. I also got an email back from Hills-motors.co.uk saying they had one in stock. Prices varied though so best ring round a few.
  9. Really? They were great for me, I paid for 2 rad fan motors and they sent me the full fan pack all for 130 quid, Nissan wanted 340 for each motor! Maybe I was lucky!
  10. Hi Guys, Just wanted to let you know that I managed to sort the overheating problem on my Zed. It was the fan motors as initially thought. I managed to source some used motors from Douglas Valley breakers in Lancashire and fitted them this morning. They seem to have done the trick. I would like say thanks to Zmanalex for his support and advice with the problem, he was a great help Can't wait to take it for a spin now
  11. mine dies that too sometimes, I believe it's common. Try holding the lead tought when loading the cassette, seems to do the trick on mine. Also try and hold it slightly higher than the cassette deck until it settles on side 1.
  12. Cheers Alex, I'll pm you my email address.
  13. Hi Guys, I'd like to have your opinions on the following: I was sat in traffic yesterday and noticed that my temp gauge was higher than normal so I pulled over to check the coolant level, which was fine. I then set off again and the temp came came back down to normal once I was moving again. I then got stuck in more traffic and the temp started to rise again and once again returned to normal when I got going. When I got home I ran the car for a little while to see if the fans where kicking in and neither of which did. I then took my car in to Lockwood & Greenwood in Manchester on my way to work this morning to have it checked out. To cut a long story short L&G checked the the coolant system, checked the fan wiring circuit and fuses and didn't find any problems. They have said that the fan motors aren't working but will turn over manually but not when powered and that I would need a new fan pack at circa 900 quid What do you guys think? Has anyone had to replace this before? It's not that I don't trust L&G as I've had good experiences with them before but would just like a 2nd opinion. Does anybody else think it's a bit strange that both motors have gone? I've been to see my mechanic mate on the way home tonight who's said we can sort it together maybe with motors from a scrappy but he's off to France for a fortnight now so I'll have to run around in the missus fiesta for the time being. Cheers Andy
  14. Nice motor, always liked the ZX. Great stoppers too! by the way
  15. Cheers for that GT4 ZED it's good to know for next time
  16. I'd never used a clay bar before but after reading about 'em on here I though I'd give it a go. It was going well until the spray pump on the lube decided not to work which meant another trip to Halfords luckilly my missus was in so I could take her car but it would have been a real bitch if I would have had to take the zed out part clayed!
  17. Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Just gotta keep on top of it and hope for a good summer!
  18. Hi Guys, I've been meaning to put some pics on since buying the zed last November so here it is after a marathon cleaning session. The cars completely standard at present but will gain a few tasteful mods this summer. I gave it the usual two bucket treatment and clay bar but I've never really been into detailing so this is the first time I've spent a long time cleaning a car- 6 hours in total. Oh and then it pi**ed it down. hey ho. Not so sure on the rules here for images so here's a link to my photobucket: http://s1041.photobucket.com/home/as2bsc/set/4378
  19. Nice one, can't fault it, just spoke to ma bro n he's gonna book his celica in now, just shows where customer service gets you- proof that it still matters!
  20. Hi folks, After reading some good reviews on here I booked my 5 year old zed (new to me) in for it's first P3 at Lockwood and Greenwood in Manchester. I'm chuffed to bits to find a local garage who know their market and understand customer service. I called up yesterday and they fitted me in today and even gave me the discounted rate for being a member here- bonus! I really can't recommend these guys enough if you live in and around the North West. They even asked me for permission before they washed the car and have done a great job of it too. Top effort all round. Oh and the price- 220 all in saving me the 150 on what Westway quoted! Result
  21. I think they look great- My missus has been looking at em, I'd still rather take the Zed though!
  22. Has to be Azure for me, only had mine a fortnight and love it
  23. Yeh it is, I was a bit wary of buying from AC as I've heard a few bad reports but I got the car checked over and it's mint. The bloke who had it hardly used it and I was told he was a bit older than the average Zed driver, he px'ed it for a Lexus. The car so far seems mint but the same can't be said for AC's customer service, I wouldn't recommend! Well I think you are buying the car and not the dealer so who cares!! Thats was a bargain price! Did you manage to negotiate any more off? I noticed they were doing £300 off vouchers too. If I had sold my car I would have gone for that at the given price! Only problem is now I've seen a car that can be sold at that price every other car I have seen seems unattractive at the asking price! I noticed the £300 voucher so I managed to get that off the price but they wouldn't negotiate any further, some more off would have been nice but I was just happy to find a tidy one at a good price so I snapped their hands off really. If I believe what the dealer said it was quite a popular car and it attracted loads of attention. I only managed to secure it after another guys finance request failed and they had only had it a week at this point so I'm gussing they were right. If you keep looking the right one will come along but I was looking for a good one for months before this came up. I reckon they have appreciated in value in the last 6 months which made it even harder to find as I was unwilling to splurge cash on a car that was worth less 6 months ago! Anyway good look with your search, the car is definitely worth it. I'm always on Autotrader so If I spot any more good deals I'll PM you.
