  1. Sound oil (SOU): http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail? ... mary&it=le I am in SOU, and if I was to say anything it would be to have patience and time your entry right. SOU have a long way to go and I see this more long term. Just be aware that there is a presentation being held soon (cant remember when) which may cause the price to shift a little depending on its content. Also, if you look at the discussion board's on iii then dont get sucked in by the constant ramping on there - "buy buy buy, this will soar tomorrow" etc etc. Is anyone else in MXP?
  2. Still for sale - a couple more photos of the interior that I have been meaning to do for a while now:
  3. Sorry Woody, didnt see you mate. Was on way to Halfords to get some kit to remove the scratches from the plastic switch panel - well happy with the result!
  4. I dont know if I could sell it to you Al, it will be bad enough watching someone else drive it away never mind having you overtake me in my home town on a regular basis! If you have any luck with the R8 then give me a shout
  5. yes thats the one thanks, I just wanted it available again - all I edited was the title to REDUCED without getting as far as reducing the price or adding any info. Thought it would be looked upon as a little shady by trying to attract attention without actually reducing the price. Sorry for the hassle, will edit it correctly now.
  6. Please ignore my recently edited for sale post - as you can probably tell I submitted the post before I was finished editing. Thanks
  7. I have not used SEM but when I was looking at getting mine refurbed I researched them thoroughly and found nothing but excellent reports, with people travelling from all over to use them. In the end I didnt get them done as im "supposed" to be selling the car so dont really be wanting to spend any more money on it but if I do I will defo be using SEM. Another option is to get hold of a spare set of wheels to use during the refurb................ I just so happen to have some for sale if your interested and Im only down the road in Hpool.
  8. approx £150 for a P1 at a main dealer........ although that is from the same dealer that charged me £350 for a P3! £253??! I'm going to have a look and see if I can find any receipts for my P3 as they must have included something else. Surely?
  9. Correction; the last service was a P1 service, the one prior to that was the major P3 service. So there will be a couple of services before the major service comes round again. Another pic I have just found on this computer:
  10. Thanks for the comments. Ak350z, no they are veilside skirts; post edited to include other common sense stuff that I should have included to start with, such as the location of the car! Trying to write an ad with the worlds worst hangover isn't easy!
  11. As I am moving house next year I have been toying with the idea of selling for a while, I did put it on autotrader a couple of months ago but only got a few time wasters. Since then I have changed my mind more times than I care to remember. I love the car but it makes financial sense to sell it. So here goes..... Stunning Red 53 reg UK GT complete with Rays. 42000 miles with full main dealer service history. (serviced annually due to low use / mileage). Vredestein tyres all around, with the rears being fitted less than 1000 miles ago. The fronts have approx 5mm tread. I had the clutch replaced at 36000 miles with an exedy clutch. Its last service was last month (P2) the advisories were as follows: Centre and rear exhaust sections corroded and leaking. Front brake pads approaching 80% worn. As a result of this I replaced the full exhaust with a brand new stainless K2 exhaust. (Looks like OEM, sounds slightly deeper, not louder). The front bumper has a few stone chips as per all zeds but the bonnet only has 1 chip (it did have none until yesterday ) as the bonnet has recently been resprayed to rid it of of few major chips. The work was done by Sunderland Car & Bike Magic who come highly recommended on this forum and do colour matching for the local Nissan dealers. I also had the side skirts (Genuine Veilside V3 FRP skirts) resprayed so they are now immaculate with no scratches, again by Car and Bike Magic. The rest of the bodywork is in fantastic condition. in fact considering the age of the car it is in amazing condition. The alloys have slight bubbling on one and some curbing. I do however have a full set of standard 18" OEM Alloys included in the sale which can be used if you choose to have the Rays refurbished. There is 10 months MOT and 6 months tax remaining. As you can see from the pics the red is a stunning colour and for some reason a rare colour. I am not interested in P/X. The car is mainly at home in North East England, but as I work on the West coast of Scotland just North of Glasgow then a viewing there could be arranged too. Thanks for looking. Nick. More photos to follow. Reduced to £8150
  12. I have a set, a couple of scuffs, nothing major. Have bridgestones on but 2 only just legal and 2 not. I'm up in the north east tho, so unsure how much would cost to be couriered down. Pm me if I interested
  13. I would disagree about only the water moving. for sake of argument replace the water with a higher viscosity liquid and replace the tarmac with ice - the car would then move. Newtons 3rd law - every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Obviously this is an extreme to illustrate a point but I think water and tarmac at speed would affect a car. I agree with the rest though. rtbiscuit - I 100% agree, I leave it to the experts and go by the reviews, it is just my naturally inquisitive nature and engineering background that makes me want to know how everything works! Its a curse!
  14. my head is now hurting. That would mean that other symmetrical tread patterns would result in unstable handling , which surely cant be right.... can it??! Ive got to say though, that in the snow I have felt that drift to one side too, but in all honesty I didnt think about it until now. Ignorance is bliss I suppose. I cant remember the exact pressure but 35 psi rings a bell to me. Its on the inside of your door shut.
  15. rtbiscuit - I'm a bit confused with your post - what you are explaining is exactly what I would expect in the wet. If you look at the tyre and think about which part of each groove hits the tarmac first then they are channelling the water in the same direction resulting in a diagonal force on the car. It seems many forums have discussed it and no one has found out how it works. It frustrates the hell out of me!
  16. They are defo fitted the right way, and that is as in the pic above, I just like to know how things work and it is bugging me that this tread pattern doesnt make sense.
  17. A friend of mine asked me for a recommendation on a tyre for his car and so I recommended the ultrac sessantas which he then went and bought. Today he asked me to have a look at his car as he thought the tyres were fitted incorrectly. We compared them to my car but they were both the same - and I have to admit it looked wrong but I had never noticed. They are fitted like this: I have had a search about on the web and it seems this issue has come up quite a lot in the past on other forums with the final answer (from Vredestein) confirming they are fitted correctly. My question is how is this correct??!! Obviously the engineers and designers know what they are doing, and the tyre performs excellently (I will be buying them again) but I just cant see how they work. To me (and many others it seems) it looks like both tyres would channel water in the same direction with the tyre on the right as shown above, channelling the water into the middle of the car and the tyre on the left channelling the water away from the car - thus surely producing a force in one direction? Has anybody got any thoughts theories or facts regarding this? (Just to be clear - I am not questioning the design - I am questioning simply how it works)
  18. its on the back of the key mate
  19. I recently bought the wrong type of key from a seller on ebay - Siemens VDO 5WK4 876 433MHZ so if that is of any use to you give me a shout. Incidentally if anyone has a 5WK4 818 they want to sell give me a shout
  20. Martin, a couple of things as I wasn't there when you picked it up; The holes are the outer ones used by the oem spoiler - I'd defo use the holes as the tape was easy to remove - it was the glue that was a t*@t. I certainly wouldnt feel confident with just tape. Also for the clear coat on the CF I would get hold of some marine clear coat restorer as the oxidation will return after a while. I was using Maguire's scratch x which keeps it away for a while but does return. Finally, take the counterweight out of the boot lid - there is a guide on here somewhere I think - I lost count of the times the boot closed on my nut before doing that
  21. Yes, I've trained there occasionally. I train MMA and fight for DNFT at the D-unit, but as the unit, Lanark MMA and the grip all come under DNFT then Ive had a few team spars at the grip - excellent coaches and excellent facilities ..... the fighters arent too bad either
  22. Initially I was going to refrain from replying as given the responses I got I suspect I may be wasting my time. Boredom on a Sunday morning however led me to search online for effective wing chun techniques, particularly wing chun full contact fights and all it has done is reaffirm by beliefs and in a couple of cases led me to laugh out loud ("wing chun - anti grappling" from someone who has trained in wrestling is very amusing to say the least). To really test any martial art it needs to be tested in a full contact environment (hence my earlier reference to MMA - I still do not see how the comparison is "simply ludicrous") yet in every video I have seen this morning each practitioner enters throwing a flurry of extremely fast pretty powerless punches then commits to swinging like 2 drunk 10 year olds. The only techniques I have seen that have been effective have been clinching (done poorly - learn muay thai to do this correctly), wild hooks (again done poorly - learn boxing or muay thai to punch correctly) and in one video one of the sloppiest and most poorly defended double leg takedowns I have seen (learn wrestling to take someone to the floor and wrestling to defend - and FYI the only way to "anti grapple" is to grapple). The point I am getting at is that in a restricted environment such as controlled sparring (no takedowns / grappling / less power /less speed or whatever rules you may have in force) wing chun and other traditional martial arts may look effective, but throw the same person into a full contact fight and naturally the person will respond utilising the most effective method available. Unfortunately this is very rarely what you will find taught in an traditional martial art. It is a shame and perhaps understandable that many martial artists find it hard to believe that after years of training their methods are not the most effective in a real life combat situation. Perhaps if people widened their gaze a little they could actually improve their martial art rather than blindly following what their instructor has told them will work. Can I also just state that I am not a trained wrestler as my posts suggest. I simply train aspects of it alongside many other combat sports to improve my all round game as I would be naive and stupid to think one sport / art would give me everything I need to fight effectively. Maz0 - I guess you train thai and notice you are from Glasgow - do you train at the grip by any chance?
  23. At the risk of possibly upsetting a couple of people..... If as you say you want something that is about self defence you are wasting your time. The fitness and well being, I have no doubt you will get from wing tsun, but self defence you will not get. Something that really annoys me is traditional martial arts preaching they are good for self defence, convincing susceptible people that they are investing time and money in something that will be effective should an aggressor attack. The early UFCs were a huge wake up call to many martial artists as it was possible to see effective techniques and those not so effective. UFC 5 in particular saw wrestler Dave Beneteau v Wing Chun Master asbel Cancio; the fight lasted approx 30 seconds with Cancio being brutally beaten (the fight is on youtube if anyone is interested titled "Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) In MMA" - thought it not appropriate to link it). There are plenty more examples like this. The reason I use the example of the UFC is because MMA (mixed martial arts - sometimes referred to as cage fighting) is the closest thing we have in combat sports which resembles a street fight. Therefore if something works in MMA against a trained athlete then you can be sure it works on the street against your average drugged up idiot. Incidentally it is widely regarded that the best base for any MMA fighter is wrestling. It is also the most physically hard sport I have trained and competed in. This is not me saying MMA or wrestling is "better" than any other combat sport / martial art, you will get something different from them all - it just depends on what your priorities are. If the well being that you mention is more important than self defence then carry on. If the confidence knowing you are learning something that would be effective in self defence outweighs the spiritual aspect you may gain from another martial arts then get yourself down to your local MMA / wrestling / muai thai / BJJ club. I'll be happy to point you in the direction of a reputable place near to you. Again if the wing chun way of life as mentioned above is what you are looking for then please forgive my mini rant!
  24. Please dont encourage me..... Im supposed to be selling it but keep spending money on it! To be honest, i was never too sure of the spoiler from the back - I always thought it was too wide for the "non - widearch" car, it was only certain angles I really liked it. Ive always liked the look of a "standard" Zed from behind though. I was just never really 100% convinced, it just took someone on here asking for one for me to do anything about it.
