  1. Brilliant, exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks very much!
  2. Hi all, it has been a long time since I posted here, I had a 350 back in about 2009 and have been through a dozen cars since before buying a 370 last week. A stunning car and great fun! (image below at the car valet yesterday) The car is really clean aside from 2 small stone chips which I am going to get sorted, however the wing mirror mounts have faded and look pretty crap. Does anybody know if there are any after market ones available please? I imagine buying from Nissan will be super expensive so looking for another option. TIA, Nick
  3. Sorry am being thick, where is the for sale section please?
  4. Hi all, been a while since I posted here as I went off to RX8 land Now I have realised the error of my ways and am looking for a Z again. I would ideally like an Auto (my missus wont drive a manual) with decent miles on it although I would take a newer Manual if I cannot find the right auto, I would prefer it to not be black and would like leather I have a budget of about £10k but am happy to spend less. I know you guys stay in touch, is anybody aware of a good Z currently on the market? I have scoured Ebay and Autotrader and cannot find anything suitable in Auto and although there are plenty of manuals to choose from I want to exhaust all avenues first. Thanks in advance guys Nick
  5. Just got back after 3 weeks away and as is normal with my 350 the battery was completely dead, and this battery is brand new. Managed to jump it but left me with the engine light on and a code P0340 CMP (Cam Shaft Position) Sensor (Phase). Anybody have any clues to shed some light on this, means nothing to me. Thanks in advance
  6. 'my personal view, you got caught you take your punishment, if you can't do the time; don't do the crime' Strange comment, I didnt moan about picking up a ticket, I am more than prepared to take whatever they throw at me, truth is I have been very very lucky to make it 10 years since the last one given the cars I have had and knew this was inevitable sooner or later. Just mentioned it to see if anybody had any experience with that constabulary so I can brace myself for worst case scenario.
  7. Just had a NIP come for driving on the A303 nr Wiltshire, apparently 96mph in a Z is too fast. I thought I got it down lower than that but I guess I spotted him too late. I guess I should think myself lucky, if he had seen me 10 mins before it could be a ban on the way. Also this is the 1st fine in 10 years so not the worst. Anyone have any experience of what to expect, I have read a little and see that the cut off for a fixed penalty is 95 and saw some horror stories of people being fined in excess of £750 with costs for 96 in that county.
  8. Thanks for the thoughts Andy, I personally changed the battery about a month ago so there is a brand new one on there so should not be that, I think this is more electrics related.
  9. Hi guys I have had a 2003 Z since May of last year. Soon after buying the car I noticed that when cold you would get the occasional flicker of the rev counter needle, either up or down, it would not affect the cars performance or rev the engine, just localised to the needle. More recently the problem has increased and the needle does a little dance up and down. As well as this I get other small issues, the ABS and STALL lights have flickered, the full beam light has popped on and off briefly (only a couple of times) it is an Auto and the reverse caution sound has randomly started beeping and I am sure yesterday the horn sounded. These are all for a very short time, just flickers and only happens in the first few miles of driving before the car has warmed up. All of the above I can handle although annoying but twice now the car has displayed another fault which I can only describe as the clutch jumping out. The car has become stuck in first and the clutch does not engage when I brake to a halt (hence the car stalls). Turning off the engine and re-starting has imediately cured this fault on both occasions so again it leads me to believe its electrical related (probably ECU?) Firstly has anybody experienced similar and secondly can anybody recommend a good electrics workshop to take the car to? I am based in the West country (Yeovil) and have one nearby who are TVE (Chard) who are good but they are generic fault finders and really dont know anything about this car. I am happy to travel further afield if there is somebody more atuned to the Z electrics?
  10. Can anybody please tell me if there are any instructions within this site for programming the key fob to the car please, and if so could you point me in the right direction Thanks Nick
  11. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-FAIRLADY-Z ... 500wt_1182 Dont know how much these fetch but it wont be as much as £300
  12. I can get Falken for £200 fitted, Kuomo for £210 or Avon for £240 I really dont drive the car too hard so am wondering if I really need the premiums and pay the extra or if any of these are suitable
  13. Tyre Advice please I have a standard 2003 Z and have to get a pair of rear tyres for it. As you probably know they are 235/50 17 96Y I have Pirelli P6000 on there now and the fronts are still pretty good. I am being quoted between £350-400 which seems steep but maybe competitive for all I know. Firstly could you please advise if this is the best tyre for the car and let me know if you are aware of a competitive supplier.
  14. Reset completed, no good though. Brake light gone out but all three others on still
  15. Hi guys Can anybody please offer advice? Just driving my 2003 350z and the dash lit up. Initially the following lights all appeared. 'TCS off', 'ABS' and 'Slip' orange warning lights all illuminated simultaneously, then about 10 miles later the brake warning light (!) came on. I have checked the levels and everything seems fine and apart from above everything seemed normal. I drove it for some 12 miles with the above occurences and it drove normally. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks in advance and regards, Nick.

Sorry would have had it, thanks for the offer, been too busy to get to the forum to take you up on it
  17. Thanks for all of your help guys, problem has been sorted, took a while to diagnose it but the cause of the problem was a wire (again I dont profess to understand the problem but apparently there is a memory wire which goes from the diagnosis plug to the ECU which had been somehow disconnected.) A very small but quite costly problem but at least its sorted and all is good. Did 500 miles over the weekend to Download festival via Reading and she drove like a dream.
  18. You are so much better off with the Z my friend, with the greatest of respect I followed a Fiesta looking exactly like that only 3 days ago and I remember thinking to myself 'why would anybody buy that car when this one is on the market!' No matter how you dress it up or how many go faster stripes you stick on it, its a Ford! Glad you saw the light!!
  19. Would be very interested in some interior changes
  20. Welcome to the forum. Good luck with the car, RWD is the only way to go IMHO, I have driven them for the past 12 years and would never change back. You will be sold on it within days
  21. Im not that keen on the car to be honest, I dont know much about it, never been in one, I do remember thinking what the hell is that when I first saw one years ago and thought for about 5 seconds it may be quite a decent looking car then coming to my senses. The thing I have found in this genre there are only a couple of cars which I would call an out and out mans car (as opposed to the womans or hairdressers car ) Firstly my apolgies to all Z lady owners but I dont think it can be denied that the Z is just a 'testosterone fueled out and out get your balls out on the workbench and hit them with a spanner' lump of metal and wires. I guess the Crossfire is the same breed albeit inferior quality. I cant think of many more. (Note to self for next time, flick power switch and kncok into Tip mode to see said opponent disappear in mirror...Rookie error, never had an auto box before! )
  22. I must admit I forgot all about power mode. Out of interest what difference does it make to the performance, I have not noticed a huge difference on the couple of occasions I have selected it? And yes I made the mistake of leaving in auto when I should have clicked across to Tip to get a little more from the gear.
  23. Anybody know much about the spec of a Crossfire? I only ask because I was driving on Saturday and went past one and he decided he wanted to race me, I am pretty much past all that but the car is new to me so I thought what the hell! I have a standard Z with auto box, I have to say I could not shake him, we had to slow down for slower traffic but as they pulled over and I hit the gas he was right there, He even pulled closer at very top end speeds, it only lasted a couple of miles on main roads but I was unsure how a car with a 3.2 engine generating only 215 bhp could pull off this type of performance. Maybe modified or or they that fast?

    200sx

Hi guys I know this is the wrong place to post this query but a friend of mine has just bought a 200sx and has told me of a problem he has, I imagined there would be some ex 200 owners here or somebody who knows them well who may be able to answer the query. He has looked for a good 200 forum and he has come up empty handed. If you are unable to help then maybe somebody could direct me to someone who may know. Here is his mail.... I live in Somerset and have recently purchased a 200sx s14 2001 (Y-reg). The vehicle has done 155k, is totally standard and is a manual. The vehicle drives very nicely and on the whole I am very pleased with my purchase. The only major annoyance with the car, is the fact it makes a fairly loud clicking noise, upon taking up drive. This happens when going from stationary to moving, in either forward or reverse gear. The noise seems to be coming from the driveshaft area and is louder, the more aggressively drive is taken up. The best way to describe the noise is a 'clink', similar to the noise made by a fwd vehicle, when the CV joints are worn. I have checked the torque on the hub nuts and they are both fine. Also, I have stripped out, cleaned and lubed the rear brake assemblies. Had a Nissan technician look at the car, he suggested the possibility of a 'dry spline' on the drive shafts, but could not be sure. I would be extremely grateful for any useful suggestions. Many thanks, Patrick. I have also heard the noise, I would describe it almost as a popping, akin to what you get when you open a pressurised jam jar and the lid pops. Thanks in advance for any suggestions guys Regards Nick
