There is a flimsy ribbon cable which connect the switches to the Air Con control unit underneath where the stereo is fitted, so it might be something simple like it's came a bit loose or perhaps they have jammed it under the new stereo and it's broke the ribbon.
The panel the switches are connected to just pulls off very easily to get access to the ribbon and control unit so you can easily check it.
thanks
I've found a guide to getting that part of the dash off although it's just a case of giving it a tugg (ooer!). I'll give that a go tomorrow and then I'll have a play with the ribbon cable.

Has anyone suffered with their Air Con fan intermittantly cutting out? Mine developed this fault yesterday and I discovered today that it seems to cut out when I touch the knob - ie, the air con light flickers, fan cuts out then comes back.
It seems as though the switch has got a dodgy connection but I was wondering if anyone else has suffered with this and knows it to be something else?
I had a new stereo fitted a couple of weeks ago, could they have tampered with one of those cables?
I had a search for this but couldn't find any advise but sorry if it has been discussed before
Cheers

The only thing I couldn't take with me was the bike - but I've seen a couple of threads on that so you never know for next year!
The campsite is brilliant - called Hillend Camping for anyone interested.

Decided to go camping in the Gower this week and was lucky enough to go with the guys and leave the family at home - roll out the Zed!
Everything packed, except for the kitchen sink!
Arrived and now to find my pitch.
My tent is the one on the left - a relative palace
All to ourselves - the perfect place for surfing, kite surfing and kite buggies
It took 4 hours to get there but only 3 to get back - not bad seeing as the tomtom said it would take 3hrs 40! Hoping I don't get any unwanted photo's of my car in the next few days from Mr Plod!

A girl I knew through work thought I sounded fat so she called be fatbloke. But then she met me and I was just trim young lad so she changed it to phatbloke - added the 74 as it's my year of birth.
I'm not so skinny any more so I might be changing it back to the original

Not sure if I can make this one. Seeing how much camping gear I can get in the zed and going off surfing to the Gower. Ill be back on Saturday but I'll be 'making it up to the family' for being away for 4 nights
It is 5pm onwards though so you never know

Hi all,
Just wanted to show off my new ICE - the Alpine IXA-W404R with Bluetooth KCE-400BT!
Had it installed at John Kleis Car Hi-Fi in Reading and it was definately worth the extra mileage as they did a brilliant job on the install.
It took them a good 3-4 hours to install but I'm really impressed with their professionalism and service and although the unit doesn't quite fit the double DIN fascia, they've done a great job with a custom mod to make sure it's central and there aren't any gaps.
Need to spend the weekend playing with the sound settings but it's sounds pretty good already and the BT is working great - as I found out when the Mrs phoned me to find out where I was!!

Has anyone got one of these available? Mines pretty scratched and I'd like to replace if possible.
Also, does anyone know how easy these are to replace? Do they just 'pop' off or are there some hidden screws?
Cheers
-
Right guys, mine has come back and its looking good!! photo was taken with iphone so excuse the quality
Now for my next question!! I'm having trouble with finding a good sound setting! Can anyone help me here?
What did they do to fix the gaps? Did they use a different fascia?
-
Incredible. It's the definition of what owning a sports car like the zed is all about.
Since I am new to this thing, the only issue I have concerning me would be the distance between petrol stations - how do you arrange your trip so you guys don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere? no food, can't speak language, no petrol.
+1
Yeah, would definately like to know how you piked your route and what that route was - views are absolutely stunning and I can't imagine anything better than driving my zed down a road with no other cars on!!
-
Thanks for all the advice guys - mines now booked in to be fitted next week!

This is the pre-06 facia you'll need
thanks for that. Now, that's just the facia, do I need any of the other fittings that are shown on the post 06 version?
Sorry for being such a noob but I don't want to buy everything and then can't have it fitted because something is missing!
Cheers

Right, thats made my mind up - all looks very
I've got an 04 plate, so could anyone advise me of the fascia that I should get?
Cheers

I've got a spare one, pm me your address and i'll post it to you
Thanks for the offer sunset but I should be receiving one from R35LEE tomorrow.
Cheers

Has anyone got that they could sell / donate?
Thought I'd top up the cooling this morning before work and dropped the cap down into the engine bay - couldn't get it and had to leave for work If I'm lucky enough it will still be there when I get home but I'm not putting money on it! went to Nissan and they didn't have one in stock and it will take them a couple of days to get hold of one.
Any offers would be greatly recevied

Ok i've done a bit more research on this - thought i'd post my findings for anyone else if they needed to know.
The steering wheel answer controls cannot be used, also the mic needs replacing (although this comes with the BT400 kit). Calls are then answered on the touch screen display of the alpine - i'm told by a few installers quality is excellent
Looks like my first new purchase is ready to go
Hey jtec,
I'm really interested to see how you get on with this as I'm interested in this unit aswell. Keep us informed and I'd really like to see some pics after you've got it installed - interested to see if it can go in without any gaps between the dash and the unit.
You going to install yourself?
-
I'd be up for it if I'm available. In the middle of the school hols and haven't planned when I'm going to be away yet.
Le Mans Series - 1000KM - Silverstone - PIC HEAVY

Just a quick report and some piccies of my trip to Silverstone on Sunday.
I was lucky enough to be invited to this event by Lola who design and build the chassis for the season winning Aston Martin team.
On arriving we had to pick up our welcome packs and instead of being directed to the usual public car parks, the marshalls must have taken an interest in the zed and I was directed to the SuperCars Car Park. So along with a plethera of Aston Martins, Lamborghini's and Spykers stood my Zed.
We were then shown round the garages;
and then went off to watch the race. It lasted nearly 6 hours so there was plenty of time to get loads of photo's. Here are some of my favs and you can go to the album if you want to see the rest.
