Be careful what you fit...
The power supplies of some LED light systems can cause bad radio interference. Many don't comply with the regulations.
There was an article in Which magazine a few months back about a guy who was unable to use his DAB radio in the kitchen after fitting LED lights.

My car is currently with Abbey (and I have their GT86 to play with!) and one thing they are doing is changing the transmission fluids. I too suffer from a recalcitrant 1st to 2nd shift at times (first time I have ever had a car the benefits from double declutching when moving UP the box!).
I raised the topic of Molyslip and Mark isn't a big fan of using additives in premium oils. Abbey's fluid of choice for the gearbox is SUNOCO75W/80 GL4
I am not saying it should/shouldn't be done and evidentially there are some who appear to have benefitted - just giving an alternate view.

Later this year I will be booking my Z into Abbey for a Revup, and thought that I would let them change the gearbox oil and add Molyslip. So I am interested in Mark's view on additives.
Perhaps somewhere on the InterWeb there are the results of independant scientific tests to show the pros and cons of adding Molyslip.

I just booked for the nurburgring next week otherwise id have an mrev2 and 5/16th spacer! When are you placing order Tarmac? Just to double check, ive got the gt4 model with the revup engine. Is this the best combo for gains?
I think he's already placed the order.
Yes revup must use both to see gains. The spacer alone on the revup does diddly squat, must be combined with the MREV.
I he has placed the order then I must think about booking a Revup...

Brake dust
in Brakes
Out for a longish run. Even without the pads being fully bedded in, stopping is much better than with the stock pads.
Well pleased...

Brake dust
in Brakes
Just finished fitting Redstuff to all 4 corners. Standard discs.
Compared with changing pads on other cars, the Brembro's design makes it a walk in the park...

Many thanks. I will look at the Redstuff...

Brake dust
in Brakes
I was wondering if there are pads that produce less brake dust than the standard ones I have fitted at present. Ones giving either the same or better braking performance...

Update:-
My headlights now seem to be behaving themselves as I drove about 100 miles the other evening with no "flashing" from drivers coming the other way .

It being a bright warm day for a change I decided to have a look at the leveling sensor, and further investigate the knocking from the N/S/R corner.
The sensor was pretty easy to spot even without the colour coding.
I removed it, and could see nothing obviously wrong. So I gave it a squirt of De-Oxit5 and greased the linkages.
How to test it ?
I started the car, put the headlights on low beam and made a mark on the garage wall where the top to the beam was.
I then needed to put something heavy in the boot. As 'er indoors was out shopping I settled for some paving slabs and a heavy toolbox.
I then switched the headlights on again and noted that the beam was now quite a bit above the mark I had made.
When I started the engine the beam slowly came down to the position I had previously marked.
So, now I have confirmed the auto-leveling is working if the beam is still high then some manual adjustment of the lights themselves will be needed.

I know he was called "Blade Runner", but that was taking the role a bit too far...

Now that's what we call "looked after"
Darn right !

Her ya go
This is the bit your looking for
Many thanks.
However I am a bit confused. The underside of my car doesn't look as colourful as that. More of a S**t Brown !

The level sensor is attached to the N/S/R suspension arm and can be easily seen underneath. Basic adjustment possible at the lamps itself, but if there is any fault with the system or you replaced any parts on it, than it will need to initialize the sensor and you need Consult 3 for that (that's Nissan's OEM computer and only dealers and specialist like us got it). I hope this helps
Thanks a lot.
Now I know where to look I will jack that side up, take the wheel off and have a look. It maybe some simple mechanic fault. However, your advice regarding the need to intialise the sensor if it is changed, is very useful.

It only self-levels from when you start the car, i.e. to take into account any weight in the boot. Once you've started the engine, the height is then fixed for the remainder of your journey until you turn the engine off. I'd go to a decent local MOT station and just get them to check the heights and adjust as needed, can't be more than £20-£30.
That's interesting to know. Nothing has changed on the car, so it is probably setting the wrong height from starting up.
I have and MOT coming up in March and will probably get a service done at the same time. This is with a good local garage, and if I can point them to the cause of the problem it will save me the time and money of having to go to a main Nissan dealer.
Cheers

You got it, near side rear.
I've recently had Eibach ARB's fitted and as a result my lights are now lower. There is a way to manually adjust, which I believe has been posted here before with a bit if searching.
Ah , maybe something in the leveling sensor had been causing the knocking, and has finally broken/worked loose.
Anyone know if the sensor is visible from under the car, or is fitted inside under some cover ?
Photos of it's location would be of great help...
Thanks

Hi,
Recently the beam of both my headlights has been getting higher. On low beam it sometimes attracts a flash from oncoming traffic.
I believe my 350z (08 UK model) has a self leveling headlight system.
My questions is:-
where is the leveling sensor fitted ?
If it is on the near rear side then that might account for the ocasional knocking noise from that quarter.

Everything i can think of has been checked and no luck,
Took it to another garage today and they couldn't find the problem either, they weren't even sure if it's coming from the back or the front, sounds like the back to me tho
I have been chasing a noise from the rear passenger side for about a year without success. It sounds like 2 coconut shells being banged together and happens on roads with even quite small potholes.
My local garage gave a close inspection, but could fine nothing wrong. Is your sound anything similar ?

Go to the Leidseplein square in the evening. Either sit in the square with a drink or visit the nearby bars and restaurants. Many different types of great food to be had within walking distance...

Try Pikesley's Woburn Sands. Great for servicing, MOT's and tyres.
Won't take my Z anywhere else...

Just installed a Kguard system from Maplin. It is a wired system of 4 cameras each comes with an 18m cable. Bit of a game to setup, but does the job.
The cameras work well in the dark, but the daytime colours and resolution are poor. I will probably try replacing the cameras one by one with higher quality (more expensive) ones...
